They saw that the first boss rolled three sixes, the second boss rolled three fives, and the third boss rolled three fours. Surprisingly, Lucas ended up with three ones. He stood up and exclaimed, “Ah?! What happened? Why all ones?” he asked, looking pale.
The first boss laughed, “I won, I won,” he said as he gathered all the chips. He grinned at Lucas, “Didn’t I tell you, we’d win too? See, you got three ones. Maybe next time you’ll get three sixes,” he said, trying to convince him.
The second boss chimed in, “Unbelievable, three ones.”
“Your luck is something else. I’m scared for the next round; I might refuse if you raise the bet. I’m afraid you’ll get three sixes and we’ll get three ones,” added the third boss, grinning.
“Hey, hey, don’t say raise the bet,” the first boss said, pretending to be concerned, “he might raise it, and we’ll suddenly lose,” he laughed.
Lucas’s expression changed as he considered what the three bosses said, “Yeah, maybe that’s a sign of my luck,” he said.
The three bosses exchanged secretive grins, thinking, ‘What a fool!’ as they watched Lucas, who seemed dazed, waiting for his next move.
Lucas took a deep breath before placing his chips on the betting side, “Okay, game, all in! I’ll bet all my remaining chips… It’s over two hundred thousand,” he said, trembling as he pushed the chips forward.
The room fell silent upon hearing Lucas’s declaration, with everyone thinking he was making a huge mistake. The first boss swallowed hard, thinking about the large sum of money.
The second boss laughed loudly, seeing it as a great fortune, “Okay, okay, let’s continue the game,” he said before placing the equivalent chips on the betting side of the table. The other two bosses grinned and placed their bets on the table as well.
Around the room, people whispered to each other about Lucas, commenting on his apparent naivety. “Can you believe this guy? He’s being played by those three and doesn’t even realize it,” one person murmured.
“Yeah, he looks like a clown, dancing in their hands,” another replied.
The next round continued, and the atmosphere grew more intense with the high stakes on the line. They all shook their cups containing the dice and placed them on the table simultaneously.
The third boss spoke up, “To make it exciting, let’s reveal our dice one by one. I’ll go first.” The other bosses nodded in agreement, as did Lucas.
The third boss nodded before slowly lifting his cup, revealing a four, three, and six. He laughed, “Not bad, huh?”
The second boss followed, revealing a two, five, and five. “Well, not quite as good as yours,” he admitted.
The first boss then opened his cup, showing a five, five, and four. “Looks like I’ve got the upper hand this time,” he said with a grin, having the highest score among the three.
All eyes turned to Lucas, waiting for him to reveal his dice. “I’m nervous; he might get a perfect six,” the first boss said with a smile.
“I’m nervous too,” added the second boss.
“In a game of dice, luck always wins, so it’s all about luck,” chimed in the third boss.
Lucas, feeling anxious, carefully opened his cup. The first die revealed a six, heightening the tension in the room. “Whoa, he’s off to a good start,” someone whispered.
As everyone awaited the next die, a four appeared, making the atmosphere even more intense. “If he gets a five or another six, he’s got this,” another person commented.
Lucas swallowed hard, his hands trembling as he revealed the final die. When he opened it, the room fell silent as a one appeared.
“Ah!” Lucas exclaimed after seeing the one he rolled, his face filled with disbelief. “I-I lost!” he blurted out.
The first boss laughed heartily, “Looks like luck is on my side, I won,” he said, laughing as he gathered the chips from the table.
Lucas stood up, “One more round!” he said firmly, “I’ll get my revenge, just wait!” With that, he walked straight to the booth to exchange more money.
The three bosses watched Lucas with grins, whispering among themselves. “He’s such a fool,” the first boss said, shaking his head.
“An easy target,” the second boss added, smirking.
“A real cash cow,” the third boss chimed in, “He doesn’t even realize he’s being played.”
Their conversation continued, “These newcomers are always the easiest to reel in,” the first boss remarked.
“Yeah, they come in thinking they can win big, but they just end up filling our pockets,” the second boss agreed.
“It’s almost too easy,” the third boss laughed, “He’ll keep coming back for more.”
Around them, the onlookers remained silent, well aware of the bosses’ reputation for targeting newcomers. They could only watch Lucas with pity as he exchanged his chips, knowing he was being taken advantage of.
A few moments later, Lucas returned and sat down with a larger stack of chips than before, mostly black ones. The three bosses noticed this and exchanged glances. “How much did you exchange?” the second boss asked, swallowing in anticipation of the large sum Lucas was carrying.
Lucas smiled casually, “One billion,” he replied.
“One billion?!” the third boss exclaimed, slightly taken aback. The first boss paused, already imagining the billion ending up in their hands. The room went silent upon hearing Lucas’s declaration, with everyone thinking he was making a huge mistake.
Lucas sat down, and the first boss laughed, “It’s rare to meet someone like you, Mr.-?”
“Lucio,” Lucas answered.
“Mr. Lucio,” the first boss continued, “I really admire people like you who have the guts to bet big.”
“Alright, let’s start the next round,” Lucas announced. The second boss grinned, eager for the game to continue. “I’m just wondering what kind of bet Mr. Lucio wants to play with now,” he said.
“Mr. Lucio, do you want the same amount of bet as before?” the third boss asked.
Lucas shook his head, adjusting his posture and demeanor. The shy and trembling Mr. Lucio they had met earlier seemed to have vanished, but the three bosses didn’t notice the change, their focus solely on the billion in chips Lucas had.
“Hmmm…” Lucas appeared to be pondering before he asked, “There’s no limit to the betting, right?”
The first boss nodded, “Whatever makes Mr. Lucio happy, that’s what we’ll play,” he said with a smile.

Lucas nodded, “Well then, let’s play a game, the bet is… one billion dollars.”
