The entire room froze upon hearing Lucas’s words. It was as if everyone had misheard; some even cleaned their ears, while others asked their neighbors if they had heard correctly. The three bosses were also taken aback, their ears ringing at the mention of one billion dollars. They couldn’t believe what they had just heard.
The three bosses exchanged glances, their hidden smiles betraying their excitement. “Are you serious, Mr. Lucio?” the first boss asked, trying to maintain a polite demeanor.
“Absolutely,” Lucas replied with newfound confidence, the nervousness from earlier completely gone. However, the bosses didn’t notice this change; their minds were solely focused on the prospect of winning a billion dollars from Lucas.
“Very well, Mr. Lucio,” the second boss said, nodding respectfully. “If that’s what you want, then that’s what we’ll play for.”
The third boss chimed in, “It’s a rare opportunity to play at such high stakes, Mr. Lucio.”
After confirming the bet, the three bosses exchanged glances, their smiles turning sinister as they imagined the fortune that could soon be theirs.
Around them, the onlookers began to whisper among themselves, their voices filled with disbelief and concern. “Is he really going to bet a billion dollars?” one person murmured.
“He’s throwing his money away,” another commented, shaking their head.
“Does he even know what he’s doing?” someone else wondered aloud.
“It’s like watching a train wreck in slow motion,” a bystander remarked, unable to look away.
“These bosses are known for taking advantage of newcomers,” another added, “and he’s walking right into their trap.”
“Alright, let’s start the next round,” the first boss said. The three bosses immediately shook their dice, smiles on their faces, while Lucas sat quietly, not moving, simply watching them.
“Hey, he looks nervous,” one spectator whispered.
Another grinned, “He’s so scared he can’t even move his muscles.”
“Tch!” another clicked their tongue, “Who wouldn’t be nervous after betting a billion?”
Hearing the chatter around them, the three bosses smirked and gave Lucas a sharp look before slamming their cups down on the table simultaneously.
Slam!
In the next moment, Lucas adjusted his suit with a calm demeanor, then reached for his cup with his right hand. In a surprising display of skill, he tossed the three dice into the air, catching them effortlessly with the cup. He then performed a series of impressive tricks, shaking the cup with precision and flair before slamming it down on the table with confidence. It was as if he had transformed from a novice into a professional gambler right before their eyes.
The three bosses grinned, seemingly unsurprised by Lucas’s display, their minds focused solely on the prize awaiting them.
“Let’s reveal our dice one by one again,” the first boss suggested. Everyone nodded in agreement. The first boss lifted his cup, revealing a five, five, and six. “Looks like I’ve got a decent hand,” he said, feigning disappointment.
The third boss went next, revealing three sixes. “Seems like I’m the one to beat,” he said cheerfully, a wide grin on his face.
The first boss pretended to frown, “Looks like luck isn’t on my side today.”
The second boss spoke up, “I haven’t even revealed mine yet, but it feels like I’ve already lost,” he said with mock resignation. Slowly, he lifted his cup, showing a six first. The atmosphere grew tense as he revealed another six, heightening the tension in the room.
The spectators began whispering to each other, clearly impressed by the bosses’ skills. “Wow, these bosses really know their game,” one person said.
“Yeah, Mr. Lucio doesn’t stand a chance,” another agreed.
As the second boss revealed his final die to be a five, the tension in the room eased a bit. “Phew, not as bad as I thought,” someone commented.
The second boss let out a dramatic sigh, “Looks like luck isn’t on my side today,” he said, pretending to be disappointed.
The third boss laughed, confident in his victory. “Looks like Lady Luck is with me,” he declared.
The first boss smirked, “But Mr. Lucio hasn’t revealed his dice yet. You might end up tying,” he said sarcastically.
The three bosses looked at Lucas with teasing glances, while the spectators watched him with pity, convinced of his impending loss. “Mr. Lucio, go ahead and reveal your cup. I’m eager to see if we tie,” the third boss said sarcastically.
Lucas smiled enigmatically, shaking his head calmly. “A tie is unlikely,” he said with confidence.
The second boss laughed, “It seems Mr. Lucio has accepted his defeat,” he smirked. The room buzzed with whispers, expecting Lucas to be embarrassed by the outcome of his dice.
Lucas remained silent, smiling as he slowly lifted his cup. The first die showed a six, causing everyone to stare, though they assumed it was just luck.
“I’m sure the next one is a four or five,” someone commented.
But when Lucas revealed another six, excitement rippled through the crowd.
“Two sixes!” someone exclaimed, eager to see the result. “If the next one is a six, they’ll tie,” another added.
Lucas smiled, while the three bosses frowned, realizing that if Lucas rolled another six, he would win the billion. The room fell silent, everyone holding their breath, eyes fixed on Lucas’s final die. Slowly, Lucas revealed the die, showing two dots, then four, and finally, a six.
“A tie!” someone shouted, thinking Lucas had also rolled three sixes. The bosses frowned, puzzled by the outcome.
But then someone noticed something unusual. “Look, the last die is smaller!” He pointed out. Others looked and saw that the final die was indeed smaller than the other two.
Lucas smiled, “I told you it wouldn’t be a tie,” he said calmly.
“What do you mean, Mr. Lucio?” the first boss asked, “You tied with the third boss,” he added.
Lucas smiled mysteriously before slowly lifting the cup, revealing a tiny die with a one on it.
“There it is!” someone pointed at the small die, “It broke off from the last die! That means he’s ahead by one point!” they exclaimed, leaving the room in stunned silence.
