chapter 73

Book:THE ALPHA'S REKINDLED BOND Published:2025-2-8

Snow’s POV
I had a lot of thoughts going through my mind, and I felt bad thinking back on what had happened. Was our desperation to cling to Leah due to us being mateless?
Just seeing the Alpha and Luna walk into the pack house hand in hand made me sad and cursed for not finding someone who was meant only for us.
“Paul,” I called in a whisper, hoping he would awaken from our subconscious.
“Don’t you think it’s enough sleep for once? Should I forcefully wake you up?” I asked.
I was about to do so when I heard footsteps approach me.
“Snow,” Harvey called from behind.
I turned and looked at him, then faked a smile.
From the forest to the pack house, he and Edith were trying their best to make me take my mind off everything, but it wasn’t working. I was very grateful to them, sadly, I got annoyed too.
“What is it?” I answered simply.
“Are we going in right now?” he asked.
“I will, just not right now,” I answered simply as Edith approached us.
“If it makes you feel any better, that stupid girl who was locked up in the punishment room… wait, what was her name again?” she asked.
“Sylvia,” Harvey answered.
“Yes, Sylvia. She died in that locked room. She wasn’t eating or drinking anything because she wasn’t given any. The warriors recently found out, and I was too busy with my thoughts to even tell anyone,” Edith said and then laughed softly as we looked at her seriously.
What the hell was wrong with her? I had no interest in that she-wolf, and I didn’t even know her that well. Was she trying to mock me for trying to be alone and think things through?
“I’m sorry, are you mocking me, or was that supposed to be a joke to cheer me up? If so, then you suck,” I calmly told her as her expression turned cold.
“Jeez, I wish I had kept my mouth shut,” she muttered.
“Snow, it’s not a joke. That she-wolf did indeed die. Edith was just trying to take your mind off things, that’s why she thought of saying what she could think of,” Harvey answered as I raised a brow.
“Okay,” I answered after hesitation.
“I’m sorry, I thought hearing this would take your mind off Leah. We can both tell how hard it is for you. You may not have loved her like Paul did, but you did have feelings for her,” she said as I rubbed my forehead and took in a deep breath.
“Thank you for your concern, Edith. I also apologize for being rude,” I answered and then smiled again.
“Hey, how about you go in and prepare some liquor for us. I’ll soon join you after having a word with Snow,” he said and then leaned in and kissed her head lightly.
“Okay, just don’t take too long,” she answered, then walked into the pack house.
“Talk to me,” he whispered as I glared at him.
“What is it that you want to talk to me about?” I asked seriously and then smiled genuinely when Talic took over.
“Your smile is finally genuine yet it’s not hiding your loneliness well,” he said as I nodded.
“Brother, I feel like shit right now. I know Paul is having it hard too but I am trying to hold on for the both of us,” I whispered.
“Also, I am envious,” I said honestly.
“Of us?” He asked.
“Yes, I am very envious towards you and the Alpha. I don’t know how Las is keeping his cool, but it’s so sad being mateless and seeing you, our close friends have your own other half,” I answered sincerely.
“If that’s what has been bothering you for a long time, then shall we travel?” he asked seriously.
“What?” I asked.
“I asked if it’s okay for us to travel. Mates who are hard to find aren’t usually in close by packs. They are usually in faraway packs if not in human territory,” he answered.
“Hell no. I am not going to leave my Alpha’s side for such a selfish reason, that’s sick,” I said seriously.
I was very annoyed by his suggestion. In our pack, there was never a pack member who had left the pack to travel just in search of a mate. Not only would that be a stupid reason, as a beta, that only showed how desperate I was. It was a weak thing to do.
“It’s not a selfish reason, Snow. If you really want to find her, then let’s go looking,” he answered.
“No!” I exclaimed.
“Fine, if you don’t want that, then there is nothing we can do about it. Just try and find an ideal she-wolf who you will form a relationship with. It will take your mind off things,” he said as I chuckled.
“With my luck, she too will be the betraying type. So no thank you to relationships or going for someone who isn’t my mate. I will be okay, that I know, after all it’s just a matter of time,” I answered and then turned and walked into the pack house following the scent of liquor and where the noise was coming from.
“Where are those two?” Jace asked.
I walked into the movie room and then waved at them.
“Here. I’m here,” I answered.
They were all sitting on a fluffy mat surrounding a low table. On the table was a bottle of tequila, whiskey, wine, glass shots, wine glasses, and a small bottle of wolfsbane.
“Let me guess, Talic and the Alpha are going for whiskey. Then tequila is for me and Las. Wine is for the ladies, right?” I asked when I sat down joining them.
“Well, yes, do you want to join us in drinking whiskey?” Jace asked as I quickly shook my head.
“No, I prefer tequila more,” I answered and then looked around.
“Why isn’t Las here?” I asked, then grabbed the tequila bottle.
“I am glad you guys are safe. But then why wouldn’t you bother telling me we are having a drinking party?” Las asked in the passage.
“It’s not a drinking party, and you are here already, so quit complaining,” Talic answered and then walked in with him.
When they sat on each of my sides, I looked at them.
“What now?” I asked.
“Nothing, let’s just drink ourselves to death,” Talic answered and then looked at Las with a mischievous smile.
I knew then and there how he wasn’t messing around. We were seriously going to drink ourselves to death.
