Cunning Lucas

Lucas and Butcher continued their walk in the deep recesses of the farmhouse under Butcher’s lead. Butcher suddenly halted his steps, turned around, and faced Lucas before flashing a chilling smile.
“Chairman, forgive me,” he said before swiftly pulling out a knife and lunging towards Lucas.
….

Cameron sighed, “no, it’s unlikely that the chairman would have frightening individuals under him,” Cameron said, lost in deep thought.
“Tch! Are you really sure that man is just a businessman?” Vlad asked to confirm.
Cameron nodded, “Yes, I am sure. I conducted an investigation on this, and I found no information about him having such people,” Cameron confirmed.
Vlad remained silent but noticed that the noise outside had ceased. “Stay here, I will check the commotion outside first,” he said as he left the pigsty and carefully stepped out of the house.
He moved slowly like a snake, looking around and realizing that no one was following them. He returned inside to report to Cameron, “You can come out now, they’re gone. For now, we need to go to the butcher in that place.”
Cameron left the pigsty, still feeling nauseous from the foul stench of the pig’s excrement, “Let’s go, the butcher must have finished the job,” Cameron said as he checked himself if there was any feces on his body.
“If Lucas is just an ordinary person as you say, it’s not a problem for Butcher, but if he has another identity, we’re both in trouble,” Vlad said, a dark expression crossing his face.
Cameron laughed, “You’ve read too many mafia series, that’s why you’re thinking all sorts of things. You forget we’re not in a novel but in real life, those things only happen in novels.”
“If my suspicion is correct, you will be the first one I eliminate!” Vlad said coldly, giving Cameron a sharp look.
Cameron shuddered at seeing the frightening look in Vlad’s eyes, “Calm down, calm down. Lucas has no other identity than a Tyrant Boss,” he said in a humble tone.
Vlad nodded, “Let’s go, we still need to see Butcher and report what happened,” Vlad glanced back at the scene and noticed the lack of movement but the presence of five black vans, “Based on what happened there, none of our people are left,” he added before clenching his fist.
Cameron felt Vlad’s anger, so he just swallowed hard and said nothing. In truth, only his thugs were there, while Vlad’s people and members of the Mercado Familia were involved.
The two walked towards the depths of the farm house where Butcher was supposed to bury Lucas. After a few minutes of walking, they saw that Butcher and Lucas were nowhere to be found.
“Looks like Butcher has cleaned up the job,” Vlad said.
“He might be digging Lucas’s grave, let’s see,” Cameron said eagerly as they walked towards a red farm house, the place they knew where Lucas would be buried.
“Butcher have you cleaned up-”
Cameron stopped mid-sentence upon entering the house, he was stunned by what he saw, feeling fear and disbelief washing over him.
“Chairman! You’re alive?!” Cameron stammered, unable to believe that Lucas was still alive while calmly seated on a chair, his heart sank as he saw Butcher lifeless on the floor.
Lucas turned around, “Have I disappointed you in your dream?” he asked in a gentle voice.
“Cameron!” Vlad shouted as he recovered, also shocked to enter and see his companion lying lifeless. He grabbed Cameron by the collar, “You said he was just a business tycoon?! How did he kill Butcher?” he angrily demanded, glaring at Cameron.
Cameron panicked and didn’t know what to do. “Wait, calm down, the enemy is in front of us. I don’t know how this happened either. For now, let’s finish the mission. Let’s give them a decent burial and I’ll make sure you are satisfied with the reward I will give.”
Vlad pushed Cameron away and then turned to Lucas, “After I finish this one, you’re next! If you don’t give me the satisfaction of a reward; I’ll kill you!” he said coldly to Cameron.
Cameron shuddered, “Yes, yes, I understand,” he quickly replied.
Vlad walked towards Lucas with a dark expression on his face, “I don’t know how you managed to defeat Butcher, but I can assure you that I will kill you as retribution,” he said menacingly, tapping his fingers before launching an attack on Lucas.
Lucas remained silent and quickly stood up from his seat, moving behind the chair before kicking it towards Vlad.
Vlad deflected the chair, causing it to fly towards Cameron. Cameron felt anxious as he saw the chair flying towards him, quickly dodging and taking cover, watching the intense battle between the two.
Cameron couldn’t believe that Lucas had such skill in combat. He rubbed his eyes, making sure he wasn’t seeing things, “How is this possible? How can the chairman be so proficient in combat!” He exclaimed in disbelief.
Vlad continued his attacks but Lucas casually avoided them. Despite Vlad’s skill in combat, he was not enough to defeat Lucas.
“I never imagined you were this skilled in combat,” Vlad praised Lucas as he continued his assault.
Lucas took a deep breath, looking disappointed, “I never imagined that a soldier of the Mercado Family would be this weak.”
Vlad was surprised and felt something amiss. He stopped his attack and distanced himself, “How did you know I came from the Mercado Family?” he asked in a cautious tone.
Lucas noticed Vlad hesitating with his words, and he smiled. “Didn’t you ask Cameron how I found out?” he said playfully.
Vlad turned to Cameron, giving him a stern look. Cameron, frightened by Vlad’s intimidating gaze, immediately spoke up, “I don’t know what he’s talking about! He’s just making up excuses to pit us against each other!” Cameron shouted.
Lucas smiled, “Didn’t you say after we take all of Edwin Familia’s wealth, we’ll go after the Mercado Familia because they are weak like Edwin?” Lucas said to Cameron, subtly planting doubt between him and Vlad.
“What are you talking about? I don’t know anything like that!” Cameron stammered.
“Cameron, you don’t need to pretend anymore. Our plan is set, and I’ll protect you from Vlad,” he said to Cameron before looking at Vlad, “How many times did Cameron tell you that I’m just an ordinary businessman?” He asked calmly.
Vlad paused before realizing that Cameron had tried to make him believe that Lucas was just an ordinary person. “You have the nerve to deceive me, Cameron!” Vlad angrily said after realizing he was being used by Cameron.
“Hey, hey. I didn’t deceive you. Lucas is just trying to frame me!” Cameron panicked.
Vlad became even angrier after seeing Cameron’s reaction, he was sure that Cameron set him up, “I know now! You are also behind the downfall of the Edwin Familia! You’re good, Cameron!” He said angrily.
Lucas grinned after witnessing the scene before him, “I never thought you were so sharp and would discover all of this.” He said admiringly.
Cameron was more flustered than ever, unsure of how things turned out this way. He didn’t know what to say, “Vlad, listen to me-”
“Don’t speak! Don’t worry, I’ll kill you next after I finish this one!” He said, drawing his gun from his side and pointing it at Lucas before pulling the trigger.
Bang!
