Sky’s POV
I sat in the dining room, sipping a glass of whiskey while the Delta I had hit stood close to the door entrance, his gaze lowered to the floor.
After the conversation, I made it clear that I wanted a glass of whiskey, and my mother had him serve me. She then excused herself and went upstairs.
Although the Delta still looked terrified of me, he wouldn’t leave the dining room. I had no idea if he was courageous or just very loyal to my mother. Either way, I didn’t like him very much.
“I actually preferred Jace over him by far.”
Jace… my cousin.
He was still in the living room talking to the others while Glen had yet to return with my mate.
“I feel so fucking upset,” I said softly to my wolf.
“I understand,” he answered.
I sighed heavily and then looked at the Delta.
“Why are you still here?” I asked seriously.
“I was ordered to serve you by our Luna,” he answered in a respectful tone and then looked up.
“You call her Luna as if she still has a pack to lead,” I mocked.
“Well, technically she still does have a pack that…”
He stopped talking when I glared at him.
“I apologize,” he said and then lowered his gaze back to the floor.
“Your voice is irritating, Delta, so never speak to me or talk back unless I tell you to,” I said, getting to my feet.
“I apologize, Alpha,” he replied in a low tone.
“He served our mother for years. Don’t you think he deserves some kind of recognition?” my wolf asked.
“Whose side are you on?” I shot back.
“Definitely both,” he answered.
I walked over to the Delta and placed a hand on his shoulder.
He instantly tensed.
“Forget what I said. You can speak whenever you want; after all, you are my mother’s Delta,” I said, and after he looked up and smiled, I walked out.
Once I was outside, I relaxed and slowly began to move around.
I had no idea what was happening between my brother and mate. All I knew was that whatever she had decided or would decide on was what was best for her, and I was going to accept it because I wanted to see her happy.
“Are you really okay with that?” my wolf asked.
“To be honest, I’m not fully comfortable with the idea. But at the same time, I feel terrible for Glen. He’s been through hell, and right now, he needs her more than ever. Besides, you saw how she was looking at him, it wasn’t just pity in her eyes,” I said.
When I picked up Jace’s scent, I reluctantly stopped moving.
“What do you want?” I asked seriously.
“I came to check up on you and see how you were doing,” he answered.
I turned and faced him seriously.
“You can see how I’m doing-you saw it yourself,” I said simply.
“Yes, but are you okay with everything?” he asked with a concerned expression on his face.
“If you are asking me if I am okay with Harley being with Glen, then the answer is yes, I am. I actually wanted her to be with him; you saw that,” I answered and then took another sip from the glass in my hand.
“If you are asking me if I am okay with discovering how my father wanted to kill my twin brother, the answer is no. I am actually very upset over that,” I said honestly.
“And the fact that my mother did that for my brother made me truly respect her, but that doesn’t mean I am still okay with the fact that she never thought of returning to our side,” I said.
“Would you like to come back to my pack and spend a few days there?” he asked, surprising me.
It wasn’t such a bad offer after all. I didn’t want to spend a night at my mother’s house, and I wasn’t planning on staying here for days.
“Will you nag me or treat me like I’m your friend?” I asked seriously.
He smiled and then nodded.
“I feel like I will regret it if I accept your invitation,” I said honestly.
“Is that a no?” he asked with a raised brow.
“I will go with you, Jace, but if you dare nag me or annoy the fuck out of me, I am leaving,” I answered.
“Great, I will inform Lillian about this and see if Molly will be going back to her place or joining us,” he said, and then turned and went back.
I heard the sound of a car ahead, and Harley’s voice soon followed.
I quickly followed her scent, which led me to where they were.
Glen stood in front of her in silence while she was smiling at him.
“You will take a rest, won’t you?” she asked softly.
“I already did, so I am fine,” he answered and then glanced at me.
I moved to his side and stood next to him, looking at her with a smile.
“We are back,” she said calmly.
“I’m glad to see you,” I answered, then took a step forward, leaned in, kissed her forehead, and stepped back.
“Excuse me,” Glen said, then moved.
“You too, brother. I am very happy to see you,” I said, then looked at him.
He had a shocked expression on his face.
“Harley, can you please ask the damn Delta in the dining room to refill this whiskey glass for me?” I asked.
“Of course,” she answered, then took the glass from my hand and walked away.
“Did you ask her to do that because you wanted to talk to me?” he asked.
“Yes,” I answered simply.
“Do you want to warn me off? Don’t worry; I did nothing to her. She is yours; that I understand, so I will not cross the line,” he said seriously.
“Is that what you want?” I asked simply.
“Wh… what do you mean by that?” he asked back, stammering.
“I am asking you if that’s what you truly want,” I answered.
He kept quiet for a few seconds, then spoke.
“I don’t want that because you know how I truly miss and want her by my side,” he answered sadly as tears filled his eyes.
“Then do your best to win her back,” I said.
“What?” he asked at the top of his voice.
“She does love me, that I know, but she still has feelings for you. Us sharing a mate wouldn’t be unheard of because Ian’s twins also share a mate,” I answered.
“Wait, how do you know Ian?” he asked, making me laugh.
“Every Alpha has heard about him and his family, but that’s not what’s important right now. What’s important is what you will do to win Harley back,” I answered.
“Brother, are you seriously not angry about that? Are you truly okay with us sharing her or me being a part of her life?” he asked in disbelief.
“Yes, I am, so do it now before I change my mind and become a selfish bastard. If it ends well, I may even convince her to stay back for a week with you, or you can always join us at Jace’s pack,” I answered and then walked away before he could say another word.
It was the least I could do for him. If Harley rejected him, I knew he would turn rogue.
I didn’t know how, but I could feel it, and I didn’t want Berta to hate me or cry herself to death if something bad were to happen to him.
Besides that, he was my twin brother and blood. I wanted him to be happy, or at least try, because I was certain he, too, would want the same for me.
