CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-THREE
CATHERINE’S POV
“What are you doing in my daughter’s room” I screamed immediately. I saw Hayley seated comfortably on Nikky’s bed.
“Nothing, we are just catching up and having fun together”, she replied sarcastically.
“Yes mummy it’s nothing to worry about we even ate together”, Nikky added.
“Get out of this room, before I call the guard to throw you in the dungeon”, I yelled at her.
“Take a chill pill, I’m leaving now”, she replied.
She adjusted herself for a bit before finally finding her way out.
” Mummy she is my friend you shouldn’t have sent her out like that”, Nikky cried.
“Friend?, is she the reason you didn’t come to the table for dinner?”, I asked in surprise.
” Yes, she said she wanted to eat with me so I said why not, and I know you don’t like her so we agreed on staying here rather than going to the table?”, she replied.
“Did I not warn you not to talk to her again?”, I asked.
“But mum she is my friend”, Nikky cried out.
“What do you know about friendship, running around with a child your age is what I call friendship, she is old enough to birth you but let’s scratch that I’ve told you that she is a dangerous person and not the type to mingle with but you choose to ignore me, I’m your mother Nikky you should listen to me not turn against me, I beg you I want you to avoid that witch from now on, when did you guys even be one this close like this is so weird”, I said.
“Well, she is the only one that understands me, children my age do not understand me they tend to act childish”, she replied.
” You’re a child Nikky, that’s the aim, behave like one, this is the last time I will teach you about your aunt Hayley, I forbid you from talking or playing with her”, I warned.
” Go to bed, it’s past your bedtime”, I said.
I watched as she got into her bed and tucked her in before finally giving her a good night kiss on her forehead.
Even though it felt like I had warned Nikky from talking to Hayley I still felt very uncomfortable, “Nikky and Hayley all loved up in her room, that is strange”, I said to myself.
I knew I had to find out what was going on between them, my instincts kept on telling me that Hayley did something to my daughter but I couldn’t just place my fingers around it.
I barely slept all night, my thoughts were occupied by the encounter I had with Nikky and Hayley, I only just hoped that Nikky was not in any kind of trouble.
I woke up quite early because of lack of sleep. I took a shower and headed out to the table, this time everybody was on the table.
I looked up and my eyes immediately met with that of Hayley, she was watching us, she gave me a wink but I growled at the sight of her.
The fact that she kept on monitoring and watching our movement I knew something was up, she had been acting suspicious.
This time I decided to monitor every one of her movements myself. I sneaked around the house and went wherever she went, and she didn’t even notice, however, I couldn’t find anything to implicate her. “Maybe she isn’t doing anything after all”, I said. I was on the verge of giving up when I saw Hayley suspiciously leave the house.
I was curious and wanted to find out where she was headed so I followed her. I made sure she didn’t notice that she was being followed. I walked through every corner with her, the route she took looked familiar though but I only just ignored it.
She got to a house that looked familiar, after waiting for some minutes someone came and opened the door.
“Jaxon, how the hell did Jaxon and Hayley know about each other, there is something wrong here”, I said in surprise.
Jaxon, my cunning ex-fiance with Hayley the wicked sister of mine, something fishy was cooking and I needed to figure it out.
Immediately Hayley got into the apartment. I followed suit. I reached for the doorknob but it was locked.
“Bullshit “, I cursed.
I placed my ears close to the door to hear what they were saying, and although I could barely hear them, all I could hear was Jaxon saying “The baby, the baby”, I couldn’t place my head around it. “Was Jaxon having a baby, and with who?”, I thought to myself. No one would have a child for a person like Jaxon who is self-absorbed and cunning.
My ears were still on the door when it suddenly opened. Then there was Jaxon and Hayley looking at me surprised and dumbfounded.
“What are you doing here?”, Hayley asked surprised.
“I should be asking you that question, what are you doing with Jaxon and Jaxon? What are you doing with my sister Hayley here?”, I asked rather defensively.
” Jaxon and I have unfinished business but that doesn’t mean you should monitor me. I’m going to have to report you to Burke you are becoming a pain in my ass”, she threatened.
” And you’ll have to explain what you are doing at my ex’s place when you report me though, come to think of it, what unfinished business could you have with a person like you?”, I asked.
” That’s the problem I always have with Catherine, you underestimate me, you belittle me well if you want to know Jaxon here is capable of good things, at least this is one that I know of”, he smiled cunningly as he rubbed Hayley’s baby bump.
” Wait… wait, you are responsible for Hayley’s pregnancy?”, I asked in total shock.
“What do you think, did you ever think Burke would sleep with her”, he replied.
“Jaxon, you have such a big mouth, you’re supposed to keep your mouth shut”, Hayley yelled at him.
“keeping my mouth shut was when the money was fully paid, but now there is no money”, he said, giving a wicked smile.
As they continued to banter words with each other I just stood there in shock, I couldn’t believe my eyes.
“It’s all beginning to make… … I stuttered. Immediately I felt a heavy object on my head and everything immediately went dark.
