CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND THIRTY
BURKE’S POV
My wedding is in three days and I’m at the quarantine house to tell Emma about it. Soon Emma will be free from the wolf’s syndrome. I know she would be very angry that I married Harley and not someone else.
I stood outside her quarantine room, staring at her weak wolf through the window that was opened a little to enable me to see through it.
“You will be whole again, very soon,” I assured her, staring at her wolf, she groaned loudly, still laying on the floor, looking lifeless.
“I’m marrying Harley for a reason, don’t get angry at me for betraying Jack, I didn’t even want to get married before, seeing you like this, made my heart break and I knew I owe my friend, big time,” I continued talking even if I knew she didn’t understand me.
“This is not a way of paying Jack off, I promise I still owe him, please try and stay in there for me and the kids,” I said, and she groaned at me again, like I was disturbing her and it made me chuckle.
“I’m sorry for disturbing you but I feel you should know this, I’m getting married in three days time, but I still feel the mate bond with Catherine,” I dropped the bombshell that has been heavy in my heart.
“It feels like I’m cheating on Catherine but I’m not, the bond with her grows stronger every damn day, like she us getting closer to me, until I remind myself that she is dead, with our ancestors,” I lamented, almost at the brick of tears, the thought of not seeing Catherine again because she is dead makes my heart ache, badly.
“But she is gone, she left me alone in the pack,” I continued talking and I felt Emma was listening to my heartbreaking story without groaning loudly in exhaustion.
I smiled at myself, because I was making a real conversation with Emma.
“Alpha Burke, someone is here to see you,” The keeper of the quarantine room said, disturbing my conversation with Emma, she groaned loudly in annoyance, making the keeper flinch.
“Do not be scared, she would hurt you, she just offended you disturbed our conversation,” I assured him and his mind came to a rest.
“Someone is here to see you and she said it important
,” he said, keeping his eyes on Emma, in case she tried to run away from her room, which was thoroughly locked and covered with barbed wire.
“I am having an alone time with Emma and I don’t want to see anyone, except it’s Catherine,” I said, and he wore a frown, I knew Catherine was dead.
“She insisted on seeing you, after I told her you don’t wish to be disturbed,” He said, and I shook my head at him.
“Keep on telling her that I don’t want to be disturbed, because I don’t want to be disturbed,” I said, in a threatening tone, making what I said sound like a threat, making the keeper gulp hard, in fear.
“You don’t even want to know who she is?” he asked, and I shook my head.
“Why? Alpha Burke, she is…”
“I do not give a damn who she is, just do as you are told, tell her to get the fuck out, that I’m having a quiet time with Emma,” I yelled and he bowed to me, as he left to honour my request, because he knows he wont be able to convince me, so he gave it a rest.
After some minutes of quietness, I decided to continue my conversation with Emma, but I didn’t know if she was still interested.
“Like I was saying…”
“You aren’t saying a damn thing Burke, why did you tell the keeper you to lock me out of the quarantine house,” Ava yelled, cutting me shut, as she came towards me angrily.
“I am sorry Alpha Burle, I tried to explain to her but she wouldn’t listen,” The keeper apologized, rushing into the scene.
“It’s okay Keeper, leave us alone,” I commanded and he left immediately.
“Ava, you don’t…” I was interrupted again, but not my Ava this time, rather it was the groaning of Emma, who looked angry and aggressive as she saw Ava, it was like Ava did something bad to us.
“That thing is aggressive, Burke, we need to talk outside,” She said in fear, as she ran out.
“We sure need to talk,” I said after her, still surprised about Emma’s outburst.
I met Ava standing in front of my car, looking angry, and she is here to tell me who or what made her angry.
“In hope, whatever you are going to say is worth listening to, because you just disturbed my conversation with Emma,” I said as I got to where Ava stood and I stood in front of her.
“That’s Emma?” she asked, with guilt written all over her face, like she knew why Emma was very angry about seeing her. I wanted to ask her further questions but I just nodded my head and waited for her to talk.
“Why did you come here?” I asked, after minutes of looking at Ava’s guilty face, although if she was with another person they wouldn’t have known she was guilty, but I’m her brother, I know these few things, when I decided to pay attention.
“You can’t marry Harley, call off the wedding, she isn’t the right woman for you,” she said, and I burst into laughter, because I assumed this was some sort of joke, because Ava has been pushing Harley to me
Since I divorced Sereca.
“It’s not a joke, Burke, I am damn serious, she is not the right woman,” she repeated herself making me
laugh harder, when I was done laughing, I then decided to talk.
“Why would you suggest that?” I asked, and she did not know what to say at the beginning.
“I can’t say the reason, but we just had a fight and I assure you, she promised to make my life hell when she becomes Luna,” she explained and I shrugged my shoulders at her.
“Then so be it,” I said, restlessly, like I didn’t care about Ava welfare, she looked at me surprised because I have never turned her down.
“What did you just say to me, I’m your freaking sister, dude,” she yelled, looking offended by my statement.
“I don’t give two shits about that, but let’s make one thing clear, in three days time I’m getting married to Harley, so better fix the shit you have with her,” I said and Ava’s mouth dropped open.
“What did you do to Emma?” I asked, before she recovered from the shock of me turning her down.
“No…I…I didn’t do anything to her, I swear,” she said, and I knew she was lying.
My sister is hiding something, could it be that Diago was right about my sister?
