CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND FIFTY-TAO
CATHERINE’S POV
Burke has refused to talk to me ever since he figured out I stole Grandma El’s body, to make matters worse he got angry with me when I told him that someone had stolen the body from where I kept it and I seriously hate fighting with him, it makes me helpless for the past weeks we have had nothing but the continuous argument and I do not like it, he has refused to sleep in the same room with me he would rather stay in the guest room. I feel like my presence disgusts him. It’s not his fault though I acted out of control but he should have at least understood that I lost my child because of Hayley.
He walked in to pick up a few of his stuff and completely ignored me but I was tired of the silent treatment.
“Burke, Burke you can’t keep ignoring me, you know I did it for both of us, I shouldn’t be the one suffering, I did it for us, I’m only just protecting our family, she’s the intruder, not me”, I said.
“Really cat, you’re still blaming everyone but yourself, you can imagine now where the body is, do you know the gravity of the offense you’ve committed, It’s not something the pack will let go easily, you’ve put me in a mess and you’re blaming Hayley, grow up cat just fucking growing up”, he yelled at me.
“Stop yelling at me, I lost a child, you were not going to do anything about it, she hurt my family. All I did was try to frame her up”, I cried out.
“cat we lost a child, not just you both of us it hurts me as much as it hurts you but there are rules to these things we don’t just go about breaking the laws all in the name of revenge, I was finding a solution to this Hayley problem but guess what you e made matters worse”, he yelled.
” I know, I know I’m going to fix it, can you please just move back in, I can’t watch you sleep in another room. I want you close to me Burke, I miss you, I miss us, when did we even get here”, I begged.
” I can’t cat, I need to figure a way out around this thing and the only way to figure it out is being as far away from you as possible, you’re distracting me, when I’m around you I can’t think properly, I don’t even know the judgment to pass when the pack eventually find out you stole the body you know, to think that Ava a well-known criminal was an accomplice nobody is going to listen if I even advocate for a milder punishment you’ve put me in a very difficult situation cat, and you know I can’t stand losing you, I’m sorry but I can’t stay here I need to put my mental health in order”, he said with a sad tone.
“Burke I’m sorry, just stay here we will figure it out together baby, please baby”, I begged.
Burke ignored me, he sure didn’t care how I felt, I didn’t know how I got into this mess, it was just a quest for revenge. “Fuct Catherine, what have you done?”, I said to myself.
I stayed indoors all morning crying and thinking of what to do. My head hurt badly but I couldn’t stop crying, I just wished things had turned out differently.
It was time for dinner and I managed to bring myself downstairs, my eyes were red due to the continuous crying, and Burke was already seated at the table, he immediately turned away from me when he saw me, and I decided to return the same energy he was only just acting up, all I tried to do was help, I didn’t know it would turn sour.
I reached for my seat and served myself the food, I was about to eat when I noticed Nikky wasn’t at the table.
“Boys, where is your sister?” I asked.
“I don’t know”, Ricky replied with his mouth full.
“She has been acting a little bit weird these days. I told her to come down to eat but told her handmaiden to bring her food upstairs and that she would rather eat in her room, it’s no big deal though”, Dicky said.
“Hmmm, okay, I’ll go check up on her after dinner”, I said.
It’s really strange not having Nikky on the table as she is one who always wants to be close to family and be involved in every family activity so it felt really weird, I didn’t think much of it though maybe she is just in her feelings, because I was in mine too and I would rather stay up and eat than come down but I didn’t want to children to suspect anything was going on between us, so I had to put up a show for them.
Dinner took longer than usual, there was awkward silence all through dinner, and it made the food tasteless in my mouth.
Burke was the first person to finish eating “Okay guys I’m going to rest”, he said to the boys without even glancing at me. After a few minutes Dicky was done and Ricky I was the last person to leave the table. I had managed to eat the food on my plate so it took longer to finish.
“Anybody there?”, I called out for a maid when I was done
“Yes my lady”?, she replied.
“Clear this place up, I’m done eating”. I said
I left the table quickly. My mind was fixed on checking up on Nikky and why she refused to sit at the table. When I finally got to her room I reached for the door and it was locked. Another strange thing is that Nicky never leaves her room door locked. I don’t think much of it though.
“Nicky, Mummy is here please can you open the door for me”, I said.
Continuous strange sounds were coming from her room. I could only wonder what she was doing. It took time before she finally came out of the room to open the door and lo and behold there was Hayley seated on Nicky’s bed giving me a wicked smile.
“What the hell?”, I screamed angrily.
