Chapter 119 Let Her Go

Book:Let Me Go, Sugar Daddy Published:2025-2-8

Who in City N didn’t know that if you messed with Conrad, your life would be ruined?
The Brown family had kept a low profile for generations, only known as an invisible rich family.
But after Conrad’s strong return, the Brown family became very visible. Whenever Conrad’s convoy passed, everyone avoided it.
There was no way the crew dared to make Conrad wait.
Soon, someone spoke up, “I saw Dwight and Gary heading toward the parking lot. Before we left work today, I heard them whispering about something to do with Lillian.”
“Yeah, I saw that too. Also, some of the production team women were talking about teaching Lillian a lesson.”
With it being dark and voices coming from all directions, no one could tell who was speaking.
“Shut up, you’re talking nonsense…”
Suddenly, a gunshot rang out. Conrad, with a dark expression, fired into the air above the group.
“I’ll count to three.”
Before he even finished speaking, someone trembled and stepped forward.
“Mr. Conrad, we were just paid to do this. It was Silence who told us to teach Lillian a lesson. We thought we’d just lock her up and freeze her a bit, but then the driver showed up.”
“We really didn’t mean for it to go this far!”
Conrad stared at the two men as if they were already dead. He smirked and pressed the gun to their foreheads.
“Go to hell.” As soon as Conrad finished speaking, two gunshots rang out, but the bullets missed their mark and hit the men’s leg bones instead.
Conrad furrowed his brow and turned his cold gaze onto the person holding his hand.
Gordon shook his head at him. “No need for that. Saving Lillian is the priority!”
These people were just doing it for the money.
But Conrad really had fired a shot. Even though no one had been killed, it was still terrifying!
Even Silence was so scared she went pale, her legs went weak, and she collapsed to the ground.
If only she had known-if only she had known that the powerful figure behind Lillian was him! She wouldn’t have dared provoke Lillian!
Right… she couldn’t take the blame for this!
Silence immediately looked toward Evelyn, who was standing at the back of the crowd.
Before she could shout for help, she was forcibly pulled out.
“Miss Evelyn! Miss Evelyn, please help me!!!”
Evelyn froze for a moment, then, fearing Conrad would misunderstand, said, “Conrad, I don’t know what she’s talking about.”
Conrad narrowed his eyes. “Speak.”
Silence quickly broke free from the bodyguards and hurriedly explained, “Mr. Conrad, it was Evelyn’s assistant who kept saying bad things about Lillian around us.”
“That… that has nothing to do with me. Conrad, she was just afraid of getting in trouble, so she dragged me into this. I’m innocent!” Evelyn couldn’t believe that Silence, who was useless at getting things done, would dare drag her into this!
Silence, now terrified, was ready to say anything to survive. “Mr. Conrad! If she didn’t hide behind your name and bully people in the crew, I would never have listened to her!”
“Conrad… Ouch-!” Evelyn was suddenly grabbed by the collar and lifted off the ground by Conrad. In front of everyone, he slapped her hard across the face.
“It seems you didn’t remember what I told you last time.”
“I provide for you, feed you, like I would a dog. Get that straight.” Conrad finished, his gaze turning cold as he looked at Silence on the ground. “Take her to Python. I don’t think there’s any reason to keep her around with that loose tongue of hers.”
“Mr. Conrad, Mr. Conrad!”
Evelyn was both embarrassed and scared. As Conrad started to walk away, she hurried after him, but Andrew stopped her.
The force of Conrad’s slap had been so strong that she felt her left ear was ringing and couldn’t hear anything. But she couldn’t let Conrad leave like this.
“Conrad, I didn’t-”
Conrad tugged at his tie and instructed, “Make sure this bitch goes back to her place. I’ll get everything back from her sooner or later.”
He got into the car, and Gordon sat in the passenger seat. Conrad glanced at his leg, which was in cast, then started the car and sped off toward the dock.
The bodyguards quickly followed.
Once Conrad left, everyone else in the crew breathed a sigh of relief.
They hurriedly scattered and left the scene, eager to go home, fearing that the demon might return. As for whether Evelyn had a ride home, no one cared.
Evelyn covered her face and stood alone, quietly frozen in place.
She couldn’t believe Conrad had treated her like this…
Conrad had always cared so much for her. She was special to him, she got whatever she wanted. How could he say she was nothing more than a dog?
“What are you following me for?” Conrad sped up, the car cutting through the night like a black tongue racing through the dark road, with no lights on.
Gordon, accustomed to this kind of speed, didn’t feel carsick.
“Just in case you lose your temper and something happens,” Gordon said, then picked up his phone and called Lionel. “I’ve sent the location, get a search team over here. Right now!”
Gordon added, “Don’t take this road. Take the side ramp; I’ve driven this route before, it’s a shortcut.”
Conrad suddenly made a sharp turn and the car flew into the ramp.
Gordon said, “Today’s mess is your doing. If you hadn’t surrounded yourself with so many women, Lillian wouldn’t have become the target of everyone’s anger. You’re always so confident, but don’t forget, a woman’s heart is made of flesh too.”
“What are you trying to say?”
“I’m saying, if you don’t plan on having a future with Lillian, maybe you should try letting her go.”
Conrad pressed the accelerator, a smirk tugging at his lips. “And then what? You’ll take over? What I can’t give her, you can?”
Lillian represented not only the downfall of the Lewis family but also infamy. This was why, despite many acknowledging her charm, they also likened her to a poppy-too beautiful, built on wealth, yet no one dared to keep such a flower in their own home. They couldn’t risk a drop in corporate reputation, a stockholder frenzy, or a single day’s financial evaporation. They felt that it wasn’t worth taking such a big risk for a woman like Lillian.
“Gordon, can you? I’m asking you!” Conrad’s voice rose as the car kicked up dust, cutting a sharp curve in the road. “You suddenly care so much about Lillian’s feelings, hug? So where were you when her Lewis family first went bankrupt?”
“Oh, right, you were vacationing abroad with your umpteenth supermodel girlfriend, enjoying the beaches and cocktails in Hawaii. And what was Lillian doing? She was being delivered by her uncle to a bunch of greasy lowlifes. When they sold her, it was three thousand dollars per night. Gordon, were you too broke to help, or just unwilling?”
“I spent billions to clear the Lewis family’s debts. I spend hundreds of thousands to millions each month to support her. In the past three years, you could’ve paid off that debt and taken her away. Gordon, is this the first day you found out she’s been with me? What were you doing all this time?”
A deep mockery flashed in Conrad’s eyes. “Put away your white-knight act. Stay out of my business with Lillian.”
Gordon laughed in exasperation. “It’s not like I can’t pay it now. Conrad, I just want you to understand, don’t mistreat Lillian. The poor girl has had it rough enough. You’ve let Evelyn bully her, but she can’t have men being kind to her? Who do you think you are? You’ve kept Lillian by your side for three years, and it’s just for her looks and body? Since you can’t stop yourself from wanting Lillian, why can’t I fall in love with her? Is the whole world supposed to bow down to you, Conrad?”
