Jace’s POV
I was so shocked to see that Harvey and I were the only ones left drinking and not drunk. The rest were laughing and chatting so loudly while trying very hard not to pass out.
“It’s sick how my… body did me in the past,” Lillian said, then laughed as everyone laughed with her except me and Harvey.
“Luna, try to speak clearly and make sense. I understood nothing,” Harvey pointed out as they all stopped laughing.
“Oh my gosh!” Edith screamed, startling me.
“He is a popper! So much popper!” She screamed and then laughed as everyone did the same.
“It’s called a party popper and for the record, I’m not,” he answered seriously.
He was beginning to get annoyed at the situation we were in.
“I suggest we call it a night. You take Edith with you and leave Snow and Las to drink themselves to death,” I said and then looked at Lillian who was looking at me coldly.
“We’re not drunk, I… sober. I’ll show you jack… Jackass,” she said in a cracked voice then tried to stand up.
I quickly got to my feet and swept her off her feet before she could fall back.
“As I said, Harvey, let’s call it a night,” I said and then walked out of the room with her in my arms.
“What did I prove?” She asked and then laughed softly as I sighed heavily.
A second ago, I was getting annoyed at them too, but now that she was in my arms, I felt happy seeing her laugh and enjoy her time with the others.
“Do you want us to share a bed?” I asked playfully.
“Yes!” She happily exclaimed and threw her hand in the air as I went to my room and opened the door carefully.
I walked in and shut the door with my foot, then went to the bathroom.
“Bed is there,” she whispered immediately as I had placed her down on the shower floor.
“I know,” I answered simply and then began to take off her upper clothes as she looked at me with a warm smile.
“Are we doing it… in the bathroom?” She asked and then grinned weirdly.
I knelt down and helped her take off the remaining clothes.
“No, we aren’t,” I answered and then stood up and threw the clothes on the floor further away from us.
“Why?” She asked in a whiny voice as I lowered my gaze and began taking off my own clothes.
“Yes, take it all off!” She screamed as I shook my head slightly.
I wasn’t going to look at her body in that way because I didn’t trust myself. Even now I could smell her amazing scent and the excitement that was beginning to build up with each piece of cloth I removed and threw away.
“Hot as hell!” She squalled once I was left with no clothes on me.
She was about to touch my chest when I quickly turned on the shower.
“Why!” She screamed when cold water poured on us.
“I know this is not the right decision to make, but cold water is the only thing I can think of that may help keep us calm,” I answered seriously.
“Dumb,” Ridge whispered as I ignored him and brushed her wet hair back.
“Are you feeling any better?” I asked softly.
“A little,” she answered and then laughed loudly.
When she stopped, she frowned deeply and then quickly rushed to the toilet, leaning forward and began throwing up.
I instantly went to her side and began rubbing her back.
“I had no idea you were a light drinker, if I knew I couldn’t have let you drink this much,” I whispered honestly in concern.
“I’m fine,” she whispered back huskily.
I went to the door, grabbing the two hanging towels and wrapping one around my waist.
I went to her and carefully covered her back.
“Don’t forget to clean your mouth when you are done; you can use a new toothbrush which is on the lower shelf. I’ll go and turn on the AC,” I said and then walked out.
“Perhaps she should sleep in her own room,” I said silently while I turned on the AC.
“A horrible decision,” Ridge answered.
“I know, but look at her, she’s not well. What if I can’t hold myself back? I don’t want to hold her against her will,” I said sadly, then turned to face the bathroom when I heard the sound of the flushing toilet.
“You will and you can, unless otherwise,” he answered.
When she walked out with a towel wrapped around her chest, I moved to her side and wrapped my arm around her shoulders.
“How are you feeling?” I asked seriously.
“Like I could drop down any minute from now. I feel dizzy and nauseated,” she answered in a low tone.
“Come on, you need to lie down,” I said and then slowly walked with her to the bed, helping her lay down.
“Flora, prepare a cup of tea and add some slices of ginger and a little bit of lemon. When you are done, bring it to my room,” I mind-linked her.
“Yes, Alpha,” she answered.
I rushed to the bathroom and grabbed another towel, then went back to her side and knelt down.
“Why aren’t you lying next to me?” she asked softly.
I ignored her words and began wiping her wet hair.
“After drying your hair, you will drink some tea. It will help you feel a lot better, and your nausea will reduce. I will also give you a good massage after you dress up to help you relax,” I said, then stopped what I was doing when she grabbed one of my hands and smiled.
“Have you ever done this for anyone besides me?” she asked, making me chuckle.
“Do I look like the type of guy who would treat a woman like this?” I asked, then cleared my throat when her expression turned cold.
“To be honest, I have never done this for anyone else besides you. Taking care of you right now fills me with pride and happiness. I’m actually glad I never did anything romantic for anyone. I just attempted to try, and that wasn’t because I wanted to, but to keep up appearances for our pack members,” I said as she smiled.
“I’m sorry for causing you trouble,” she whispered.
“It’s nothing. I got to see your funny and drunk self, so it’s still a win,” I answered.
“I am not drunk,” she muttered as I chuckled softly.
“Surprisingly, no, you were though,” I answered and then dropped the towel and brushed her hair back with my fingers as she closed her eyes.
Beautiful, I thought as I leaned in to kiss her forehead but stopped when I picked up Flora’s scent.
I stood up and walked to the door, opening it before she could knock.
“Thank you for the tea. Now, can you please check up on Las and Snow? They were drinking so much,” I said as she nodded and then gave a low bow when I took the tray from her hands.
“Great,” I whispered and then went back and put the tray on the bedside table.
“Hey,” I whispered softly.
When she opened her eyes and looked at me, I smiled.
“You need to take a few sips from this cup,” I said softly.
“Do I have to?” she asked in a low tone.
“Yes, you do. If you finish the whole cup, I’ll hold you throughout the night,” I answered.
“Deal,” she said happily and then sat upright and extended her hand.
I smirked and grabbed the cup, passing it to her.
I knew I was digging my own grave, but then again, I was looking forward to just holding her in my arms and watching her sleep.
