Maila’s POV
I slowly walked to the open balcony, ignoring the pain I felt throughout my body, and stood there looking at the sky. My throat was painfully dry, and my body was sweaty.
So, I was back to the hellhole Lillian and I hated? It really was funny.
When I looked at my pale hands, I sighed softly. On my wrist, there was a diamond bracelet that I had never seen.
“Witch, hand me a mirror,” I said huskily while I moved my hands to my ears to touch the earrings there.
“I have a name, Lillian. I’m called Edith,” she answered.
“I am not Lillian,” I whispered.
She was still calling me by that name when she already knew I wasn’t her. Lillian was quiet and trying to accept our harsh fate. She couldn’t believe how we were drowned just like that because we were weak, but what troubled me was how I felt now.
I felt power and strength I had never felt before back then when we were still alive.
I tensed when I heard light footsteps approaching me and the disgusting scent that made me nauseous invade my nostrils.
“Luna, here is the mirror,” the Beta said in a soft voice behind me, then touched my shoulder.
In just a second, I turned, grabbing him by the neck and slamming him against the floor with a loud growl as the ground cracked.
He looked terrified as a whimper escaped his lips.
Seeing him with widened eyes, trembling beneath me made me feel so good. I raised my free hand to dig my claws into his chest when Edith spoke.
“No, you promised!” She exclaimed.
I looked at her furiously for a second and then slowly lowered my hand. She was in luck because I always kept my word.
“Never should he ever touch me,” I growled low, then got off him and smiled innocently.
He was breathing in pants, and sweat was running down his forehead.
“Oh dear, you broke the mirror,” I whispered, then walked to the broken pieces on the floor and picked up one.
I looked at him seriously as I began to clench it tightly, ignoring the pain I felt as it tore into my skin and blood began to drip.
Edith quickly rushed in front of him, facing me and blocking my view.
“This pack needs a little discipline, don’t you agree?” I asked once I had dropped the bloody glass on the ground and watched it shatter into even smaller pieces.
“What do you mean?” Edith asked.
“I asked for a few she-wolves to tend to me, yet no one has rushed their ass here to serve me. Is it because it was that bastard’s order?” I asked.
“I… I… will mind-link them right away, Luna,” the Beta answered in a cracked voice while he shakily got to his feet.
Edith quickly linked her hand to his for support.
“How pathetic,” I muttered as they both looked at me.
“Couples disgust me,” I said with a smile, then looked at the door when it opened and three she-wolves walked in.
“We are here, Beta,” they said together with a bow.
“Quickly help the Luna bathe and dress up,” he ordered.
“Oh, Luna Leah was already tended to,” one of them answered with confidence as I looked at her with an aching heart.
I took a step forward, then stopped when the Beta quickly bowed low.
“Please spare her, show mercy. She’s just a young brat,” he pleaded as I ignored him and walked towards her.
They all had shocked expressions on their faces as if they had seen a ghost.
“Do you not recognize me?” I asked once I stood in front of her.
“Lillian, but how?” The she-wolf asked in a whisper while the other two quickly bared their necks in silence.
They were quite clever, unlike the dumb bitch in front of me.
“What’s your name?” I asked softly as she glared at me.
Uh, the attitude, how I missed it.
“Bree,” she answered coldly.
I walked to the bed and sat down, looking at her.
“Bree, please pick up those broken glasses for me,” I said as she frowned deeply.
“What?” she asked loudly.
“While you are at it, make sure they tear into your flesh as you do,” I commanded, this time making sure my dominance was lanced through my voice and aura.
She groaned low then slowly moved as a trail of blood rolled from her nose. She was trying so hard to fight my command, and that was slowly hurting her badly from the inside.
Commands were simple. They were words bound with dominance and control. If anyone high up gave a command, those below them had to follow it willingly. If they tried to rebel or fight it, the command still took effect and made them do it but at the cost of pain. The more one fought a command, the more pain they experienced. To those that were stubborn, they ended up losing their lives.
She fell to her knees with tears and moved her hands to grab the broken glasses roughly as they cut into her flesh.
She closed her eyes as her sobs became louder.
“Come on, don’t be such a baby. I already did it and it was so much fun,” I said, then looked at my bloody hand, which had already healed.
“Lillian, I was wrong,” she cried when she opened her eyes.
Veins were showing on her forehead, and her nosebleed was getting worse.
“What did you call me?” I asked seriously.
“Luna, please show mercy,” she cried louder.
“Beta, what do you think? Should I show mercy to a child that disrespected me thrice?” I asked.
He looked at Edith, then lowered his gaze to the ground in silence.
“Yes, you should. The child may have walked in without knocking and spoke to you with pride and out of turn, but that was because she was confused. You were dead, Lillian, so it’s surprising to see you alive,” Edith answered.
She was the only one with enough courage to speak up. If she was a part of our pack back then when Lillian and I were suffering, would she have taken our side and spoken against the bastard’s orders to free us? I wondered.
“Lillian, please let the child go,” she said seriously.
“Fine, they can go,” I answered simply.
The girl raised her brows as if to confirm if I was truly letting her go.
“I said get out, all of you,” I said as the girl stood up with wobbly legs and bowed low to her waist.
“Thank you, Luna, for showing mercy,” she said in a pained voice then quickly rushed out of the room with the other two she-wolves.
I needed them to spread the word to everyone in the pack on my awakening, so it was good that they were kept alive for now.
“Thank you,” Edith whispered.
“Whatever,” I muttered, then stood up.
“Beta, find someone who is capable of showing manners and respect to me. One who is capable of taking care of my things. I need this room cleaned and this bastard taken out of here,” I said as I pointed at Jace.
I wanted him out of the room because no matter how much I didn’t want him, his scent was very pleasing to me. That’s why I was going to get the room that was filled with his scent.
