Lucas rolled to avoid the bullet, before he hurled a handful of soil at Vladimir’s face.
Vladimir raised his hand to block Lucas’s attack, but when he lowered his hand, Lucas was no longer in front of him. He looked around and couldn’t find Lucas.
A chill ran down his back and quickly turned around, pointing his gun at his back, Lucas swiftly deflected it upwards. The gun flew up and landed in Lucas’ hand, as he grabbed the gun, he immediately aimed it at Vlad’s temple, “Checkmate,” he said nonchalantly.
Vlad was surprised and frozen in place, knowing that if he resisted, his brain would surely scatter on the floor. Slowly raising his hands, he asked, “I surrender. What do you need?” He knew that Lucas intentionally spared his life.
Lucas smiled, “You’re clever,” before striking Vlad’s head, causing him to lose consciousness.
Cameron, terrified and frozen in his hiding spot, wanted to flee. “Where do you think you’re going?” Lucas asked in a cool tone.
Cameron shuddered, feeling intense trembling in his spine. Slowly turning to Lucas, he said fearfully, “Chairman, I just wanted to-”
“Come here!” Lucas coldly interrupted.
Cameron paled in fear, swallowed hard before carefully approaching in front of Lucas, “Chairman, may I explain?” he asked in a soft voice as he drew closer to Lucas.
“What do you want to explain? Your thirst for power and wealth, or how you plan to thank me through betrayal?” Lucas said coldly before exuding a menacing aura.
Cameron knelt in fear, “Chairman, forgive me, I know I made a mistake. Please don’t kill me; just hand me over to the police,” he pleaded.
“I won’t really kill you. I will make you experience the consequences of betraying me!” Anger was evident in Lucas’s cold tone as he mentioned the word ‘betray.’
Cameron couldn’t understand where this terrifying feeling emanating from Lucas was coming from. He stiffened in his place, unable to stand or speak, feeling as though his body was failing to function properly.
Lucas took out his cellphone and dialed One Eye’s number. It rang only once before the call connected.
“Big Boss, is it time for us to come over?” One Eye asked eagerly, clearly waiting for Lucas’s call.
“Bring Lion and Tiger; come to the middle of the farm house. You’ll see a lone red farm house, enter here,” Lucas ordered before promptly ending the call.
“Tie him up,” Lucas commanded to Cameron.
“Where am I supposed to get a rope?” Cameron asked, still kneeling.
“Look around,” Lucas said before walking towards a chair, which he kicked and sat on.
‘This bastard!’ Cameron thought before giving Lucas a disdainful look.
Cameron stood up and started searching for a rope to tie up the peacefully sleeping Vlad. After a few moments, he found a rope being used for tying up sheep, filled with dung-covered ropes. He felt disgusted to pick it up, but upon seeing Lucas’s intimidating gaze, he swallowed nervously and grabbed the rope before tying Vlad.
Cameron almost vomited while tying him, some dung sticking to his hands, the foul smell of sheep dung lingering, making him nauseous. Unable to bear the stench that reached his stomach, he retched to the side, but upon wiping his mouth, he forgot about the dung on his hands, which ended up on his face and lips, causing him to retch once more in disgust at the nauseating smell and strange taste.
Lucas watched him retch without any reaction. Several minutes passed, and three people entered the farmhouse led by One Eye.
Cameron saw One Eye and felt afraid. Thinking they might be there to kill Lucas because, just like him, they wanted to get their hands on the Luca Group based on their appearance. Cameron grinned at One Eye and inquired, “Boss, what do you need from me?” Waiting for a response.
One Eye looked at him before glancing at Lucas without saying a word, so Cameron thought he wanted to toy with him. ‘This person doesn’t know that we are Big Boss’ men,’ One Eye smirked. “We’re here for the chairman of the Luca Group. We plan to use you against him. Someone informed us that you are a close friend of the Luca Group chairman,” One Eye said.
Cameron didn’t think much, he forgot that they were here for his life earlier, he didn’t think about it anymore. If he could kill Lucas, all he saw in these people were his protectors. “Boss, boss, you’re wrong; I am not close to the chairman, he even wants to kill me. But you’re right on time because here comes the chairman of the Luca Group,” Cameron turned around and pointed to Lucas, “Boss, that’s him, that’s the chairman of the Luca Group, Lucas himself.”
“Oh, he wants to kill you? Why does he want to kill you?” One Eye asked.
Cameron didn’t think much and quickly made up a story. “Boss, I don’t know, he suddenly wanted me dead, thinking I might surpass him and take his chairman position.”
One Eye looked at Vlad and then back at Cameron. “Why do you have a Mercado Familia soldier with you?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.
“They were sent by Mercado to protect me,” Cameron said without much thought.
“Why are you being protected by the Mercados? What’s your connection to them?” One Eye asked coldly, his anger apparent.
Taking a deep breath, One Eye realized that to use these people against Lucas, they needed to trust him. “The truth is, boss, I really planned to take over the Luca Group from the chairman, so I started a rebellion. I sought help from Mercado for protection, hence the presence of some mafia here. But the Don of Mercado is unaware of my plan. I wanted to use some Mercado people for a bigger benefit. Only those who are here protecting me know because I promised them a hefty sum,” Cameron explained.
One Eye nodded, knowing that Mercado was a weak Mafia in Rome. It wasn’t surprising if their members were lured by money to do things their Don was unaware of.
One Eye noticed a hint of doubt on Cameron’s face, as if he wanted to say something but didn’t know if he should. “Speak, what are you hesitant to say?” One Eye said.
Cameron hesitated whether he should reveal something he knew after feeling the coldness in the eyes of the person in front of him towards the Mercado family. He weighed the situation before deciding, “Boss, I will tell you what I know about the Mercados, but promise me that you will protect me from them,” based on what he saw in the recent fight, he believed that One Eye’s group had the capability to protect him.
“Tell me everything you know about the Mercados!” He said coldly, showing that he wanted to kill.
Cameron realized that his hunch was correct that the person in front of him was angry with the Mercado. “Boss, do you intend to go against the Mercado?” he made sure, ‘if this man fought against the Mercados, they would have no way to chase after me.’
“Not only the Mercado, but also those above them, I will destroy them all,” said One Eye before clenching his fist.
Cameron was delighted as he nodded, “Okay, I will tell you what I know, I believe that this information will greatly help you against the Mercado and those above them.”
One Eye nodded, “Go ahead.”
Upon hearing this, Cameron took a deep breath before disclosing what he knew about the Mercados.
