Sol’s POV
I stepped out of the bathroom and quickly moved to the wardrobe to dress up.
My mate’s scent was stuck on my clothes, and I didn’t want my wife to find out.
“Sir, she is settled in,” Joan mind-linked me.
“Good. Is the Omega already there?” I asked.
“Yes, sir, she is there and by now she must be wrapping up,” he answered.
“I will be there soon, but first I have to have a word with my wife,” I said, then walked out of the room once I was done.
I went into the living room where I found her reading a story to our pups.
“You are back,” she whispered when she looked at me.
“Yes, my heart,” I answered and then moved closer and leaned in, kissing her head.
“My heart, can you take a walk with me?” I asked seriously.
“I would love to, but I can’t just leave the pups all alone,” she answered.
“I’ll mind-link Joan to look after them,” I said.
She kept quiet for a second with a concerned expression on her face then nodded.
“Get over here, right now,” I commanded Joan through our mind-link and then waited for him to come over.
When he walked in, he gave us a bow as the pups giggled happily. They really liked him a lot, and they were very comfortable around him.
“Joan, I’m sorry that we had to rush you here. But please look after the pups for us; there is something that my mate wants to discuss with me,” she said as Joan looked at me with widened eyes.
I knew what he wanted to ask me. He really was questioning me silently if I was going to tell my wife everything.
“We won’t take long,” I said and then extended my hand to my wife, who happily stood up and grabbed it.
“Just make sure the kids stay safe,” I said and then walked out of the room with her.
When we came out of the pack house, I began wondering where to start from.
I didn’t want to tell her everything, but at the same time, I didn’t want to keep her in the dark.
“It had been a long time since you invited me out for a walk,” she said softly as I laughed nervously.
She stopped walking and then looked at me, and I did the same.
“Ilie mou, something is wrong, isn’t it?” she asked seriously.
“No, everything is okay,” I answered.
She pressed her warm hand against my cheek and smiled.
“I swear on the moon goddess, whatever it is, we will handle it together, so do tell me,” she whispered.
I grabbed her hand from my cheek and kissed it gently with a soft smile.
“I didn’t know how to tell you this. Actually, I still don’t know how to tell you this,” I said with a heavy heart.
“Ilie mou,” she called softly.
“Remember Joan called me to go to the border? That’s because there was a rogue that had crossed it,” I said as she frowned.
“All rogues are put into the dungeon prison or killed,” she answered as I nodded.
“This specific she-wolf requested to see the Alpha before anything. She actually begged, that’s why I decided to see her,” I lied.
“Go on,” she encouraged me.
“When I met her, I was in shock and disbelief because… well, because…” I stopped talking and then took a deep breath and released it.
“She was my mate,” I said as she gasped loudly and then took a step back, pulling her hand away.
“What?” she asked.
“I said I was very shocked because that she-wolf at the border turned out to be my mate,” I answered.
She kept quiet, then took a step closer.
“Where is she now? Please tell me that you managed to send her away,” she said as I sadly lowered my gaze to the ground.
“Oh, I see, you didn’t send her away. Then where is she? Is she in the dungeon where all the surviving rogues are kept?” she asked.
“No, she’s at our cottage,” I answered in a low tone.
“What!” she exclaimed and then moved her hand to my chin, making me gaze into her eyes.
“Elie mou, did you just say our cottage?” she asked, as I sadly nodded.
“I’m sorry,” I whispered as tears clouded her eyes.
“Why, why did you not send her away?” she asked in a cracked voice.
“I don’t know, to be honest. All I felt in that moment was that she needed my protection and warmth. I’m not saying that I want her over you or that I will be with her,” I said, ignoring the loud growls from my wolf towards me.
“Then what exactly are you saying? You gave her our honeymoon cottage already!” she screamed and then raised her hand close to my face.
“No, yelling won’t do a thing,” she whispered and then turned, walking away.
“Shit,” I whispered, then followed her.
When I noticed that she was going to the cottage, I ran ahead and tried to stop her, but she couldn’t stop. When she reached the cottage, she knocked loudly while I pleaded with her to go back.
“The door opened, and my mate stood there, looking very different from when she had crossed the border. Unlike before, her hair was clean and dried nicely. The strapless dress she wore highlighted her flawless skin, and she smelled divine and looked beautiful.”
“Hey, did you miss me already?” She asked me, ignoring my wife who was looking at her furiously.
“Since you act as if I’m invisible, you must have an idea who I am. So why don’t I get straight to the point. Get out of this pack; my husband doesn’t need you,” she said as my mate smiled.
“It looks as if you are the shameless type. You already spread your legs to a man that doesn’t belong to you, and yet here you are trying to kick me out of the pack when I’m the one who is meant to stand by his side as Luna,” she fired back, then gasped when Amara raised her hand to slap her.
I found myself quickly moving between them and receiving the blow on her behalf.
” !” Amara exclaimed.
She was about to touch my cheek when my mate pulled me back and growled at her loudly.
She tensed for a second because she was still a lower rank compared to my mate.
“Our pups are waiting for us; we need to go back now,” she whispered in a cracked voice and then extended her hand to me.
Before I could hesitate, my wolf pulled through, and without a second thought, moved and grabbed her hand, making her sigh in relief as a tear rolled on her cheek.
He liked our mate, but the love he felt for our wife was greater than our fear.
He pulled her to him and swept her off of her feet, walking away with her and leaving our mate alone and speechless.
