CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND FIFTY-FOUR
CATHERINE’S POV
I strained my eyes to get a clear vision of where I was but all I could see was darkness,
“You’re awake”, a voice came from the corner of the room and then there was water rushing down my body, it was as if I had fallen into a pond of water.
This time my eyes were very much open and I could see Hayley standing right in front of me.
I looked around to find something familiar but the whole room was strange and dirty, I could hear the squeak of rats, it was like a room made for pigs. Then I saw a painting on the wall and immediately my mind went back to when I was held hostage by Ava and Hayley here some months back.
“Get me out of here you evil fellow”, I said struggling to get the rope tied on my back off, but it was still holding my hands firmly.
“Calm down Catherine, the drama has just begun, you know I might have another surprise for you”, she said with a smirk on her face.
What more surprises could she have for me, the fact that she got pregnant for Jaxon and pinned it on Burke was more than enough surprises.
“Come out”, she said.
My eyes widened when I saw Nikky come, I was in total shock.
“Nick, Nikky… “What are you doing here?”, I stammered in surprise.
” What have you done to my child? Nikky just hung in there for mummy, I’m coming,” I said. Even though deep down I had no idea what to do to help myself not to talk of Nikky, I felt helpless.
“I am going to have your daughter treat you like the scapegoat that you are”, Hayley laughed. I’m a wicked-mannered man.
“Hayley please just let us go I promise no one will hear of what happened, I’ll die with your secret and in fact, if the child is eventually a male I’ll convince Burke to name him the next Alpha please just spare my life and the life of my child”, I begged.
“the only thing that made sense to me was the fact that you said my child is going to be the alpha however male or female it doesn’t matter I am going to get rid of you and your generations so that your offspring won’t content my child’s throne with him, so that means you are not going anywhere my darling. It is me and Burke against the world when I finally get rid of you”, she laughed.
” Now I want you to hit her”, she said, facing Nikky.
” Nicky, Nikky no no no,…., please don’t forget I am your mother”, I begged.
The slap came right on my face, I didn’t know what hurt more the fact that I was slapped or it was my daughter that slapped me, whichever hurt.
I remained in the room for days without food and barely a little water. I watched as my child was turned into a slave right before me and I couldn’t do anything to help.
I had spent about a week or more when suddenly Hayley came to my room where she put me, she came dragging Nikky by the ears.
“Leave her alone, stop hurting my child”, I yelled when I heard Nikky sobbing.
“And if I don’t, what will you do? , you and your child are at my mercy now the earlier you get that they begged for you old hag”, she cussed.
” I am heading out and I do not want you interacting with this woman all you are expected to do is to drop her drinking water and leave the room and if you do anything contrary to what I have told you, I’ll have to punish you severely “, she said threatening Nikky.
“Yes my lady”, Nikky replied.
We watched as Hayley left the apartment and when she was out of sight I quickly called “Nikky, Nikky I know you are in there but talk to momma, I am so sorry for letting you down, I promise this won’t happen again, I’ll find a way of getting you out of here but please talk to me”, I cried. But she blatantly ignored me
It’s been two days since Harley left Nikky and me in this hell of a room and it has been the worst days of my life because Nikky has refused to talk to me and I haven’t eaten any tangible food since then.
Nikky walked into the room looking tired and messy, I wanted to hold her hands but she pulled back, “Nikky baby I hope you’re alright, you know you can talk to mummy”, I said with tears in my eyes.
“Here is your food”, she replied, ignoring my question.
“please baby you know you’d have to talk to me in the long run, it’s just us here I just want to know if my baby is still there”, I said but there was no reply.
At this point I was already losing hope and strength, I couldn’t eat the food given to me because it tasted like whack I drank water most of the time.
I lay helplessly on the ground, my hand-tied to the pillar as usual.
My eyes twitched, I could barely see anything however I saw when Nikky walked into the room with another plate of food.
“Here, dinner”, I heard her say.
Ooooh… okay”, I struggled to reply.
” Are you alright?”, she said in a worried tone ..
” My … my child, do you still know me?”, I asked.
“Yes mummy, why would I ever forget you, Hayley tried to cast a spell on me by giving me some potion but she forgot that I am a powerful witch and that I can break the spell, I didn’t want her to feel stupid after all her efforts so I had to act like the spell worked and also it helped me find where you where when everyone was worried about you at home, I was only trying to find a perfect plan to get you out of here that is why I played along even after she had left but now we need to leave, I can’t risk your life for Hayley’s game”, she said raising me.
I couldn’t feel the rest of my body. All I knew was that I found myself outside that room. How was she able to put up that drama?
