Tristan
The whole baby talk made it kind of awkward that we both didn’t know how to move on from the conversation but just sat there silently staring at everywhere except for each other.
That wasn’t all of Grandfather’s conversation. He didn’t just want to talk about the inheritance and his retirement, he also talked about Isabella, and he said something that piqued my interest but same time was quite disturbing.
*Recap– Grandfather conversation*
“You like her already,” Grandfather said to me as we got into my study.
“What do you mean?” I looked at him confused.
“You’re grinning from ear to ear, my presence here seems to disturb you cause I’m taking your attention away from her,” He sat down and said but I pretended not to understand him.
“What are you saying, grandfather?” I asked him innocently.
“I’m talking about Isabella,” He half yelled.
“You mean my wife?” I smiled at him.
“Wife? Do you think she’s your wife? She’s not Lily Allen, and neither could she fill that fao of Lily,” He stated.
“Perfect for me, I. Don’t want her to be Lily. She’s a cheat, a liar, and a pretender,” I wanted to yell that to him, but I couldn’t, so I just said it as angrily as I could, so he could see how I truly felt about that woman.
“And you think Isabella Colin us any better?” He stated that he knew something I didn’t.
“She’s Isabella Tristan Dominic,” I corrected.
“Oh please, she could never bear the Dominic name,” He scoffed.
“She will, she already is,” I told him with all seriousness.
“Oh child, wake up from that little dream of us. It’s not happening, and whatever woman you think she is I promise you she’s not,” He said with such certainty.
“And why is that? Why would you say that with such assurance?” I question him.
“Grandfather, tell me. What is it that you know?” My heart was already racing, I was hoping and praying it wasn’t anything worse than Lily.
“I offered her two million dollars to leave you in a year, and she accepted stating she would be gone in five months,” He stated and my heart sank. I felt it shatter into a million pieces, and I didn’t know how to feel about it.
But one thing I was certain about was that I wouldn’t fret in front of my grandfather, I wouldn’t show him any sigh of fear, or be weak in front of him. I had to turn this situation around, I needed him to see that I wasn’t worried about it.
“Good. At least she didn’t take any money before your back like Lily had planned to. She didn’t cheat on me with Brett, she still isn’t Lily,” I told him proudly.
“Oh please, you’ll forgive Brett,” He stated like it was that simple.
“And Lily is still a more suitable wife than Isabella, at least she wouldn’t be swooning by such a menial amount,” He said staring at me.
“I don’t care grandfather,” I told him, and I didn’t understand if that was true or not. Did I not care? Or was I just making it up to Grandfather?
“That’s not true son, you care,” He gave a small smile.
“You offered her two million dollars to leave me, then I’ll offer her a hundred to stay by my side,” I stated with such seriousness in my eyes that my grandfather was in shock from my words.
“What?” He managed to say, staring at me like I had gone insane.
“Yes. I’ll make sure my amount beats yours, ’cause I’ll keep Isabella by myself no matter the amount it might cost,” I said to him.
“You must be out of your mind,” he staggered
“Yes, I am. I certainly am.” I yelled.
“I promise you, Grandpa, I’ll keep Isabella to myself,” I added
“You’ll do no such thing,” he said.
“And how many times have I ever listened to you or anyone,” I was going against my grandfather, my literally favorite person in the works and I didn’t know how to feel about it.
“Think about our conversation, and listen to yourself,” He said simply before leaving the office, while my legs wobbled as I was a bit shaken by the event that occurred.
*Back to the present*
The drive back to the mansion felt like the longest drive ever, but because of the silence in the room, and because no one was in a jolly mood, the ride here felt long.
A few of the staff helped with our suitcases, as we got down from the car. And once we opened the mansion, the staff inside all lined up and bowed their heads saying their greetings to us.
“Thank you,” I whispered to them, staring at the roses’ petals on the floor and then at the candle, that lit up the whole place giving it such a different, but appealing aesthetic.
“Thank you, Rose,” I heard her say, and immediately I turned to state at her, she had already left for the stairs.
