Chapter 35

Kamrynn’s POV
In my room, I opened the laptop, my hands shaking. Rmonica and the Alpha stood behind me, their expressions tense.
I played the footage, letting the damning evidence speak for itself. Eloane’s voice filled the room, her words as clear as the day I’d recorded them.
When the video ended, silence fell.
Rmonica’s hands trembled as she covered her mouth. “I can’t believe this…”
The Alpha’s fists clenched, his fury palpable. “She’ll pay for this.”
He stormed out of the room, Rmonica stumbling behind him, clearly overwhelmed. I felt sorry for her more than anything. She didn’t deserve any of this. But the truth, despite how bitter it is, is the only thing that can, and will set her free.
I closed my laptop and quickly followed them. Eloane was still present in the living room and she looked as white as a ghost, her fingers trembling at her sides.
The tension in the room was thick enough to choke on as Rmonica and the Alpha faced Eloane. Her face was pale but defiant, her arms moving to protectively cradle her belly as she stood her ground.
“We just saw video evidence proving all of Kamrynn’s accusations. I’m not one to judge from one side so I expect a damn good explanation.” The Alpha demanded, his voice calm but icy.
“I’ve done nothing wrong!” Eloane’s voice rang out, quivering slightly. “This is all lies-fabricated by that rogue to get rid of me!”
Rmonica’s sharp gaze cut to me. I held her stare, unwavering. “You saw the video for yourself. Everything I’ve said is true,” I said firmly. “She’s been poisoning you, Rmonica. This woman is a snake, she’ll do anything to save herself.”
“A snake?” Eloane spat, a twisted sneer on her face. “I’m the one who’s a snake now? What about you? You’re nothing but a damn rogue, rejected and cast aside by your Pack. Your words have no value! Do you have any idea what I’ve done for this Pack? How faithfully I’ve served the Alpha and Luna? You’re just jealous of me. Ever since you arrived you’ve been desperate to ruin me, only goddess Selene knows why.”
The Alpha, who had been standing silent but visibly seething, finally spoke. His tone was as cold as ice. “Enough. Eloane, if you are innocent, you have nothing to hide. Guards, search her room. Find the substance she planned to use on my Luna.”
Eloane’s eyes widened, panic flashing across her face. “You can’t do that!” she cried, stepping forward as if to block the door. “This is absurd! I demand you stop this madness!”
The guards didn’t so much as flinch at her protest. They moved past her with purpose, ignoring her desperate attempts to physically halt them.
“This is outrageous!” Eloane screamed. “I’m carrying your child, Alpha! Do you even care about that? About your heir?”
Her voice cracked, and she clutched her belly with trembling hands, tears streaming down her cheeks. “This stress… this is going to harm the baby. Please, don’t let this happen.”
The Alpha’s gaze flickered, a hint of uncertainty breaking through his fury. I could see it working-her tears, her desperation. She was playing them like a finely tuned instrument.
“She’s manipulating you,” I said, my voice steady. “Don’t fall for it.”
“And what proof do you have?” Eloane snapped, turning her venom toward me. “Your word? A rogue’s word? That’s all you have.”
I reached into my pocket and pulled out the folded test results, my hand steady despite the storm of emotions surging within me. “This,” I said, my voice ringing out sharply in the tense silence, “is the proof you’ve been feeding Rmonica a banned contraceptive for years. Proof that you’ve been the source of her suffering all along.”
I handed the document directly to the Alpha, my gaze never leaving Eloane’s paling face. He unfolded the paper slowly, his expression hardening with every word his eyes scanned. Rmonica leaned over his arm, her brows furrowing as she read alongside him.
“No…” Rmonica’s voice was a faint whisper, trembling as she took a step back. Her hand flew to her chest, clutching the fabric of her dress like it could hold her together. “No, this can’t be true.”
“Rmonica,” I said gently, stepping closer, “I know it’s hard to believe, but-”
She shook her head, cutting me off, her eyes brimming with tears. “How could this happen? How could I not see this?” Her voice cracked, and she looked at Eloane, her devastation transforming into raw anger. “You… you were supposed to help me! You were supposed to support me, not… not destroy me!”
Eloane stammered, her hands outstretched as though she could physically ward off the accusations. “Rmonica, please! Don’t listen to her! That paper-it’s fake! She’s lying!”
