CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-ONE
HARLEY’S POV
It was none of my intention to get Burke to eat the food meant for Catherine I wasn’t expecting everything to turn sideways but now it has and I had to make good use of the opportunity, I rushed Burke to the hospital with some of the house helps, my heart was racing all through the journey but he was successfully stabilized and I had to use this opportunity to talk to him.
“Burke baby, how are you doing?”, my hands brushing through his hair.
” What happened to me?”, he asked calmly.
” Well, I think Catherine tried to poison you, thank the goddess I was there in time I had to rush you to the hospital. Imagine what would have happened if I was not there you would have been dead meat by now”, I said.
” What, why would she ever want to do that? Does she hate me that much now?”, he asked.
” What can I say? She has always hated you, she is the villain here, not me. I’m glad you can see that now, I’m happy you are well. The doctor said you’d be out of here in a day or two”, I said.
” Thank you, thank you so much Hayley for saving my life Catherine is going to pay for what she has done. How can she try to put the alpha in this condition, imagine she tried to kill me, she doesn’t even realize I am protected by the moon goddess”, he chuckled.
I was about to say something when Catherine rushed into our ward covered in sweat and dirt, she was panting like someone who just ran a relay race and lost the race, immediately our eyes glanced at each other I gave her a disgusted look she on the other hand don’t care whether I was there or not.
“Burke, Burke darling, what… what .. what happened to you?”, she asked.
” I should be asking you, Catherine, why would you even try to hurt me, is it because of what I did, I said I was sorry, you shouldn’t have come back to me if you were in love with him, I hate you Catherine just get out”, he said with a strained voice.
” Wait what I don’t understand, the maid told me you have been rushed to the hospital for food poisoning, I came here being the supportive wife that I am and you are here throwing tantrums, what did I ever do to you Burke to deserve this kind of treatment that you lash on me every day”, she cried.
” Don’t play the victim, all this pity Patty is not going to work on me again I can see who you are, I can see the real you, you are just a wicked woman who is trying to manipulate me to do the wrong thing and when I didn’t you poisoned my food”, he said.
” Me, I just got home, I don’t understand, Burke darling it’s Catherine, not another person the mother of your triplets, I would never try to hurt you let alone wish for you to die”,
She tried to reach out for Burke’s arm but I quickly stopped it, ” he said you should leave, don’t play deaf or dumb”, I yelled.
She looked at Burke like she was looking for a sign to get me out of the room, “get out Catherine, leave me alone and just know that you are going to pay for your crimes”, he said.
A faint smile crept on my face when I heard Burke treat Catherine the way he did, I mean I didn’t intend for this to be happy but it’s in favor anyway, I’m grateful it didn’t slip out of my hands, Catherine sobbed as she left the room but we couldn’t care less, she is the villain here.
“I am here for you, okay, I’d never hurt you the way she did”, I said smiling at him, he gave me a nod of affirmation.
It’s a win for me now, I have control over Burke, he is going to marry me and now my child is going to be the next Alpha of Crescent Pack.
“Hayley”, he called out my name.
“Yes, is there any problem”, I asked.
“Please I don’t want Catherine out of the crescent pack, I am giving you permission to order the guards to take her to the dungeon where she belongs”, he said.
” Okay baby, you know your wish is my command, anything for you”,
I left him in the hospital in the care of the nurses and went back to the mansion to carry out the Alpha’s orders
“Leave my mummy alone, let her be, she wasn’t the one that hurt Daddy”, Ricky cried as the guards manhandled and took Catherine to the dungeon.
Catherine gave me a stern look when she passed me. I couldn’t help but smile at her.
“Why are you hurting my mummy, what do you want, please leave her alone”, Nikky asked me.
“Well, mummy is a sliming little bitch who tried to kill daddy and daddy is offended by mummy’s action so she would remain in the dungeon until daddy is ready to execute her, told you all I was going to get you, I have a real business to attend to”, I said pushing her away from me.
The joy embraced my heart because everything was finally getting into shape, I mean who would have thought? I drove off back to the hospital to catch up with Burke.
” Hey, Hayley right?”, the doctor who handled Burke’s treatment said.
” Yeah, I am”, I replied.
“I would like to see you in my office if that’s not too much”, he said
“Yeah sure”, I followed him back to the office. He offered me a seat and I sat down.
“So we’ve run a few tests and scans on the alpha and I’m sorry we have bad news”, he said.
My heart skipped for a bit when I heard the bad news, “Please don’t tell me he is going to die”,? I asked worried
“No, no, far from it, the incident seems to affect him and he can barely remember anything or anyone”, he said.
” But he was okay before I left, could he remember me?”
” Yeah, it comes and goes, I don’t know if it’s going to be permanent or temporary but right now the only name he has been mentioning is Catherine, you know who that might be”? He asked.
” Yeah yeah, that’s my other name that’s the name he calls me, I’m Catherine his wife”. I said
I was going to use this opportunity of his health to get Burke on my side and then boom everything would fall into place
