Sky’s POV
I was very happy to see Harley and the rest return safely. They all looked a little exhausted but still had time to chat with us.
Although Harley was trying very hard not to show it, I could tell that something had changed between her and Glen.
Not only did she look at him as if she were in love, but she also smiled at him every time he looked her way.
“Are you jealous?” Jace asked in a low tone when he looked at me.
“No,” I answered simply and then took a sip from my whiskey glass.
We were all in the living room chatting.
Edith sat on Harvey’s lap while Lillian and Harley sat opposite them.
Glen stood across, close to the entrance, leaning against the wall while I stood behind the liquor counter next to Jace.
“Are you sure?” he asked teasingly.
“I am,” I answered simply and then put the glass cup on the counter.
What was there to be jealous of when I was the one who gave him the approval to approach her?
“Do you not see the way she looks at him?” he asked seriously.
“I do, and I don’t mind at all,” I answered and then smirked.
“What exactly are you planning, Sky?” he asked.
“Me? Nothing,” I answered and then walked to where Harley was.
“Everyone, I am glad that you are all here happily chatting, but let’s not forget that I have a pack to run,” I said loudly.
“We didn’t forget, Alpha Sky; we can never forget,” Harvey answered.
“I’m glad you didn’t, because tomorrow, my mate and I are leaving,” I said seriously.
“The way I know my father, he must be worried sick by now, although he can never show it. My guess is that he is still upset with me, but then he is a retired Alpha. He needs me there no matter what,” I said and then looked at Harley.
“Is it okay if we leave tomorrow, babe?” I asked seriously.
She looked at Glen for a few seconds, then at me, and forced a smile on her face.
“Yes, it is,” she answered in a low tone, then shifted her gaze to the floor.
If I didn’t know her better, I wouldn’t have noticed the sadness in her eyes or her voice.
The way she even looked at Glen was proof enough that she was no longer upset with him.
“Can’t you stay a bit longer?” Lillian asked, surprising me.
She had a concerned expression on her face, and her eyes were fixed on Harley.
“I wish we could, honestly, but I worry for my pack members and how my father is managing things. He is an Alpha, but it’s been so long since he handled everything by himself,” I answered.
“Harley, do you want to remain?” I asked deliberately.
“No, of course not!” she answered at the top of her voice while looking at me.
“Then tomorrow morning we will be leaving this pack,” I said, and then walked out of the room.
I slowly went out of the pack house, counting each minute that passed by silently.
“Brother,” Glen called as I stopped walking and smirked.
I knew he was going to follow me because it was very obvious how he wanted more time with her.
“Yes, brother,” I answered and then turned to face him.
He approached me and stood in front of me.
“Are you really leaving tomorrow?” he asked seriously.
“Of course I am. I may not easily show it, but I’m concerned about our father,” I answered.
“I see. Well then, you should have a good trip,” he said in a low tone.
I moved my hand to his shoulder and then smiled.
“Aren’t you coming with us?” I asked softly.
He looked surprised at my words.
“Are you serious?” he asked loudly.
“Of course I am. I honestly want you to win Harley over,” I answered and then walked past him.
“Sky, will our father be okay with your decision?” he asked me as I stopped in my tracks.
Our father still didn’t show regret over his past actions, and I had doubts if he was ever going to show any when he sees us again.
He hated the fact that he was weaker than us, and that wasn’t going to change any time soon.
“He won’t question it because I am the acting Alpha, not him,” I lied, then turned to face him.
“Brother, when we go home, please don’t expect anything from our father. He won’t give you praise or love, so never hope for such things,” I said, my voice sincere.
“To be honest, I do want him to acknowledge me. But when I think about our mother’s words and story, I can’t help but feel hatred towards him,” he admitted.
“That’s neither good nor bad. So how about you focus on our mate instead and leave the rest behind?” I suggested.
He smiled faintly and nodded.
“I’ll do my best because I really want to make things right,” he replied.
“Heads up, our mate is approaching,” I said when I picked up her scent.
We both turned, waiting as she drew closer.
“You both went out without saying a word, so I was wondering what the problem might be,” she said when she reached us.
“Everything is good, so don’t worry,” I answered and then grabbed her hand in mine.
“Also, I didn’t want to tell you this in front of everyone, but I have decided to share my pack with Glen,” I said seriously.
She looked at him in astonishment, then back at me.
“What?” she asked in a whisper.
“I said I’m going to share my pack with my brother; both of us are going to be the running Alphas,” I answered.
“But… but then… your father will…,”
“Do nothing about it,” I answered, cutting her off, and then looked at Glen, who looked surprised by my words.
I wasn’t thinking of sharing a pack with him until he left with her at Molly’s.
I had a lot to think about, and I decided it was better to have two Alphas than one. Moreover, he was my twin brother; that meant he had as much right to the pack as I did.
“He will work hand in hand with me because my pack is his birthright as well,” I said and then moved my hand to her cheek.
“I know it’s surprising, but I want you to support us back at the pack when my father tries to stand against us. We need your help now more than ever,” I said softly as she smiled.
My father was strong, but he could never stand against the two of us.
If he had other ideas of trying to take out Glen through someone else, I wanted Harley to step in not only as our mate but as our Luna, who everyone feared: a dragon.
