Book:THE ALPHA'S REKINDLED BOND Published:2025-2-8

Paul’s POV
We rushed into the guest bedroom quickly.
The healer was already at the Alpha’s side, taking care of him.
After she had gone to see Lillian’s dead body, she bowed down and apologized because there was nothing she could do to resurrect her.
I knew it wasn’t going to take long before the body would begin to smell and rot, so I asked her to please do something about it, which she agreed to.
She went out and came back with a large box.
She asked me to step out, which I complied.
I went to my room and found the door open. I knew who it was before I could even walk in.
Light was sitting on my bed, reluctantly going through my diary.
I quickly moved to grab it when he stood up at a quick pace and grabbed a handful of pages.
“Stop!” I exclaimed, but he ignored me and ripped them apart.
There and then, my wolf took over in anger. Light laughed loudly, surprising him as he threw the diary on the ground.
“You call yourself a Gamma, don’t you, sir?” He asked as my wolf growled low.
“Your very purpose is to protect your Alpha and serve him without question or betrayal, yet you allowed your human to harm our Luna. Because of his actions, the Alpha may never recover,” he said as I felt a sense of guilt wash over us and my wolf stepped back.
“I am not righteous in any way because I too witnessed a few times when our Luna was being bullied. I watched and did nothing because why would I? In my damn mind, I was so convinced that there was no need to protect her when our very own Alpha wanted her gone,” he said furiously.
“But never was there a day I had hurt her. Now looking back at everything, me and my wolf weren’t any different from the both of you. The little difference between us is that I didn’t glorify her murder in a stupid book like you did,” he said, then walked past us.
“Light,” my wolf pulled through for a second time and called out, making him instantly stop moving.
“Let me talk to Las,” he whispered.
He hesitated but then sighed loudly and turned and faced us. His wolf was present and unlike him, he looked beyond furious with us.
“What do you want from me Snow?” Las asked furiously.
“How would I have known that it would end up badly? I thought our Luna was capable of swimming. Moreover, I took it as a joke like we usually did,” my wolf said and then frowned deeply when Las moved in front of us and pressed his folded fist against our chest.
“What can I say, Gamma? Your joke has finally cost us our Alpha’s life. Now rejoice as your human wrote,” he said and then turned and walked out of the room.
I could feel the anger my wolf was holding in; he was very disrespectful. Sadly, there was nothing he could do about it because he knew he was right with his words.
“Paul,” he called in a low growl.
“I’m sorry,” I whispered sadly.
“Your damn sorry won’t do shit. This is the fifth time you have done something that has endangered us both. Jace may be talked out of killing us, but not Ridge. He will murder us together with the warriors,” he said.
“Sir, the Alpha is waking up,” the healer’s voice came through our mind link, and Snow found himself running to where the Alpha was.
The healer was carefully holding his hand in hers and seemed to be giving him energy.
When he groaned low, Snow tensed. He was trying his best to hold his ground for the both of us.
The door opened, and Talic walked in. It seemed our wolves were taking over because they were getting ready to face Alpha Ridge.
“Snow,” Talic greeted.
“Talic,” my wolf greeted back.
“Are you ready to die?” he asked in a low tone.
Snow looked at him sadly and then smiled.
“I am more than ready to lose my life for our sins. If we kept our humans in check, they could have never gone this far,” he answered through the mind link, making me feel worse than I already felt.
The room instantly went silent when the Alpha opened his eyes. Snow and Talic sighed together in relief when they saw how Alpha Jace was still in control.
He groaned in what sounded like pain, then slowly sat upright on the bed and touched his head with his free hand.
The healer quickly let go of his other hand and took two steps back, then went down on her knees to show respect.
“How long was I out?” he asked softly.
“About twenty-four hours,” the healer answered.
“What!” The Alpha exclaimed, then quickly stood up as Snow and Talic instantly went down on one knee to show him respect.
“She was waiting for me! How could you not wake me up in time? I don’t want to upset her or make her sad! Next time you fail to wake me up, Harvey and Paul, I will have your heads!” He screamed at the top of his voice and then rushed out of the room, leaving us all stunned.
It became clear to all of us in the room that the Alpha had gone insane. Not only was he talking about Lillian as if she were still alive, he couldn’t tell our wolves and us apart.
It was very serious, and I was even scared to ask my wolf what the way forward was because his hate towards me was getting stronger by the second.
Talic stood up, and Snow followed suit.
“Healer, tell the Delta to gather all the warriors in the training field. I want to have a word with them,” he ordered.
She quickly got to her feet, nodded, and then rushed out.
“As for you, Snow, as of today, you are not allowed to let your human be in charge until I say otherwise. That’s an order. Put him to sleep,” he commanded, shocking me.
“Snow, no!” I screamed out.
Whenever I had done something that got us into trouble, Snow took over and had his way of putting me to sleep for an hour to take care of everything. It was rare, but there was never a day he had put me to sleep for a day or so.
Putting me to sleep was when he had absolute control and pushed me into the darkness of our subconscious where I couldn’t see or hear anything that was going on around. Just that thought made me panic.
“Please, Snow, I’m begging you!” I screamed as he sighed.
The last thing I could hear were his sad words.
“I am so sorry, Paul, but you have caused too much damage.”
