Maila’s POV
I hated assholes like him, and I wanted to drag him out of the pack house by his ears. I had to remind myself a few times that he was Jace’s family.
A few minutes ago, Lillian was calm and collected until he made it obvious how he wanted to use his mate for his own gain. He made us so furious that we couldn’t stop ourselves when he wanted to attack Harvey. I completely took over and moved with Lillian’s approval.
Seeing him bleed and confused was amusing to me.
“I apologize; you are still family. I didn’t have to hit you; it was just instinct that took over,” I lied and then turned to look at Jace.
He had a pleased expression on his face, and Harvey, too, looked satisfied with my actions.
“Also, next time before you act, do think twice about what consequences you would face after the act,” I said while I sat down next to Jace.
He had a pleased expression on his face, and Harvey, too, looked satisfied with my actions.
“Harvey may be a Beta, but he is also mated to a powerful witch. What would have happened to you if you had ended up hurting him badly and she walked in? Do you think she would have let you leave this pack in one piece?” I asked seriously.
He pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket, wiped his nose and mouth, and then looked at me coldly.
“Do you expect me to thank you for making me bleed?” he asked sarcastically.
“Oh no, I expect you to bow down and kiss the ground I walk on,” I answered furiously, making sure my words were full of dominance.
He frowned as his body began to tremble. I smiled happily when he moved forward to bow down.
He was not only stupid but also full of pride and suicidal, because if he were in his right mind, he could have kept his mouth shut or been respectful when talking to us.
Jace and I were much stronger than he was and more dominant in every way possible. If we wanted him dead by now, he wouldn’t have had a head on his shoulders.
I looked at Jace when he moved his hand to my thigh.
“Didn’t you say he is family?” he asked with a grin.
“That wasn’t me; that was Lillian. I say we mess him up a little before we let him go. How about we make him clean the pack house? No, that would be too lenient. How about making him clean the public toilets and bathrooms that the warriors use after training? Better still, make him sweep the whole pack’s surroundings?” I asked excitedly.
I truly loved the idea of watching the asshole suffer, even if it was for a few hours.
“Oh,” he whispered, and then shifted his gaze to Harvey.
“What do you think, Talic?” he asked as my heart picked up. The one who usually asked Talic for an opinion was Ridge.
When Talic took over, I smiled happily.
“I think it is an excellent idea that the Luna has,” he answered and then gave a low bow.
When Ridge looked at me, I felt like I wanted to hug him tightly and just stay put in his arms. For a week, we did not talk or spend time together.
Jace was busy looking at the new equipment that was delivered to the pack’s clinic, and whenever he had time, Lillian was right there being cozy with him. I wasn’t upset by that, but I wished Ridge would show himself, even if it was just for a moment, because I really wanted to spend some time with him too.
“My love, what’s wrong?” he asked as my heart flustered.
“Let’s make him regret ever being disrespectful to us,” I answered softly, making him smirk.
“Of course,” he whispered and then stood up.
When he extended his hand to me, I quickly took it and stood next to him.
Quickly, I took it and stood next to him.
“I wish we had the ability to make him forget about his mate,” I said, then got a little startled when Glen screamed.
“I’m sorry, please! I was wrong!”
Talic burst out in laughter while Ridge laughed in silence.
“Please, I am so sorry,” he pleaded in a husky voice.
“Look up, Glen,” I said seriously.
He slowly looked up; his nose was bleeding, and veins were showing on his forehead. His eyes were filled with tears, and he was still trembling a bit.
“Is this how you let your human act in front of my mate, even when you knew well how I hate being disrespected?” Ridge asked.
He lowered his gaze and then looked at me. Glen was no longer in control, but his wolf.
“My human does what’s best for us,” he answered coldly.
“I see, so you are ready to die for his mistake, aren’t you, Dominic?” Ridge asked seriously.
He kept quiet for a few minutes, then spoke up.
“I wanted our mate even before I knew what she was, but at the same time, I wanted what was best for my human. How could I hurt him and act selfishly? I was hoping that he would fall for her the more we got closer to her. It was a foolish thought, but I saw how we were both drawn to her and how, deep down, we wanted to experience what it would feel like to have a mate by our side,” he said.
“I tried to stay out of Glen’s way when it came to her, but I found myself influencing him with how I felt, and it worked for some time because he began liking her too. But then it all went wrong, and he asked her to stay away from him. How could I have known he would treat her with disrespect at the party?” he asked seriously.
“You wouldn’t have known what was going to happen at the party, but you could have taken over and shown everyone how you and he thought differently. You were supposed to hold her hand and assure her how you two were different and that you needed “Her. The fact that you did nothing only proved to her and everyone at the party that you and Glen wanted and decided on the same thing,” Ridge answered.
He stood up from the ground and bowed, surprising me.
“Please help me make it right. I want her not for what she is but for who she is,” he whispered.
“Are you saying that you will go against Glen and do things that may tarnish his reputation? Despite your mate being a magnificent being, in the eyes of the humans who know nothing about our kind or supernatural beings, she is a nobody. They will mock and laugh at you for being with a woman who has nothing; some may even try to stay away from you because they won’t agree with that. Are you willing to do that?” Talic asked.
He kept quiet for a few seconds, then nodded.
“I am,” he answered.
“I’m glad you feel that way, Dominic. Sadly, I can’t help you in any way because none of us here helped or saw your mate since that incident at the party,” Ridge said seriously.
“Then let Edith help me, please,” he begged.
“I suggest you find someone else to do that because I won’t allow it. Not after you boldly wanted to attack my Beta in my very own pack. Now, do see yourself out,” Ridge answered seriously.
I didn’t know why, but I found him even sexier whenever he was upset or very serious.
