chapter 29

Book:THE ALPHA'S REKINDLED BOND Published:2025-2-8

Maila’s POV
Having power felt so unreal to us. It also felt good and almost addictive having everyone look at us differently and with a hint of fear.
“I’m glad you are accepting what we are capable of doing,” I said to Lillian and then threw myself on the bed as memories of our mate began invading our mind.
I wanted to know if he was back on his feet or not. A tiny part of me badly wanted to check up on him.
“You are worried,” Lillian whispered as I groaned softly and then sat upright.
“I am not,” I lied, then got to my feet and walked to the door, stepping out of the room.
What we needed was a walk to take our minds off things again.
Although things were different, it still felt nice to just walk around nature. I was about to go downstairs when I heard Jace’s voice coming from downstairs.
I looked ahead and saw him talking to Talic. He looked very concerned.
“Don’t let her go,” he told Talic as he frowned deeply.
“I wish I could do more, Alpha, but I feel like her decision is already made,” Talic responded.
“Forget it. If you can’t make her stay, then go with her. You can’t repeat my mistake, never,” he whispered in a sad tone.
Talic forced a smile on his face and then nodded.
“I will do my very best,” he answered.
I held in a growl when Leah walked in with the brightest smile.
“Alpha!” She exclaimed happily and ran to his side. Before she could wrap her arms around him, I found myself running downstairs at full speed and pushing her back with force, sending her flying in mid-air and hitting the floor loudly with a cry.
I turned and looked at Jace furiously.
“You never learn, do you? I knew it, that’s why I… mmmm,”
I widened my eyes when he placed his hand on my mouth.
“Please, don’t reject me,” he whispered in a cracked voice as I stood there speechless.
I wasn’t going to reject him, at least not for now! All I wanted to tell him was how I would never beg for his attention or care.
“Please,” he whispered again as tears filled his eyes. When he dropped his slightly trembling and sniffed, it made me feel sad, but I had to play it off like I was feeling happy.
“Do you really want me to overlook this?” I asked.
“No, I didn’t respond to her nor entertain her in any way,” he answered at the top of his voice immediately after I had finished my sentence.
“Oh no Jace, it’s not what you have done but the mere image of you displeases me. Just looking at you, Talic, and that slut angers me. And that’s not only it, I hate you very much,” I yelled as he moved his hand to cover his face.
Lillian tried to take over when the scent of his tears reached our nose, but I couldn’t let her because if I did, his tears would be our weakness.
What did he do every time we had shed ours a thousand times? He never once showed mercy but laughed in our face.
“Jace, do you want me to look at you as my mate?” I asked after a few minutes had gone by.
“Please,” he answered in a low, cracked voice as he wiped away his tears.
“Then how about you drink an overdose of wolfsbane,” I said with a smile.
“What the hell is wrong with you? That will kill him!” Talic exclaimed.
“Why are you still here? When it’s clear that I had forgotten about your very existence a second ago?” I asked sarcastically as I looked at him.
“He was wrong, Luna, so please show mercy,” he pleaded seriously as I angrily raised my hand for a second to hit him but stopped.
“Where were you when he abused us, huh? He hurt us with words and his fists! He even embraced another woman when we had saved our purity for him! No, you too were so into it. Did it please you to see us laying on the ground defenseless, in pain, and under your fists?” I growled furiously as I dropped my hand down.
“No, Luna,” he answered and then lowered his gaze to the ground.
Weak! Now that we were stronger, he was afraid to even admit the truth.
“I’ll do it,” Jace said, fully capturing my attention and surprising me.
“What?” I asked in a whisper.
“I said, I will do it,” he answered and then smiled sadly at me.
I didn’t know what he was trying to do, but he wasn’t going to get any sympathy from me, and I wasn’t serious about taking him back. I just wanted him to suffer for as long as he could.
“You have heard the Alpha, Talic. Go and bring wolfsbane,” I said as he looked at Jace seriously, as if to confirm with him.
“Do it,” he commanded.
“No… please, Alpha, you can’t do that!” Leah screamed, making me see red.
I was about to move when Jace grabbed my hand.
“Please allow me to send her off,” he said as my heart began to beat rapidly.
Why was he asking me that? Did he fear that I would hurt his lover!
When a few minutes went by without my response, he moved and went to Leah, who quickly got to her feet with a hopeful smile.
“Leah, you do know that I have a mate, right? I wouldn’t want to make her sad or hurt in any way. That’s why I ask you to never show your face in front of us,” he said calmly as her smile faded.
Why was he protecting her? Did he treasure that slut very much even when he was asking me to give him a chance?
“What are you saying, Alpha?” She asked seriously.
“I’m telling you to never ever look my way or my mate’s,” he answered as she chuckled mockingly.
“I can’t believe this is what you are saying after all we have been through. Look at her and look at me, Alpha Jace. I’m ten times hotter and better than her. I can’t believe you are siding with a servant over…”
She gasped then began crawling at the hand that was pressed around her neck, choking her. Talic and I were too surprised by what was happening to even react.
“Never in your fucking pathetic life should you ever think you are above my fucking mate! She’s gorgeous and amazing. As if that’s not enough, she looks like a fucking angel merged with a sexy temptress. Her figure is crazy, and her skin is so soft that I wish every day I could embrace her very being dearly. She’s down to earth, and just the thought of her touching me in any way gets me aroused. The only reason I asked you to leave instead of ripping your head off wasn’t that I feel anything for you; it’s because of the respect I have towards your late parents. If I ever hear you disrespect or say bad words about Lillian, I’ll slaughter you. Am I clear?” He asked seriously, with dominance and anger laced through his voice.
She opened her mouth to say something but she couldn’t as she was struggling to breathe.
He dropped her carelessly on the floor and then sighed heavily.
“Now get the fuck out,” he ordered.
She quickly got to her feet and rushed out sobbing without a word.
He turned and looked at Talic furiously.
“Are you also fucking deaf? Did you not hear her when she ordered you to bring the fucking wolfsbane to me or not?” He yelled at the top of his voice.
Talic quickly bowed and then rushed upstairs with a frown on his face.
What was he really trying to achieve by doing all this? I asked myself silently as I looked at him coldly.
He brushed his hand through his hair as I swallowed hard. No matter how much I wanted to hate him, I still couldn’t deny the fact that he was very good-looking and handsome.
“It’s not that I want to win you over, I swear by the moon goddess. I am doing this because she was disrespectful towards you,” he said as I laughed with tears forming in my eyes.
