CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED AND FOUR
BURKE’S POV
“The board meeting is over; I did as instructed; what is the problem again, Diago?” I asked, with my voice filled with anger.
I stepped faster, as Diago would not be able to catch up with me, but he did anyway.
“Harley is going to be Luna, aren’t you seeing something fishy in there?” Diago questioned as he caught up with me.
Diago hadn’t been himself since I announced my wedding with Harley, I don’t know why he is angry and I don’t give a shit about why he is angry.
“There’s nothing fishy, she might be from the pack I hate, but she is the best candidate when we are looking for who to get married to me and make a good fucking Luna,” I said coolly, trying to wave off the conversation with Diago, but he wasn’t ready to let it go.
“There is; your kid had Tafana in her system, meaning Nikky was poisoned. Have you asked yourself who poisoned her?” He asked, holding my arm to stop walking, and I stopped.
I have been racking my head, trying to put together why someone would want Nikky dead, and all fingers point to Ava. I know she isn’t the one; Ava might not be on good terms with Nikky, but she isn’t capable of murder.
“I have been trying to rack my head, know who did it, but I can’t,” I said sternly, with my eyes filled with anger.
“Do you know why?” He asked, removing his hand from my arm.
“No, and I don’t think you know why either,” I groaned at me, going inside the hospital.
“I know, not because you know the person doing it but you don’t think she’s the murderer,” He said, fuming with anger.
I shot him a deadly stare, before aggressively pushing him to the wall and grabbing his neck, which I’ll snap anytime if I get angry at the moment.
“If you dare insinuate that Ava did… ”
“How did you know I was talking about Ava?” He asked, choking.
Immediately I let go of his neck and pushed him to the ground angrily.
“Connect the dots, Alpha Burke, the killer is a part of your family,” he yelled, and my reflex acted fast, and I punched him in the face.
“Don’t ever think that any member of my family is capable of Murder, especially Ava; she is even afraid of blood,” I yelled, giving him another punch in his left cheek, and he didn’t fight back.
“Put some respect in the name ‘Michaelson; if you try to accuse any member of my family, you will be taken to the dungeon,” I threatened as I got off him.
“Burke…”
“Address me as Alpha Burke, now get the fuck out of this hospital,” I yelled, cutting him shut.
“You don’t know… ”
“I just gave you an order, not a request; get the fuck out of here, Diago, don’t test my patience,” I warned, and Diago stood up from the ground.
“I’ll go, but don’t come running to me when things blow out in your fucking face,” He said, spitting out blood.
“Fucking asshole,” I cursed under my breath, before entering into the health center.
I hated the smell of drugs, but my daughter’s life was more important.
“Good day, Alpha Burke. Did you come to thank us for saving your daughter’s life,” I heard Celine, the pack’s doctor, from behind me.
“No, I’m here to get Nikky; you said she would get discharged by noon,” I said, turning around to face her.
“She isn’t here, Burke; she has been discharged; I thought you could take her because when I checked her room, it was empty,” She explained, looking surprised.
“Are you telling me that people can leave this hospital without it being recorded,” I thundered at her as I began to panic immediately; I didn’t know what to do.
“You need to be calm Burke, we have records but I felt you were too concerned about your daughter that you forgot to write it down, and the other staff was too busy to take note of anything,” She said, rudely, trying to walk away from me, but I held her back.
“Pray to your stars that I see my daughter if I don’t see her…”
“You will have my head on a gold platter; I know those lines, Burke, but I can assure the guy that she’d be at home. Go home and find out,” She said, freeing herself from my tight grip.
“Get your shit together and go home, Nikky’s at home,” She whispered before walking away.
I rushed out of the hospital and hurriedly entered my car.
“If I don’t see Nikky, you are going to be in big trouble, Celine,” I said to myself, as I drove at maximum speed, not caring about who was on the road.
Within ten minutes, I was at my mansion, I got out of the car immediately and hurried inside the Mansion.
“Where the fuck is Nikky?” I asked Ava, as I entered the living room.
“Is nice to see you too, Burke; I don’t know where she is,” Ava said, shrugging her shoulders.
I rolled my eyes at her and was about to leave the living room when I remembered Diago’s words and how he blamed my sister for the murder.
“Regardless of the fact I put you in high esteem doesn’t mean It wouldn’t throw you in the dungeon if you fuck up, don’t do anything stupid,” I warned before leaving, I gave her a portion of food for thought so that when Harley tries to play with her intelligence, she won’t fall for it.
I could hear her questioning me but I turned a deaf ear to her question, not because I didn’t want to answer I didn’t have the answers
“Check up on Nikky, now,” I said to one of my guards, as I opened the door of my room.
“Okay, Alpha Burke,” He said, as he left to perform my orders.
“Fuck me, Alpha Burke,” I heard an unfamiliar voice.
I turned around, startled, only to see Diago’s younger sister naked on my bed.
“What game is Diago playing,” I asked, myself.
