Harley’s POV
“Talk, Glen,” I said seriously once I stood in front of him, and that seemed to shock him because he widened his eyes.
“Harley,” he called softly.
“I said, ‘Talk, Glen.’ I really don’t want to stand here all day,” I said honestly.
“Glen? You really think I’m him?” he asked with a raised brow.
Was he messing around at such a moment? He really was the worst.
“It seems you have nothing serious to say,” I answered, and I was about to turn when he grabbed my hand.
I instantly pulled my hand away. Although the tingles felt nice, I found his touch repulsive.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to grab your hand without permission. I just didn’t want you to leave me here. Um… I don’t know if you remember, but we met at the office. That time I was about to fall and lose my balance, but you helped me into my office,” he said as I glared at him.
“Yes, I also remember you asking me not to touch you. I remember you cursing me out in front of my colleagues and saying harsh, painful words to me in front of the guests at the party. Sir, I remember the day we met when you asked Alfred to take me out like trash, and how you told me I was disgusting and disturbing to look at,” I answered as his expression turned cold.
“That wasn’t me,” he said, making me chuckle softly.
“Oh really?” I asked.
“I am telling you the truth right now; that wasn’t me,” he answered.
“And I do not care, Glen. First of all, why are you even here?” I asked as his expression softened.
“I am here to apologize for the things Glen did to you and to…,”
“You are forgiven. Now can you please leave because you are making Sky angry?” I said, cutting him off before he could finish talking.
“Sky? Are you seriously putting that bastard’s feelings into consideration?” he asked.
“Yes, I am because he means so much to me,” I answered seriously.
“Why? Is it because he looks like us?” he asked as I angrily turned and began to go back. When he grabbed my hand, I turned and slapped him hard across his face.
“Glen, or whoever you are, stay away from me, okay? You wanted my forgiveness, and I granted it to you. Now leave, please! Why are you so selfish and evil? You made my life a living hell, and now that I am so happy here, you arrive out of nowhere to push me into a deeper hell that I have tried my very best to come out of. Does it make you happy seeing me so miserable? Why me?” I asked as tears blurred my vision.
I looked behind and saw how Sky was being held back by Jace. He looked furious, and his eyes were a shade of red; he was trying hard to push him away while growling loudly.
“I am fine, Sky, don’t intervene, please!” I screamed at the top of my voice, and that seemed to work because he stopped growling and struggling. His eyes turned back to their normal color, too.
When I looked back at Glen, he sighed softly and then closed his eyes for a second.
“Seeing you miserable hurts my heart, so there is no way I could be happy. And Glen was wrong to hurt you badly. I, too, am at fault for not stepping in whenever you were sad or yelled at,” he answered softly as tears rolled down my cheeks.
“You asked if I was considerate towards Sky because he looks like you, and the answer is no. Yes, at first, I was very confused because you two are so identical, but the more time I spent with him, it became clear that you are two different men. You are a vile man: selfish and proud, disrespectful, ungrateful, and self-centered, while Sky is the very opposite of all that. I agree I do not know him that well, but in the time we have spent together, he has really been amazing to me,” I said loudly, in a cracked voice, and then wiped away my tears.
“I do not want to go back, nor do I want to continue working for you. I want to stay here beside Sky. I do not care if he is pretending with me because my heart chooses to believe in him,” I said, then frowned in shock when his eyes filled with tears.
“Are you happy?” he asked huskily.
“More happy than I have ever been in my entire life,” I answered honestly.
“I see… I never imagined such a day would come, and never would I have believed, if someone told me I would do this,” he said as my heart picked up.
What was he about to do? Drag me back to his company?
“Harley, may I know your last name?” he asked, confusing me.
“Please,” he whispered.
“I don’t know my surname, and I am not sure if Harley is actually my real name,” I answered honestly.
“Do you know that a simple name or full name has the power to give or take something? They also have the power to break something, be it special or not?” he asked softly.
“I have no time for this, Glen. Please go back. If you want, I will repeat my words. I am happier here than I have ever been in my entire life,” I answered, this time with emphasis.
When he grabbed my hands, I tried to pull them back, but he couldn’t let go.
“Please, stay still,” he whispered in a pained tone.
I instantly stopped trying to break free and looked him in the eyes.
“Thank you,” he said and then cleared his throat.
“I, Dominic Brown, reject you, Harley, as my mate and Luna,” he said as tears ran down his cheeks.
I felt an ache in my chest, and my body began to tremble slightly, but not as much as Glen’s hands. He groaned lowly and then dropped his hands. Sweat was beginning to form on his forehead, and he looked as if he was in so much pain.
I slowly took a few steps back and bumped into a hard chest. When tingles spread throughout my body, the trembling and ache I felt disappeared.
Jace quickly rushed to Dominic’s side, grabbing his arm.
“Are you okay?” he asked softly.
“I am fine; I just want her to be happy, and right now she is,” he answered, then sniffed and looked at me.
“It seems Harley is your real name,” he whispered and then shifted his gaze from me.
“Sky, always make her happy,” he said softly and then forced a smile onto his face as I smiled back with tears filling my eyes.
“Thank you,” Sky’s voice came from behind as his arms went around me.
“I have mind-linked Lillian; we will be starting off,” Jace announced seriously.
After a few minutes, Lillian and Edith came to where we were with puzzled looks on their faces.
“There is an elderly Alpha who is panicking inside; he keeps talking to himself, saying how someone is not supposed to be alive. I feel concerned,” Lillian said.
“Dad,” Sky whispered, and then quickly rushed into the pack house as I followed.
