Clyde’s POV
I couldn’t believe that I was running the damn pack alone.
When Sky left, I went to ask for help from my Beta, yet he clearly refused and went on to tell me how I was free to kill him if I wanted to.
I was speechless, and I didn’t know how to respond to that; that’s why I let him be.
I could still feel his intense hatred towards me even after many years had gone by.
I understood him, but I also hated him for that.
“Alpha, are you okay?” one of the lead warriors asked through the pack’s mind-link.
“My damn Beta wants nothing to do with me. My son and his Beta left this pack without a care, and now news of me having a weak bastard for a son is going around the pack, so no, I’m not fine!” I yelled, then quickly got to my feet when I heard loud cheers coming from outside the pack house.
I quickly rushed out of my office and went out of the pack house.
I smiled when my eyes met Sky’s. He stood in front of an open portal, looking just fine.
He was finally back home! I was worried about him, but I knew he was capable of taking good care of himself. That’s why I didn’t want to overthink things.
When Harley stepped out of the portal, my smile grew wider.
“Harley, welcome back,” I said cheerfully.
It was a relief to have her back in the pack; after all, she was a very powerful Luna of this pack and my son’s pillar.
My smile instantly vanished when the weakling Alpha (Glen) stepped out of the portal and it closed.
“What is he doing here?” I asked at the top of my voice.
“Unbelievable, Father!” Sky exclaimed.
“I was gone for quite some time, and all you can say after seeing me again is that? What the hell is wrong with you?” he asked loudly.
I sighed heavily and then took a few steps forward.
“Why are you upset, son? Did something bad happen?” I asked, then frowned when it hit me that Riff wasn’t among them.
“Where is Riff? Did something happen to him?” I asked at the top of my voice.
If something bad were to happen to him, I could see my Beta going insane and spitting in my face.
“Relax, Dad, he will be back soon. I approved his stay in human territory because it was very important to him,” he answered simply as I sighed in relief.
“I’m glad, son, and welcome back,” I said seriously.
When he linked his hand to Harley, I glared at the weak bastard who was looking at them.
“Why the hell is this bastard here?” I asked coldly.
“I believe if he is a bastard, that makes you an even worse piece of shit,” Sky answered.
“Watch it,” my wolf and I growled in warning.
“Or else what, Father? Will you try to get rid of me like you did my twin?” he asked seriously.
Shit, so he did meet Berta, and she talked!
“Why are you quiet, Father? Are you surprised that your supposed dead Luna talked and told us the truth?” he asked loudly as I looked around and noticed how the pack members were beginning to gather around.
“Son, let’s talk in the pack house,” I said in a low tone.
“No, Father, I won’t hide the truth from everyone as you have done for all these years,” he answered at the top of his voice.
“Sky,” I growled in warning.
“No, Father,” he whispered.
“Everyone, listen and pay attention! This Alpha beside me looks exactly like me. That’s because he is my twin brother,” he announced through the pack’s mind-link.
“You fucking brat,” I growled, and I was about to move when Harley stepped in front of him.
I instantly stopped in my tracks.
I still knew what she was capable of. A dragon was never to be crossed or taken lightly.
If angered, she was capable of burning the whole territory to the ground.
To her, it was easy to get rid of me if she wanted to. Keeping away from her was the only right and logical choice I could make at the moment.
“My dear father banished him and my mother because he was born weak. He hated being looked down on because of him, and that’s why our former Beta hates him,” he said as I frowned.
“But he never expected my brother to come back here all grown when he clearly thought of him and our mother as dead,” he said.
“I was surprised when I met him that I decided to leave the pack, find my mother, and hear her explanation. She told me everything,” he said.
“I felt bad because while I had all of you by my side and this pack, he only had our mother. He had the right to be among you all and rule beside me, yet it was taken away from him by our selfish father,” he said as murmurs began to turn into yells.
“When I found out that we shared a mate, I was confused, but then I came to realize that taking her away from him as well would be too cruel,” he said, then continued.
“That’s why I asked him to come and rule by my side. The ceremony of officially welcoming him as the Alpha of this pack will be held tomorrow,” he announced as I clenched my hands into fists.
“He will work hard and try to prove his worth. Although he lacks training, I’m sure he will still become great with the right guidance,” he said, then looked at the bastard.
“I am not asking you to feel pity for him. But I am asking you to please embrace him as you did me and allow him to take back his rightful place, which was taken away from him,” he said as the cheers broke out, startling me.
“We welcome him, Alpha,” I heard different loud voices scream.
“Alpha, please banish the old Alpha; he is heartless and evil!” one voice said in the pack’s mind-link.
My heart instantly picked up, and sweat began to form on my forehead.
I was strong, but Sky was the one in power. If he decided to banish me, all I could do was try to reason because threatening him wasn’t going to make things any better.
“I thought of that as well, but what difference are we when we do the very thing he did to my brother and your former Luna?” he asked as the voices died out.
“We are different from him, and we will prove it by pardoning his sins,” he announced as I sighed in relief.
“But that doesn’t mean he will be allowed in the pack house, because as of today, he is never to step foot in there,” he said as I widened my eyes in shock. The cheers that were heard only made me feel even worse.
He moved closer and stood a step away from me.
“I didn’t tell them how you wanted my brother dead, Father, so you are welcome. But if you do something foolish, I promise you I will tell them everything,” he warned, then walked away with Harley and the bastard.
I stood there, feeling furious yet powerless.
