CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-TWO
CATHERINE’S POV
I still can’t believe that Burke would engage Hayley to do this dirty act with me, I mean how could he have treated me that way, I love him and all he ever does is hurt my feelings, I am glad I am finally done with this hell of a marriage, the only regret I have now is that it took me long enough to realize that Burke didn’t care for me.
All I can think of now is my kids. I only pray that they are not hurt. I’ve left them like that in the hands of no one and I strongly believe they are in danger.
This dungeon stinks like hell, the rat, and the smell of poop, everywhere made me sick but that didn’t break my heart as much as Burke did, I wish I had known earlier, how would he ever think that I would poison him, I have always been the one standing by his side in times of trials, I can’t believe he doesn’t even trust me, I am supposed to be his wife. Well, I care less about him now, my worry now is how to get back to my kids.
A rat passed through my legs and I didn’t know when I shouted
“Fuck, fuck what kind of life is this”, I said to myself.
“You better get used to this kind of life you know”, I heard a voice from the corner of my poison room, I turned around and it was Ava, she looked even worse than I met her, her hair was uncombed I would have mistaken her for a thief if I had meet her outside this dungeon.
“Ava what happened to you, you look… .”,
” Unkempt, yeah I know, prison life that’s how much it breaks you, truth be told I can’t even recognize myself”, she said.
” Yeah, I guess so, I’m sorry I haven’t been able to see you since Burke found out about Grandma El he warned me to stay away from you Hayley found out also, I mean the whole situation messed up and it’s this mess that has landed me here now “, I sighed.
“Calm down, take a deep breath and calm down, tell me what happened, how did you end up here”, she asked.
“I don’t even know, Burke betrayed me, he betrayed the love I have for him”, I burst out in tears, I didn’t even know when I started tearing up I mean it hurts me.
“Burke ordered you in here?”, she asked.
“Yes, it’s the handwork of his mistress Hayley, I don’t know. I think she tried to poison Burke and she blamed it on me and Burke believes her he didn’t even hear my side of the story”, I cried.
” It’s okay Catherine, all I can say is something is wrong somewhere Burke is in love with you and I know that because I have experienced him firsthand fight for you even in difficult situations what I don’t understand now is why he is on the side of Hayley, don’t you think it’s absurd?”, she asked.
” I don’t know, I don’t know what I am supposed to think right now all I want to do is to get back to my children and go back to Chicago I am tired of this shit hole of a mansion I don’t want to be the Luna I don’t want to be his wife anymore, I said.
“Well you are here with me now and guess what my darling you are going nowhere”, she said harshly.
“Where is that tone coming from?”I asked, looking surprised.
“From a place of hate, my dear sister-in-law, after I have helped you with Grandma El’s body and given you tips on how to get rid of Hayley you messed everything up and you didn’t just end there you acted like I didn’t exist, you were following Burke like a fly, you were busy worshipping him now see where he has landed you in the same dungeon with me, now we are even”, she laughed.
” Don’t you dare speak to me that way”, I yelled.
” Or what, what would you do?” she asked.
“I am nothing like you, I am not a murderer like you I do not deserve this punishment placed on me you and I both know and all you would do is sit there and mock me for my mistakes”, I asked.
“Don’t be pathetic Catherine, you made no mistakes, everything that happened was intentional and we both know who is going to believe that are innocent of the accusation levied against you when you are in the dungeon with the guilty one”, she laughed.
” My children, I can, I can”,… I sobbed. Before she finally cut me shut.
“Just shut up Catherine and enjoy your time here until they finally come for your head no one is going to believe infants over adults”, she hissed.
The dungeon doors came open and a ray of light from outside covered the room, and then I saw Hayley, the witch that put me in this condition, smiling and walking towards us.
“Oooh, I can see you both are already catching up, Ava please don’t forget to fill her in on prison life”, she laughed.
“You will pay for what you have done to me, I promise you that Hayley”, I said.
“Well, plot twist guess who is behind bars and paying for what you did not do, you, jokes on you Catherine”, she laughed.
My anger grew even more. I just wanted to hold her and beat her up, break all her teeth I am behind bars now and my hands can’t reach her, and that’s very painful.
“Well, I didn’t plan on staying long here, I just came to tell you that my darling Burke has said you would face the full wrath of the law, so get ready your head would be off your body in no time, goodbye prisoners enjoy your miserable lives”, she laughed and walked away.
All I could think of in that mom was the fact that Burke did what to kill me.
