CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN
CATHERINE’S POV
I opened my eyes and there was a bandage around my stomach.
Nikky and El were walking aimlessly around the room, probably waiting to see if I’d wake up.
“I need a hot coffee, please,” I yelled, and they all turned in my direction, startled.
“Mummy, you are alive,” Nikky yelled, as she jumped on me, neglecting the bandage I have around my stomach.
“Ouch, that hurts Nikky,” I said, grimacing in pain.
“And it would have hurt a lot worse because I was ready to consecrate your body if you had died,” El retorted, angry about the fact that I tried to kill myself.
“But I’m awake now and … ”
” And what, you were bedridden for a full day, and all you can say is you are awake; you got us scared, Mum, and it wasn’t funny,” Nikky retorted as she withdrew from the tight hug she almost choked me with.
“Why did you do that, Catherine?” El questioned and I smiled at her.
“It is Because it helped me remember when Nikky, Ricky, and Dikky were born, it helped me remember what Burke did that made me flee from my pack for seven years, and had his children with his knowledge, it also…”
“Mum, you have gotten your memory back,” Nikky yelled, cutting me shut as tears of joy welled up in her eyes, she smiled at me genuinely.
“Fuck yes, why would I put my life at risk if it wasn’t going to get my memory back?” I questioned, excitedly.
“Is that…”
“The spell of the elders, it says if I get to kill myself in this life, and a witch can bring me back to life; I’ll get my memory back,” I said, cutting El shut. She frowned at me for interrupting her and I rolled my eyes at her.
“That was very risk, what if I wasn’t able to bring you back, you stabbed yourself six fucking times,” Nikky yelled, with fear in her eyes.
“I had faith in you that you would bring me back, Nikky; I knew you would do all it takes,” I said, dragging her closer into a hug.
“Do you also know that you aren’t going to be able to fall unconscious again because you are going to die and there won’t be anything the witches can do because you have already crossed the line of the dead two gucking times, the dead would take you with them if you cross the third time,” El said, walking towards the bed, and sitting on it.
“Who says I’ll have to be unconscious again? I am back to fight Ava and Harley, I’m not back to die,” I assured El and Nikky.
“Mum, there’s something I have to tell you but promise me it won’t break you down,” Nikky said, using her little hands to cover mine.
“What is it, and by the way, where the fuck is Susan? Does she know I didn’t die when the house burnt down?” I asked, patting her little fingers.
“I don’t know what she thinks because I don’t know how the dead think,” She blurted out and my heart stopped beating for a while.
Nikky just told me that Susan is dead, and she died because of the fucking quarrel I had with Ava and Harley; they put Susan in the middle of it all.
“How do you know that?” I asked, swallowing back the tears at the pit of my throat.
“I saw her burnt body when I helped your detective save you, I scraped the mark in your left arm on hers so that you would think you were the one that died,” Nikky said.
“Why didn’t you save her? If there was time to save me without a scratch, then there was time to save Susan as well,” I yelled, unable to hold back the tears any longer.
“She was at the bathroom door and it was locked from the inside, I tried getting access to it but I couldn’t, so when I took you out and went back to get Susan she had already died, so I made it look like you were Susan, took you out of the scene and rushed back to the mansion,” She explained, with tears in her eyes as well, Nikky loved Susan very much, and I don’t know why.
“How did you know it was Ava and Harley that set the house on fire and locked us inside?” I questioned and Nikky wiped the tears from her eyes.
“After I and the vision of you in a burning house, I ran to our house to save you, only to see Ava, Harley, and Jaxon, drinking and smoking, enjoying how your house burnt and listening to Susan scream for help,” Nikky replied to my question, with anger in her eyes, her blood was boiling for revenge and I could feel it.
“What about my detective, who brought me here when you ran to the mansion?” I asked because I hadn’t seen him before, although I thought there was no use in asking.
“He went snooping around, to know what Ava and Harley’s next move was, and suddenly I didn’t hear from him, I went back to see what had happened, only to see his dead body on the floor, he was stabbed twenty-four times and his heart was ripped off his chest, I think he got caught,” She said, swallowing hard.
“When he got caught, they killed him; those girls are fuckers,” I spat out angrily as I saw the pain in Nikky’s eyes; they allowed Nikky to see a dead body and pushed her into the ends of the earth so she could save her mother.
“They might be fuckers, Mum, but they are smart; now that you are awake, we need that get the hell out of here,” Nikky said, getting off the bed and arranging our clothes.
“Why are we packing, Nikky? We just got here,” El yelled, standing from the bed.
“I heard Ava and Harley talking last night. They found our location, and we must make a run; I have another…”
“No, Nikky,” I said, cutting her shut in anger.
“No, what?” Nikky asked, confused.
“No, we aren’t moving, we aren’t running,” I stated, with determination and anger running through my blood.
“You don’t know what I have done to get us here, and I can’t allow them to find you,” She yelled, trying to pack more of my clothes.
“I have gotten my memory back, Nikky, no need to run again, instead, it’s time to kick some ass,” I said, and the only thing I could see was revenge.
