CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND THIRTY-THREE
BURKE’S POV
I quickly dressed up, anticipating Nikky’s surprise, she gave me the motivation to go to my wedding.
I wore an Italian suit and slipped my black hair backward, which complimented my suit.
I wore a black shoe and checked myself in the mirror, and I was looking good.
“Time to go for a wedding, when my mate bond is still strongly bonded with my ex-wife,” I said to myself, exhausted of everything, it wasn’t easy for me to bring myself to marry Harley when Catharine doesn’t want to let me, I always feel it’s because she hates the idea of me getting married to another woman, especially when it’s Harley.
“Catherine please forgive,” I said to myself, as I opened my door, to go to the wedding which was being held in the garden.
“Hi,” Harley said, as I opened the door, my eyes widened in shock, what the fuck is she doing at my door on our wedding day, does she have a change of mine? She should know that I need to save Emma.
“Hi, What are you doing here? You aren’t even dressed,” I said, letting her into my room.
“I know that, I just wanted to be sure you don’t have a change of mind,” she said, gulping hard.
“Is this because you and her had a fight? You think my sister would make me change my mind,” I scoffed as she sat on the empty chair, the exact place Ava sat when she came to my room.
“Not really,” she replied to my question and I gave her a stern look for lying to me.
“Okay you are right, I mean you do whatever she wants and asks, so do you expect me not to think you would let me go if your sister asked,” she said the truth, shrugging her shoulders.
“I know I’m right, but I am the one who choiced to make you my wife, it’s not her decision to let you go, I picked you, Harley,” I assured her and she smiled at me.
“But you didn’t pick me because you love me,” she stated, and it sounded more like a question.
“No, I didn’t,” I replied honestly, I never want to lie to her.
“That hurts,” she confessed, looking at the ground.
“I’m sorry, I thought you knew this,” I said and she nodded her head, that she knew it.
“It’s more painful hearing it from your lips, is there even a chance you would love me as time goes on?” she asked, and I swallowed hard before shaking my head.
“No, there isn’t Harley, look, my heart belongs to Catherine forever, I’m getting married to you to save Emma’s life,” I said, plainly, although I tried to make it not sound hurtful but It was supposed to sound hurtful.
“Then what is this marriage going to be like?” she asked, with hurt in her eyes.
“I may not love you Harley and I would never love you, but I would protect you, respect you, both your personality and your wishes, you are going to me my Luan, we would make decisions together,” I assured her and she nodded her head again.
“What about kids, are we going to make babies,” she asked, slipping the robe she had on to the ground, making her naked.
“Harley, today is our wedding day, we can’t do this,” I said, but she didn’t hear me, she sat on my legs and was trying to kiss me.
“Wait! This is a bad omen, we aren’t even supposed to see before the wedding,” I said and she looked at me hurtfully.
“You don’t love me, and you won’t even kiss me,” she said, and the hurt in her eyes and it also filled her voice.
“I…i…,”
“Just kiss me Burke, you said you would protect me when you are the one hurting me, please, Burke, kiss me,” she said, interrupting me from stuttering, I then inhaled deeply.
I took her lips closer to mine and kissed her gently, She deepened the kiss and I flowed with it, and played with her tongue.
She took my hands and placed it on her teats, wanting me to press onto it and I did as she wanted.
“Harley, you need to get ready for the wedding,” I said, withdrawing from the kiss, she rolled her eyes at me, looking disappointed.
“Our wedding,” she corrected, getting off my lap and wearing her bathroom robe.
“Yep, although I have a feeling something bad would happen today,” I said, remembering Catherins death.
“Why? Do you have cold feets or something,” She asked looking worried, making me scoff.
“It’s not you, neither is it me, Harley Harley, its nature, we aren’t supposed to see before our wedding,” I repeated myself and Harley rolled her eyes at me.
“Those are mints, Burke, I know you have PTSD about this stuff because of what happened to Catherine, but I assure you, nothing bad is going to happen,” she assured and I gave her a nod, still not convinced that all would be well, I could feel it.
“I’ll go and get dressed,” she said, as she walked away from my room.
Soon I was at the garden, facing Harley in her wedding dress that was overly decorated. I didn’t like the wedding dress design but I couldn’t say it.
Diago was at the corner, with a sack covered in his head, and his hands tied to his bag, his head was placed in a golden platter, because that’s how I wanted it to be served, once we are pronounced husband and wife, his head would go off his neck.
My wedding was filled with joy for my wife and me, and also whispers of crying could be heard because of Diago.
“I, Burke Michealson, take you, Harley Mccarthy as my lawfully wedded wife, to hold and withhold, in sickness and in health, till death do us part,” I repeated after the oldest man on the pack, who hosted all the wedding.
“And I, Harley Mccharty, take you, Burke Michealson, as my lawfully wedded husband, to hold and withhold, in sickness and in health, till death do us part,” Harley repeated at the priest, holding the ring to our faces.
We can’t slip it into our fingers without the consent of the people present at the wedding, although I feel everyone is in support.
“If there is anyone who is against this wedding here, speak up or forever remain silent,” the eldest man yelled, still taking a glimpse of his son, Diago on the floor, it would soon be time for him to be killed.
“Im against this union,” I heard Nikky’s voice say, and turned around immediately.
“Nikky, what are you doing?” I whispered and she shrugged her shoulders.
“I said I have a wedding gift for you and here it is,” she said, pointing at the woman beside her who has a face covered.
Before I could speak up again, the woman revealed her face and my mouth fell open, the whispers in my wedding were increased.
“Catherine,” I whispered, in the form of a question.