I let us both settle in, cause it seemed like both had a lot of things going on in each other’s head and right now we just need to rest.
Once I got into my room, I took off my clothes, bathed, and got into something comfortable to wear before climbing the bed and drifting off to sleep.
**
I got up immediately my alarm rang. I had set everything last night because I needed to get back to the office and probably make some progress with this Inheritance of a thing. I brushed my teeth, quickly showered, and then walked to my clothes. I picked out a white button-up shirt, and a coffee-brown tie and brought out a coffee-brown brown suit and pants too. I wore them, brushed my hair, and grabbed my briefcase before leaving my room for breakfast.
“Good morning,” I greeted muffin, who was coming out of her room, while I gazed at her in shock.
Isabella
“Good morning,” I closed my door and the bed to look at him when I hunger mouth opened staring at him in shock.
“What? How’s that even possible?” I laughed and walked towards him, while he laughed too.
“Are we in sync or something?” I started staring at our outfit. I was wearing a tie waist blazer two-piece set, which was also in a coffee brown color.
“Maybe we are,” He said as we headed downstairs, while I just looked at him and back at myself. It looked as if we had curated our outfits, it felt like it was matching outfits and that just kind of happened as a coincidence, what is the probability of that? I thought and chuckled.
We ate breakfast and chatted, trying to predict the reaction of people at work when we went into the office, and it was hilarious. A few minutes later, we arrived at the office. We got out of the car and stared at each other smiling.
I locked my arms with him as we walked side by side into the office. Whispers. Lots of it was heated immediately people noticed our presence. Fingers. A lot of it was pointed in our direction the moment we stepped in, but no one dared point them out and get noticed by Tristan, or else that would be the end of their career.
Eyes!!. All of their gaze was fixed on us, they Kris their work and stare at us, their head moving to whatever direction or path we took.
It was intense, but I didn’t seem to have a problem with it. Instead, I smiled at their behavior and enjoyed every bit of attention I got from them.
“Talk to you later,” Tristan kissed my cheeks before going to his office, making my face flush. I couldn’t believe he did that openly like it was nothing. What if someone saw it? I thought looking around before going to my desk.
At lunch break, before Tristan would notice because he was crowded with work, I quickly rushed out of the office and took a cab to see Doctor Eddie. The whole event on the trip made me scared and unhappy. I needed to ensure that there was a probability that something good was going to happen, so I asked Doctor Eddie if I could see him today and he agreed to it.
A few minutes later I got there and immediately was sent into his office, because I had already booked an appointment with him.
“Miss Colin,” He called elated to see me.
“Good afternoon Doctor Eddie,” I smiled at him.
“Please have a seat,” he said and I did just that.
“How are you feeling? Any severe pain?” He looked truly concerned.
“No severe pains yet, but the signs started,” I explained.
“Yes you told me over the phone,” He remarked.
“What is it you wanted to discuss with me today?” He asked.
“I wanted to know if the surgery could still hold. And what are my chances?” I was nervous.
“You have a high chance of living a normal life if you decide to go into surgery,” He stated.
“Did you have a change of mind?” He asked me, there was lots of hope in his eyes like he knew I was going to say yes.
“Yes,” I sighed, and he beamed instantly.
“Oh my gosh. This is good news, I’m so happy you agreed to it,” He smiled warmly at me.
“But I need a week to organize myself and get ready,” I knew he understood what I meant, but the way he smiled and nod at me.
“I’m so glad you made this decision Miss. Colin,” He said and stood on his feet, the moment I stood to leave his office.
“I’ll see you in a week,” He added.
“Also,” I paused and turned around to stare at him.
“It’s not Miss. Colin,” I pointed at him and he looked at me confused.
“What?”
“What do you mean?” He asked when I interrupted.
“It’s Mrs. Isabella Tristan Dominic,” I said proudly with a smile and left the office.
“I’m doing this. I’m choosing to live,” I did a happy dance in my heart, as I got into a cab going back to the office.
