CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND THIRTY-ONE
CATHERINE’S POV
Nikky has been making preparations for the wedding day, tomorrow is going to be good.
I was mixing some herbs when I heard El coughing again. She didn’t die, because we were there in time for Nikky to save her, she was at death’s doorstep but she didn’t know how to enter.
“How are you feeling now, El?” I asked and she scoffed, like she didn’t care about what I was saying and she glared at me.
“If something is wrong, El, you have to speak up, so we can do something about it,” I yelled and she scoffed again, looking angry this time.
I didn’t know what made me angry, the fact that she had refused to speak with me or the fact that she was still reluctant about us killing Harley.
“She tried to kill him El and like it or not, Harley would be thrown to the dungeon, be happy you would be alive to watch me take revenge,” I sneered at her and she looked at me with sad eyes.
“I don’t mind it if Harley is going to the dungeon for her crimes but I would wish to be dead to see you kill your sister, my granddaughter,” she said, weakly, with tears at the base of her eyes, I tried ignoring her tears, but I’m too emotional to do that.
“Can you stop crying? It’s not like you all loved me anyway,” I busted out angrily, I didn’t have any memory of them, the only memory I had us of my foster parents.
“We wiped your memory so your foster parents could train you, without you thinking of your past life,” She said, and I widened my eyes in surprise, so they wanted to erase the memory I had of them, and they fucking succeded.
“And did you wipe Harley’s memory too, because I mean, she acts like she doesn’t know me,” I scoffed, trying not to sound pained, although, I had the feeling that El could sense the pain in my voice and she tried to sound very apologetic.
“We wiped a little of her memory, so she would be able to pick up some crumbs when she sees you, that’s why you two have the same mark on your right arm,” She explained, and I swallowed hard, to prevent my later outburst.
“Why did you choose to throw me out and not Harley, I hate the fact that I almost forgave you and my dead parents, for throwing me out, I was still a child, El,” I yelled, and she fell speechless for a while, probably she didn’t know what to say.
“We were freaking poor Catherine, and you were very sick. Your foster mother was a good medicine woman, but she didn’t want to treat you without money, so that’s what she said if she treats you. We would not bring you back to us and….” she burst into sobs and couldn’t finish her statement.
“And you sold me out, you and my parents used me as bargaining chips, and my foster mother was fucking evil to do that, but she didn’t put a gun to your head to do it,” I yelled and El swallowed hard, I forgot for a minute that she was sick.
“I didn’t sell you our Catherine, we have no choice, a gun was to our head,” She said, not meaning it literally. There was pain in her eyes, she felt bad for throwing me away years ago, but her feeling bad wouldn’t heal my pain.
“Everyone always has a choice, if a gun is pointed at your head, you turn the other fucking direction, El,” I snapped at her and she gulped hard again, she didn’t know how to convince me that she was sorry, and I know how sorry she is but it isn’t enough.
“You have to understand, Catherine, it is not what you think,” She said, still trying to figure out a reasonable explanation that I wasn’t interested in.
“You can be sorry all you want, I don’t care. Something else has been bothering me, how did you know I was your granddaughter?” I asked and she inhaled deeply before responding.
“The mark in your right arm, made me figure you were my granddaughter and the person I have been helping Harley to fight, ” she said and I know she regretted her actions, both past and present.
“Why can Harley not recognize you?” I asked and she shrugged.
“My daughter who is your memory wiped Harley’s memory of me, because of the dark magic and spells I performed, but now I’m a changed person,” she said and I nodded my head because I knew she was right.
“I and sorry about your past El, but Harley is going to die,” I stated and before El could object to my statement Nikky bounced into the room and cut her off saying;
“Harley is going to die and you have to start seeing the world without her,”
After Nikmy finished talking, she dropped a letter on the table and gestured for me to read it.
“What is inside here?” I asked, impatiently, ripping the latter open.
“This is a letter, that says, Harley is Ava’s accomplice, I had her sign it,” Nikjy bluffed and I was fucking impressed.
“That is awesome baby, how did you manage to do that?” I asked, and she just shrugged her shoulders as usual, she did that a lot.
“You cannot use that, it would implicate Harley, and cannot watch my granddaughters fight each other, like how I and my daughter fought, every day when I wake up, I wish I did things differently, don’t make that mistake, Catherine,” El pleaded and I rolled my eyes at her, I didn’t want to kill her before but what Harley did to El, makes me want to rip her apart.
“I will use it, it’s solid evidence that would put Harley behind bars, so, I’m going to fucking do it,” I groaned at her, and she gave me that sad eyes again, but it didn’t move me emotionally, not at a time like this.
“Please Catherine, I am certain Harley would be very apologetic when she finds out that you are her sister, don’t do something you would regret,” she said and I scoffed.
Hearing El lamenting about Harley pisses me off, but I try not to show it because El is still hospitalized.
“If killing Harley is something I will regret, then so be it, Nikky get ready for tomorrow, we are going to ruin a wedding,” I said and stormed out of the room.