The Alpha’s low growl silenced the room. “The only liar here,” he said, his voice dark with restrained fury, “is you.”
Rmonica’s tears spilled over as she looked between the Alpha and me, her disbelief giving way to realization. “All those years,” she choked out, her voice barely audible. “All those years I blamed myself, thought I was broken, unworthy… and it was you? Eloane, how could you do this to me?”
Her knees buckled, and the Alpha caught her, his arms wrapping around her protectively. “I’ve waited so long for a child,” Rmonica whispered against his chest, her sobs shaking her small frame. “And you-someone I trusted with my life-you stole that from me?”
Eloane’s lips trembled, but no words came out. The truth hung heavily in the air, undeniable and damning.
The room fell silent, save for Eloane’s ragged breathing. Just then, the guards returned, holding a small vial. “Alpha,” one of them said, presenting it. “We found this in her room. It matches the description.”
The Alpha’s expression hardened into something lethal. He turned his glare on Eloane, who immediately dropped to her knees.
“No, no, please!” she sobbed, gripping the hem of his shirt. “You have to believe me! That’s not mine! Kamrynn planted it-I swear! The video, the test results, everything- she’s framing me!”
“Enough,” the Alpha said, his voice sharp enough to cut stone. “You’ve lied enough. Guards! Arrest this evil woman and throw her in the dungeon. And bring Raelan to join her. They will both be tried for high treason.”
“No!” Eloane screamed, struggling against the guards as they seized her arms. “You can’t do this! Think of the baby-your heir! Please, you can’t punish an innocent child!”
The Alpha’s eyes narrowed. “A DNA test will confirm the truth. If this child isn’t mine and the Luna’s, your punishment will be worse than death.”
The guards began to drag her away, but Eloane wrenched free and threw herself at Rmonica’s feet. “Please, Rmonica,” she cried, clutching the hem of Rmonica’s gown. “I know I’ve made mistakes, but I’m begging you-have mercy! For the sake of this baby, don’t let them take me away.”
Rmonica looked down at her with an expression I’d never seen before. It wasn’t just anger-it was betrayal, heartbreak, and disgust all rolled into one.
“You dare beg me for mercy?” Rmonica said, her voice trembling. “After everything you’ve done to me? To my family? You’ve tormented and belittled me for years, made me believe there was something wrong with me. You stole from me the one thing I wanted most in this world.”
“I-”
“Keep quiet!” Rmonica’s voice cracked like a whip, and Eloane flinched. Tears streamed down Rmonica’s face as she continued. “What hurts the most is that I thought of you as my sister. I loved you, Eloane. I trusted you. And this is how you repay me? With lies, betrayal, and cruelty?”
Eloane whimpered, her face contorting with desperation. “Rmonica, please-”
“If only you knew how much I loved you,” Rmonica said, her voice soft but cutting. “If there was something you wanted, all you had to do was ask. I gave you everything I could, but you only sought my destruction. You deserve everything that’s coming to you. May your soul be tormented for all eternity.”
The guards seized Eloane again and dragged her away, kicking and screaming like a banshee. “You’ll regret this!” she shrieked. “You’ll all regret this! Rmonica, you’re nothing but a fool! A stupid, blind fool!”
Her voice faded as the doors slammed shut behind her. The room was silent, save for Rmonica’s quiet sobs.
I stepped forward hesitantly. “Rmonica,” I said softly.
She turned to me, her tear-streaked face crumpling. “Kamrynn… I don’t even know what to say.”
“You don’t have to say anything,” I replied. “I’m just glad you’re safe.”
Rmonica pulled me into a tight embrace, her tears soaking into my shoulder. “I’m sorry,” she whispered. “For doubting you. For everything.”
I hugged her back, my own tears threatening to spill. “You don’t need to apologize. I understand why you reacted the way you did. I would’ve done the same in your position.”
The Alpha approached us, his expression softening as he looked at Rmonica. “Kamrynn,” he said, his voice sincere. “You’ve saved my mate. For that, I owe you a debt I can never repay.”
“You don’t owe me anything, Alpha,” I said quickly, bowing my head. “It was the right thing to do.”
He shook his head. “You will be rewarded greatly for your bravery and loyalty. I promise you that.”
I nodded, gratitude swelling in my chest. For the first time in a long time, I felt a glimmer of hope.
It was finally over.
