The weekend came and went by really quickly, this one was full of shockers and pretty eventful for me thanks to someone I was still trying not to think about. I opened my curtains and quickly started to get ready for work. I couldn’t tell if I hated the mornings or just Monday mornings. I groaned and dragged myself to the bathroom, did my skincare, and had my bath. I quickly scrubbed my body, tied my towel, and walked out to my vanity as I started to cream my body and dry up my hair.
I hummed a bit and walked to my closet to pick an outfit. I decided to go with a white wide-leg phatalon and a plus size blue and white striped button down shirt. I wore it and started at myself and decided to grab a brown Chanel belt. I tugged my shirt into my pants, then put on the belt. I stared at myself satisfied with the look, I grabbed my brown stiletto shoe, and my brown tote bag from the vanity table. I started to organize my bag, put in my iPad, my phone, a pen, lipstick, and every essential I needed.
I walked to the mirror, stared at myself arranged my dark hair, and let it rest on my shoulders before leaving the room. I walked down the stairs and arrived at the kitchen. I responded to the greetings of everyone in the room with a smile I’m my face before going to the dining room waiting for my meal.
In the process I decided to get some work done, so I brought out my iPad and worked and started to review documents in need of Tristan’s signature.
“Good morning,” I heard from behind me, frightening me. I turned around and there he was standing behind me all dressed in a black suit, looking as dashing as ever.
“Pheww,” I breathed out, then chuckled still holding my chest.
“You didn’t have to scare me,” I said and turned back to my screen tapping on it.
“Then I wouldn’t get to see that smile,” He said and I faked a puke at how cringe that sounded in my head.
“Yeah whatever,” he chuckled at my reaction.
“So what are you doing?” He asked as I swiped the screen looking at our new products and discussing a new strategy for promotion with our team from abroad.
“You know this is a live meeting right? ” I told him because his neck area down to his waist was visible on the Zoom call.
“I do,” He said and I immediately muted my audio and video to turn and stare at him.
“You do? And you still are behind me? I don’t understand?” I said bluntly.
“Is this not for the company?”
“It is,” I said simply.
“So?”
“What do you mean so?”
“I want to get involved,” he said almost immediately, and I laughed like he was out of his mind.
“Since when do you ever get involved, Mr. Tristan,” I raised my brows at him, not in a way that said I wanted a response from him, but in a way that told him that he was being funny right now.
“Since it involves you,” He responded, and before I could say anything to him, I heard my name being called by someone from the screen.
“I’m so sorry, I had a little network problem,” I said immediately I turned on my audio.
“Please could you repeat yourself,” I taped on the video button and immediately my face was visible on the screen with that of Mr. Tristan?
“Is that Mr. Tristan?” Someone gasped from the screen immediately after she noticed him.
“You didn’t inform us that Mr. Tristan would be joining this meeting,” A man said, organizing himself on the screen, while Tristan had pulled a chair close to me.
“I am…,” I tried to form words but couldn’t, and immediately he stepped in.
“My wife had mentioned about your meeting last night,” He stared at me so lovingly, that I thought for a moment maybe he wasn’t referring to myself, even though I was the woman in the room he was talking about.
I looked at him so shocked, at how he wonderfully made that up and convinced everybody on the screen as I could hear some giggles.
“Right honey,” He nudged my shoulder and gave me a wink.
“Yes,” I said and nodded my head forcing a smile on my lips.
“Someone save me from this man, “I screamed in my head.
“Please carry on with your point,” He said and the man continued. The meeting had an additional twenty minutes because everyone had a question that was directed to him. I barely heard my voice in all of it.
“Can I serve breakfast now, ” Rose said from a corner in the kitchen, while I was packing my stuff back into my bag and Tristan responded to her.
“I’m sorry if the meeting didn’t go as planned because of me, I won’t let it happen next time, “he said so sweetly.
‘How thoughtful,’ I thought and faced him with a smile, letting that go. Because there definitely would not be a next time, that I’ll make sure of.
Rose and another maid set the table and served our breakfast. Tristan being as annoying as he is, thought it was good to eat close to me in that position we had the meeting call, just to eat. Our skin brushed against each other every time we tried to grab something from the table.
I breath out, when he just intentionally decided it was okay to change the position of the salt when he didn’t even need to say it.
“Seriously,” I barely said it out, and turned to him, before almost immediately turning back at my good, because in the end, he was still going to do whatever the fu*k he wanted to do.
This man was crowding my space, it was fun and all in the beginning with the banter. But right now I don’t know how long I could intend to keep it in before I burst out and scream at him.
“Deep breath Isabel,” I tell myself and close my eyes releasing a deep breath…
