Sky’s POV
“Dad, what’s wrong?” I asked with concern as I grabbed his shoulders.
He looked at me seriously, and for the first time, I saw fear in his eyes.
“He can’t be alive; it’s impossible,” he whispered as I frowned.
“Dad, I don’t understand,” I said, and then I looked at Riff when he walked in and moved to my side, standing next to Harley, who was looking at my father with a shocked expression on her face.
“What happened here? Where were you, Riff?” I asked loudly.
“I’m sorry, Alpha. After escorting the guests to the living room, I went to talk to the elderly omegas as you had asked me,” he answered, annoying me.
“I asked you to do that days ago!” I exclaimed.
“I know, but at that time, the one who had the needed information was very sick and could barely talk. Today, when I was mind-linked about her wanting to talk, I went, and that’s where I am coming from,” he answered.
I sighed heavily and then looked at my father.
“Dad, you need rest,” I said softly.
“I do not need rest, and I won’t rest until I make sure that he died that night!” he screamed, then froze in fear when his gaze went to the door.
I frowned and then turned to see what he was looking at.
Jace stood there, still holding Dominic by the hand.
I found out that Glen was human and Dominic was the Alpha wolf due to overhearing his and Harley’s conversation.
“Who asked you to come in?” I asked loudly and then dropped my hands from my father’s shoulders.
“I apologize. We were all concerned when you rushed into the pack house,” Jace answered.
“Everything is fine. Now go away,” I said, then got startled when my father screamed.
“Why are you alive?”
“You shouldn’t be alive!” he screamed, pointing a finger at Dominic, who looked surprised.
“Dad, what’s wrong?” I asked again.
“Sir, I think I know what’s wrong with him. It appears Alpha…” Riff trailed off and pointed at Dominic.
“Dominic,” I whispered.
“Right, it appears Alpha Dominic is your twin brother,” he said as I looked at Harley, then at Dominic.
“You are joking, right? I get that he somehow looks like me, but there is just no way that I have a twin,” I said seriously.
“Sir, he doesn’t somehow look like you; he absolutely looks like you,” Riff pointed out.
“It doesn’t matter if he looks like me or not. What I know, and I’m sure of, is that I don’t have a twin brother. I am an only child, right father?” I asked seriously.
When a few minutes of silence went by, I turned and looked at him.
“Dad, I have no brother or twin, right?” I asked seriously.
He looked at me and then back at Dominic.
“You are right,” he whispered and then looked at me again as I smiled.
“See, I knew it,” I whispered with a smile.
“And wrong at the same time,” he said as my smile vanished.
“I don’t understand,” I said softly.
“Young Alpha, is your mother still alive?” he asked.
Dominic had widened eyes and seemed to be too surprised to say a word.
“Yes, she is alive,” Jace answered on his behalf.
“May I know her name?” he asked.
“Um… she’s Berta, Berta Brown,” Jace answered as my father’s face went pale.
“Dad,” I called softly.
“I see, so she made sure he survived,” he whispered as I frowned.
“What do you mean by that?” I asked seriously.
“Sky, I am afraid that Riff is right. This young Alpha is your twin brother,” he answered as I froze, and for a few seconds, I couldn’t hear a thing.
“Clyde, what the hell did you say?” I asked furiously.
“I said that the young Alpha is indeed your twin brother,” he answered seriously.
“How? When I grew up as an only child! For fuck’s sake, you even told me that my mother was dead!” I screamed at the top of my voice.
“That’s because she’s dead in my heart, and my soul no longer craves for her,” he answered.
I felt like punching him hard across his face for a second; luckily, I still had my reason.
“Then tell me what happened,” I said in a low tone.
I was beginning to feel powerless and uneasy.
“I have nothing to say to you, son. He is your brother, that’s all,” he answered as I clenched my hands into fists.
“Fine, Riff will tell me,” I said.
“I’m sorry, sir. Unfortunately, all that elderly omega said was that you had a twin brother who was weak and that the Luna your mother had to run away to protect him,” he answered.
“Why didn’t you get more information? Like, why did she run away? Who was she protecting him from?” I asked furiously.
“I would have gotten more information from her Alpha if she hadn’t died right when she was telling the story. It was sad and…”
“Get out,” I whispered, cutting him off.
“What?” he asked in a low voice.
“Get out!” I growled loudly.
He quickly rushed out of the room without a single word.
“So you won’t tell me what happened in the past?” I asked my father seriously.
“No,” he answered simply.
“Then I’ll go with Dominic and meet my mother. I’m sure she will tell me everything,” I said.
“No, you can’t leave this pack unprotected. You can’t,” he said loudly.
“Yes, I can, unless you are willing to tell me the truth,” I answered.
“Very well, leave. I can still take good care of this pack in your absence,” he said, surprising me.
This was the first time that my father acted like he didn’t give a shit about me.
“He is not going anywhere,” a lighter voice than Dominic’s said.
I looked at him and chuckled.
“What do you want, Glen? We were doing just fine with Dominic around,” I said when I saw he was the one in control.
“Seriously, Jace, have that witch take us out of this pathetic village before I get sick. Moreover, where the hell is Sophie?” he asked as I raised a brow.
“Holy crap, Sophie,” Jace whispered.
The bastard spoke with pride, and the way he was looking at me, it was as if I were trash!
“What did you call my pack?” I asked.
“Edith, we should start off,” Jace said loudly.
Look at you. Do you think you can intimidate me? Do you know who I am? I don’t care about you or that old guy beside you. I have no interest in this ugly place or the cleaner you’re in love with. So don’t think your position is threatened because it isn’t. I have an amazing life waiting for me at home, and I would be insane to trade it for anything, be it for a day or forever. I also want to assure you that you are as good as dead to my mother because there was never a day she spoke about you,” he answered.
“That’s it! I’m going to fucking rip you apart!” I growled furiously, and I was about to move when my hand was grabbed by my father.
When I looked at him, he shook his head. My heart was aching badly, and my wolf was on the brink of taking over.
“Son, please,” my father whispered through our mind-link.
I took a deep breath and released it.
When I looked at Jace, I blinked back the forming tears.
“Leave, now,” I said with emphasis.
He nodded and then pulled Glen back and away from the entrance.
I was hurting badly, and I didn’t know why.
Was it because of what he said about my mother never mentioning me or giving a fuck about my existence? Or was it because my father, whom I loved and trusted wholeheartedly, had kept such a secret from me?
Either way, I just wanted to be alone and think everything through.
“Excuse me, Riff, make sure no one comes near me today or my room,” I said loudly and then walked out.
