Chapter 120 The Thrilling Scene

Just as the two were locked in a standoff, the phone rang sharply.
Gordon picked it up. “What?”
“Someone just drove all the trucks out of the North Port Dock!”
“What?”
Gordon and Conrad exchanged a glance.
If Silence initially wanted to teach Lillian a lesson, driving off all the refrigerated trucks now clearly wasn’t something a small production crew could pull off. There was a hand behind this, slowly pushing some sinister scheme forward. The target was obvious-Conrad.
Conrad could simply choose to stop here, wait, and then hear the bad news about Lillian. Otherwise, if he pursued, it was into the unknown danger.
Gordon was about to say, “If you won’t go, I will.”
But Conrad suddenly accelerated again, the car practically flying down the road.
Gordon stared at Conrad, noticing the bloodthirsty gleam in his eyes and the slight curve of his lips.
They were asking for trouble by touching his woman.
Conrad’s car was modified. On regular city streets, its performance barely showed, but on the mountain road leading to the dock, it reached its full potential. The car shot forward like an arrow released from a bow.
In the entire North Port area, the codes for the trucks that had just left were with the dock’s entry and exit administrator.
When Lionel got off the helicopter, his men were already asking questions. He couldn’t be bothered with small talk. He slammed a gun onto the table and stared at the man. “The car with the license plate number NXXXXX that came in at 6:45 today, which direction did it go?”
“I-I really don’t know.”
Lionel was uninterested in wasting time. He picked up the gun and pointed it directly at the man’s head. “The person in that car was Conrad’s woman. You’re covering for those people. If Conrad comes looking for you, he’ll shoot, and it’ll hurt a lot more. Do you want me to put you out of your misery?”
As soon as Lionel finished speaking, the man immediately became terrified, trembling as he pulled up the surveillance footage. “It’s them. I don’t dare cross them.”
Lionel studied the people on the video, and then contacted Gordon. Ford got the road surveillance footage.
“Mr. Conrad, Miss Lillian’s car is at the fork by the North Port Bridge and is about to cross onto the bridge!”
Gordon immediately instructed, “Turn here, head to the North Port Bridge.”
Conrad turned the steering wheel sharply, and for a moment, Gordon thought he was going to be thrown from the car.
No wonder Old Mr. Brown had taken Conrad away after he’d raced twice and banned him from driving. If this was a deadly race, someone could really end up dead.
Lillian’s consciousness was beginning to fade. She could feel the car moving again, but after her cries for help, no one had responded. She had tried to headbutt the walls, but it was useless.
The temperature was dropping, and she had lost all sensation. She could only lie on the ground, letting her body grow numb.
At this point, her tears seemed stuck, unable to flow. Her eyelashes barely lifted, as if frozen over.
She had promised Ada she would give it a bath when she returned… but it seemed she wouldn’t make it.
Melissa was still helping to take care of her grandmother, but sadly, she wouldn’t be there to see her grandmother wake up.
Her teacher would surely be disappointed, and her classmates would probably be shocked. Why had she suddenly died?
She hadn’t even received her graduation certificate yet…
Her father had always wanted to see her graduate.
And in the end… it was Conrad, wasn’t it?
He wouldn’t get to taste the steak she had brought back today. He’d probably figured out she had lied to him.
Maybe, after she died, when he remembered her, he would curse her for being a little liar.
She felt so tired…
Lillian slowly closed her eyes.
But then, a loud crash suddenly jolted her awake.
“Lillian! Hang on!”
One minute earlier…
Conrad had driven straight onto the North Port Bridge ramp, but the area had already been temporarily closed by the police due to a kidnapping situation. The area was on high alert, with warnings about criminals crossing the border.
As soon as Conrad’s car arrived, the police immediately moved the barricades to let his car through.
Meanwhile, the truck carrying Lillian realized something was wrong and tried to exit the bridge. However, the police alarms blared across the road, and snipers took position in the lookout towers, ready to act.
Of course, this was the last resort. If they confirmed Lillian was safe, they would immediately take action to neutralize the threat.
The driver, seeing the situation, began to accelerate, panicking and losing his sense of direction. At that moment, Conrad’s car sped up like a meteor and pulled up right beside him.
The driver almost lost control and slid when the luxury car appeared suddenly.
It wasn’t until Conrad pulled out a gun and shot through his windshield that the driver, desperate, started speeding up even more.
Conrad gritted his teeth and rammed his car into the back of the truck.
“Lillian! Lillian, can you hear me?!”
The helicopter arrived, and Lionel looked ahead. “The roads ahead are blocked, but we need to stop him here. If he panics and jumps into the sea, it’ll be a mess.”
The car was too heavy. If Lillian fell off, she wouldn’t make it to the police in time. Even Conrad, if he were a god, couldn’t punch through the car door to get her out.
Lionel locked onto a maintenance entrance on the bridge and spoke into his walkie-talkie. “Push them toward that maintenance entrance. There are three rows of iron fences there that can cushion the impact! Better stop him.”
Conrad’s bodyguards had arrived in their cars, but the driver was still swerving wildly, clearly in a panic.
“Dammit,” Conrad muttered as he watched the driver accelerate again, then turned to Gordon. “Gordon, your leg’s not busted, is it?”
“What do you want to do?”
“Come over here and drive. Pass him.”
Without waiting for a reply, Conrad yanked Gordon’s hand and grabbed the steering wheel. Then, he opened the car door, stretched his long arm up, and climbed onto the car roof. Gordon quickly slid into the driver’s seat, and just as he settled in, Conrad used the momentum to leap onto the roof.
The strong wind blew his clothes up as Conrad crouched low.
“Gordon, did you skip breakfast? Drive faster!” A bloodthirsty gleam flashed in Conrad’s eyes.
Gordon gritted his teeth, focusing on the back of the truck. “Hold on tight!”
“Just drive!”
Just as Gordon was about to pass the truck, Conrad leaped with force, scraping the side of the truck. He hooked his foot onto the cargo hook above, flipped, and swung open the door.
Everyone watched the thrilling scene unfold.
Lionel smirked. This was definitely something Conrad would do.
“Mr. Lionel, Mr. Conrad is this skilled?”
Lionel raised an eyebrow. “If Conrad can’t do it, no one here can. He’s at the level of a top-tier mercenary.”
His grandfather had never treated him like a regular person when training him.
The driver tried to shake Conrad off by swerving the car into an S-shape, but Conrad finally grabbed the door handle. As he yanked it open, Lillian only saw a tall, dark figure drop from above the door, agile and swift, kicking up shards of ice from the ground.
“Conrad… Conrad!!!”
“Stupid woman!” Conrad saw that her head and hands were covered in blood, and there were bloody trails on the ground. His eyelid twitched. He quickly shed his jacket to warm her up and began untying the ropes around her wrists.
“Conrad, be careful!!!” Gordon’s voice called out from outside.
The truck had completely gone off-track!
