Harley’s POV
I sat between Sky and Glen in silence while Jace, who was driving, sat next to Lillian.
I had no idea why Glen was going with us. All I knew was that something wasn’t right, and I felt somewhat uncomfortable.
As much as I wanted him to be happy, I didn’t want him to anger Sky in any way or make him sad.
When I looked at Glen, I noticed how he was facing the window with one of his hands pressed against it.
He hadn’t said a word since we started off, and he seemed to want to be left alone.
When I shifted my gaze to Sky, he instantly smiled at me.
“Are you okay, babe?” he asked in a low tone.
“Yes, but is it okay to have Jace drive us?” I asked with concern.
“Of course, he is our cousin, and by the way, my Beta chose to bail on me,” he answered.
I moved my hand on his thighs and gently rubbed there.
“I’m sure he will return soon. Also, you have me by your side,” I said softly.
“Of course,” he answered and then leaned in and kissed my forehead.
When he pulled back, he looked at Glen for a second, then looked back at me.
“Tell me when you feel tired or hungry,” he whispered.
I was about to respond when Jace spoke up.
“That won’t be necessary because we have reached the hotel,” he said loudly.
“Hotel? I thought we were going to your pack,” Glen said seriously.
“Well, it’s late, and I don’t want to reach the pack past midnight. I would rather we rest in hotel rooms,” he answered and then looked at Lillian.
“Is that okay with you, dear?” he asked softly.
“Yes,” she answered simply.
“If Harley is okay with it, then we both are, right Glen?” Sky asked loudly, surprising me.
Why was he involving Glen in such a conversation? Didn’t he know how Glen didn’t care much about anyone’s opinion but his?
“Yeah, if Harley is willing to be in a hotel room, then I am okay with it,” he answered.
I raised my brows in surprise and faced him seriously.
He was looking back at me with a calm expression.
“What is it?” he asked softly.
“Uh… it’s nothing,” I answered in a low tone.
“Hey everybody, let’s get out,” Jace said as he stepped out of the car and went around to open the door for Lillian.
I was so surprised that I didn’t even notice him parking the car.
Glen opened the door and stepped out. When he turned and extended his hand to me, I froze.
“Shall we?” he asked softly.
I quickly looked at Sky to see if he was upset with Glen’s actions.
When he smiled at me, I frowned deeply because I couldn’t understand what was going on.
Was he okay with Glen being friendly with me because he trusted me wholeheartedly?
Or was Glen faking being friendly to upset Sky or make him jealous? Either way, I didn’t like what he was doing.
“Sorry, but I can get off on my own,” I answered, then moved, stepping down and ignoring his hand.
When Sky stepped out, I quickly went to his side and linked my hand with his.
He smiled and then gave my hand a squeeze.
“Shall we go in?” he asked.
“Yes,” I answered.
“Wait, everyone,” Glen said loudly.
We all looked at him.
“Before you all go in, let me talk to the manager. I know the owner of this place, and he knows me very well,” he said.
Before anyone could answer, he quickly walked to the hotel’s entrance and went in.
If not for working at Glen’s company, I would have been in awe of how amazing the hotel looked. Even at a distance, one could tell how expensive it was to spend a night there.
“Sky, when we settle in, you and I need to have a serious talk,” Jace said seriously.
“Sure,” Sky answered simply.
When Glen came out with a man behind him, we all focused on him.
“Hi everyone, I am the manager of this hotel. I have come to welcome you all and personally take you to your suites. So please, follow me,” the man said.
“Okay,” Jace answered.
We all went in, following the man into the elevator.
When the elevator door opened on the top floor, we all came out and walked with him into the hallway.
“This first room is yours, sir,” he said, then handed Jace a key card.
“The rest, please follow me,” he said.
We walked behind him to the next room, where he handed Sky a key card as well.
“The rest, please follow me,” the man said.
“No, I’ll sleep with Sky,” I quickly said, surprising Glen.
I didn’t want to sleep alone, and I didn’t want to be next to Glen in any way.
I really wanted to talk to Sky a little more and just spend some time with him.
“Is that okay with you, Sky?” I asked softly.
He smiled and then nodded.
“Absolutely,” he answered happily.
“Um… I guess you can show me my room,” Glen said in a low tone.
“Yes, sir, right away,” the man answered and walked ahead.
Glen looked at me with a sad expression on his face and then shifted his gaze to Sky and smiled.
“You should both sleep well,” he said and then followed the man.
I felt my heart slightly ache over his words, despite not wanting to pay attention to that.
“Shall we go in then?” Sky asked.
“Yes, please,” I answered.
When he touched the door handle, I looked at Glen, who was still walking further.
I sighed softly, feeling bad, then tensed when he stopped walking and looked back at me.
“I feel so sad,” Jade whispered softly.
“Me too,” I whispered back.
“What?” Glen asked, his voice loud and sharp.
“It’s nothing,” I replied, quickly turning to face the door.
When Sky opened it and looked at me, I faked a smile and walked inside.
For some reason, I didn’t want Glen to look like that or leave. It was shameful, but that’s exactly how I felt.
