Glen’s POV
I stood at the door nervously, carefully considering whether to knock on my mother’s door or not.
“Here goes nothing,” I whispered, then raised my hand to knock when the door opened.
I sighed in relief when I saw that Berta was in control.
“Mother,” I whispered, then moved to embrace her.
“I’m glad to see that it’s you in control,” I said honestly, then pulled back.
“Did you come to say goodbye?” she asked softly.
“Yes,” I answered seriously.
“Okay,” she whispered, then grabbed my hand.
“Let’s go downstairs together,” she said.
I smiled and nodded.
We walked downstairs and into the living room, where everyone was.
When they looked at us, Jace and Sky immediately stood up.
“You aren’t sleeping over, are you?” she asked seriously while looking at Sky.
“No, I am not. I have decided to go back with Jace,” he answered.
“I see,” she whispered and then looked at Lillian and Harley.
“You are welcome to visit me anytime you feel like. This is your home as much as it is theirs,” she said softly.
“We will, right, Harley?” Lillian answered and then stood up.
“Of course… Mother, we will be visiting you,” Harley answered.
“I, um… I won’t be going with everyone. I do have a few things to take care of,” Molly announced, getting everyone’s attention.
“Harley, may I have a word with you outside?” she asked.
“Of course,” Harley answered and then went with her.
“Mother, I will come back in a few weeks, so you don’t have to worry. Also, Sophie will take good care of my company; I have absolute trust in her,” I said as Riff stood up.
“About that, I think I too will remain behind,” he said, surprising me.
“What did you just say?” I asked seriously.
“I said I will remain behind, but not for a very long time. Just for a week,” he answered.
“Why?” I asked seriously.
When a few minutes went by in silence, Jace spoke up.
“Because he wants to meet Sophie,” he answered.
“Are you kidding me? Sophie has nothing to do with you or any of you here,” I said loudly.
“That is true, but she has everything to do with Riff because they are mates,” he answered, shocking me.
“What?” I asked in disbelief.
“Cousin, I know how hard it is to believe. I also know how you don’t like Riff and Sky very much, but can’t you just do a good deed for them this once?” he asked.
I kept quiet and then looked at Sky, who was looking back at me.
“Don’t make me regret this,” I said as I pulled my hand away from my mother and grabbed my cell phone from my trousers pocket.
After dialing Sophie’s line, I waited patiently for her to pick up.
“Alpha,” she answered in a respectful tone.
“I have a guest who’s at my mother’s place. Tomorrow, you are going to pick him up and keep him company until my return. Are we clear?” I asked seriously.
“Yes, Alpha,” she answered.
“Sophie, this guest is really important to me. Please take good care of him and give him accommodations,” I said.
“I will do my very best to give him the best accommodations and keep him company. You don’t have to worry,” she answered.
“Thank you,” I said and then disconnected the call.
“Riff, when you feel like going back to your pack, you will ask Sophie to drive you to Jace’s pack,” I said and then looked at Sky.
“Are you okay with your Beta’s decision?” I asked seriously.
“Honestly, I am not. But then again, I want what’s best for him. Also, not to brag, I am pretty sure he will convince her to join our pack,” he answered, annoying me.
“Alpha,” Riff called in warning.
“It’s okay, Riff; he is right. Sooner or later, Sophie will join your pack,” I said seriously.
Every one of our kind knew how mates usually wanted to be together. Only those who didn’t like or love each other chose to be far away from each other.
When Molly and Harley walked in, I cleared my throat to get their attention.
“Molly, you can always sleep here for the night. My mother is a kind soul, and she would love to have your company. Tomorrow, her Delta can drive you back home,” I said seriously as she smiled.
“Also, if you still want to go back to work, I can talk to Sophie,” I added.
“I appreciate it, sir, but I just want to go home. I will sleep here tonight, but tomorrow I am going back home,” she answered.
“Alright then, Jace, I’ll be coming with you to your pack,” I said.
“Why don’t you let Dominic take over?” he asked as I glared at him.
“Kidding,” he said, then moved closer and gave my mother a hug.
“I’ll visit you soon, Aunty Berta. It is also good to talk to you after a very long time,” he said and then pulled back.
When Lillian and Harley moved closer, I took a step back to let them say their final goodbyes.
After they stepped back, I was surprised to see Sky approach our mother. She, too, looked very surprised.
“Um… Mother, I would like to ask you to come with us back to my pack, but I know that you won’t accept that. That’s why I want to say my goodbye here,” he said softly.
She smiled and then raised her hands.
He took a step forward and embraced her.
“I will visit you someday, but for now, I want you to always take good care of yourself and your mate,” she answered and then pulled back.
“If I do get time, I will be visiting you. I hope you don’t mind,” he said.
She smiled and then laughed softly.
“I would really love that a lot,” she answered.
“Well then, let’s get going,” Jace said loudly and then walked out of the room as everyone followed.
The only ones left were Riff, Molly, Sky, and me.
“Why don’t you boys leave now before your cousin gets annoyed at you?” our mother asked.
Although she didn’t look upset, I knew us leaving her alone was going to make her a little sad.
“Mother,” Sky and I called together and then laughed when we looked at each other.
“I will be back soon, so don’t worry,” I said softly.
“And I will call you whenever I am free,” Sky said.
She smiled with tears in her eyes and then moved to hug us together.
We immediately hugged her back happily.
