Leah’s POV
As I walked past the border, I flinched and then looked on each side. Although no one came into view, I could tell that some warriors were hiding close to the trees observing me.
“I know you are out there,” I said loudly.
A few seconds went by before they slowly came out, with Harvey standing proudly in front of them.
“Leah, where the hell were you? Don’t you realize that the Alpha knew immediately you had crossed the border?” he asked seriously as I chuckled softly.
“So what, Harvey, or should I say Talic? Please do tell me this. If you were abandoned and rejected by the very she-wolf you thought was yours, how could you cope?” I asked as he kept quiet.
“Exactly, that’s what I thought. You don’t have an answer, do you? Because you know damn well it will weigh in my favor. Do you know what the Alpha told me when I confronted him?” I asked furiously.
He sighed heavily and then shifted his gaze to one of his warriors.
“Oh, why am I even asking when you don’t know,” I said softly.
“After being together for so many years, Jace looked at me and said he didn’t want me anymore. Not because I’m no longer attractive to him, but because his heart now belonged to another. Did you expect me to stay put and cry my eyes out for everyone to see, like some weak she-wolf? I needed to breathe and be very far away from everyone. Only when I was alone did I break down. That’s the reason why I crossed the border. But if what I have done is unforgivable and hard to understand, then please punish me,” I said seriously.
He sighed loudly and then looked at me.
“I’ll talk to the Alpha and inform him about what is going on. For now, warriors, go back. All of you,” he ordered as they all gave a bow and left us.
“What now?” I asked seriously when he took a few steps closer and stood in front of me.
“I don’t care if you were faking the truth or not, Leah. All I can say right now is that I hope wholeheartedly you aren’t planning on doing something stupid. Many may not know you very well, but I do. You have never in your whole entire life given up on something that was once yours without a fight. You throwing everything away is fine, but something or someone leaving you, no, it doesn’t end well,” he said and then smiled and moved his hand to my cheek, brushing two of his fingers there.
“Trade lightly and think through carefully because one mistake may lead you to losing your head,” he whispered and then turned and walked away as I stood frozen in place.
“Forget me feeling pity for this damn pack. Burn it all down, Lucia, I want everyone dead,” I said with emphasis.
“See, I knew you would come to your senses and accept my plan,” she answered, then purred.
For quite some time, I was in shock over meeting our mate that I couldn’t bring myself to even say a word. As Lucia spoke to him, all I could do was stare in awe over how he looked. He gave off this savage aura, and he looked dangerous. I couldn’t admit it there and then, but he was really good-looking.
I adored Jace for what he had and for the status he had; that’s what most pack members thought. But the truth was that I was head over heels in love with him. I loved everything that came out of our relationship. Not only was my wardrobe filled with the latest designer clothes, the respect I had was that of a Luna. I was worshiped by warriors and envied by she-wolves, but that was only the tip of the iceberg because to me, being loved by him and loving him in return was what I lived for. That’s why I wasn’t going to let some good-for-nothing brat take him away from me.
To me, a pack without pack members meant nothing as long as I had the Alpha. As long as Jace lived, we could have our happiness.
I walked back to the pack house with a fake smile plastered on my face. But each time I passed by a few she-wolves, they murmured something while some were laughing softly.
“Ignore them,” Lucia warned.
“Fine,” I answered and then walked past another group of she-wolves.
“How the mighty have fallen,” one whispered, and that instantly made me halt my movements.
“Excuse me,” I whispered and then turned and faced them.
“What exactly did you say?” I asked simply.
“Nothing,” one answered.
“Oh, I guess it’s all in my head,” I said, then turned to walk away.
“Probably, bitch,” the same voice whispered.
I quickly turned and looked at them coldly.
“Stupid,” she whispered, this time making sure I could see her.
I walked to her and raised my hand to strike when a loud growl made me freeze.
“Leah, the Alpha wants to have a word with you, right now,” the Gamma said behind me as I smirked.
I knew it, it wasn’t going to be long until he came around. After all, I was his lover and cherished Luna.
“Always be grateful to the moon goddess that you are still alive. If not for the Gamma stopping me, I would have ripped your head off,” I said, making sure my wolf pulled through to give them a fair warning. They quickly lowered their gaze to the ground in silence.
For such low ranks, they sure had guts to speak big. Whoever was feeding them such courage hated them enough to sacrifice them to me.
“Now if you excuse me, Omegas, my man and Alpha is craving for me yet again, that’s why he’s summoning me. I don’t even get why I was almost offended by your barking,” I said playfully and then turned and quickly rushed into the pack house following his scent that led me into his office.
When I touched the handle, I sighed heavily, detecting that he wasn’t alone.
“Jace, it’s me,” I said softly and then walked in with a smile.
He sat behind his desk, looking at me with Harvey standing next to him.
“I am so happy and thrilled to have you call for me,” I said happily once I had sat down opposite him.
He moved his hands to the desk and placed them there.
“I heard everything from Harvey. So what do you have to say for yourself?” he asked.
What? Crossing the border wasn’t prohibited. Well, it wasn’t allowed either unless one got permission from either the Alpha, Beta, Gamma, or Delta. Not only was it considered dangerous to go out, it was in the rules not to. Anyone who wanted to have a run or just enjoy the breeze in their wolf form, they were to do that in the territory. Since it was a very big territory, it had rivers, woods, forests, a mountain, and amazing large fields.
“I am so sorry to worry you, I just needed some air. You know that I love you, right? Seeing you yell at me and speak harshly almost broke my heart, that’s why I decided to play rebellious to get your attention,” I answered in a soft whining voice.
“I see,” he whispered and then stood up.
“Harvey, tie her with silver chains for a few days in the punishment room and have two trusted warriors guard her. No water or food should be given to her, and under no circumstances should you allow her to excuse herself or relieve herself in any way,” he said and then walked out, leaving me shocked.
No. No way was he punishing me.
It was all a lie. There was just no way!
