CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND THREE
CATHERINE’S POV.
“Fuck it’s Harley, what do we do?” El asked although she was talking to no one in particular.
Nikky eyes were filled with fear and anger, and if care wasn’t, she might do something crazy.
“I know you are in there, El. Just open the door, and we will talk, Iike, adult,” Harley said again, knocking at the door, and her knock grew louder every second.
Harley’s voice sounded very familiar; she might be the right person I needed to trigger my memory; I didn’t know why they all smelt danger.
“I think we should open the fucking door and see who’s at the other side,’ I said, walking towards the door with a steady pace.
“Get your ass back in here child, don’t do something stupid,” El whispered harshly, as she grabbed my arm and pushed me to the bed.
They looked frightened of her, and for the first time since I started staying here, I saw defeat in Nikky’s eyes.
“Break the door,” Harley said, and we started hearing someone manipulating the locks.
“We are fucked,” I said, and I was shocked because she never used a swear word.
“Stop it, Harley, I’ll open the door,” El yelled, walking towards the door.
“What, are you going to just rat us out? Harley could kill her in the spot,” Nikky whispered, pointing in my direction. Nikky wasn’t even afraid of her life; she feared for my life, making me wonder if I was her mother, who she was my mother.
“I would be fine, Nikky, I’m not a baby but your mother,” I groaned at her, and she rolled her eyes at me, I was about to scold her again when she cut me shut saying;
“This is not about your ego, Mum. You can’t remember Harley, but I assure you she is the devil’s incarnate, although she is a tiny bit of Ava,” Nikky whispered, and I swallowed hard.
I wondered how I got myself in this whole mess but was clueless about the answer because I can’t recall anything about myself apart from my life with Jaxon, although Nikky and El are pointing him to be an accomplice to the villain.
“I’m waiting, El. I’ll give you another five minutes,” Harley yelled angrily, I could even hear her step her feet on the concrete floor.
“Hide in the bathroom,” El suggested, gesturing to the bathroom, although it was a bad idea.
“That’s a bad idea, El; she would know we are in there,” Nikky said, reading my thoughts.
“Let’s get under the bed,” I said, dragging Nikky with me as we crawled under the bed, trying to be as quiet as possible.
“Break her door down,” Harley told whoever was helping her break El’s door down.
Soon we heard the door crack open, from where we hid.
“There’s no need for that, Harley; you can come in,” El said.
I heard Harley’s footsteps, but she stopped walking and stood beside the bed. Those legs looked very familiar, but I just couldn’t recall.
She was wearing stiletto heels, and I expected that because Wicked people need to walk on their toes, they wear heels a lot.
“El, the old elder who got stripped of her fucking title in the coven,” Harley said as she sat in the bed, putting her weight on us who were underneath it.
“It’s hurting my back,” Nikky whispered to me, with a face of disgust.
“You have to bear the pain, or you can come out if you want to die,” I said, sarcastically, and she scoffed at me.
“What are you doing? You did your worst to me, and I didn’t retaliate; what’s the problem now?” El asked, sitting on her chair.
“That’s the problem, El; you didn’t retaliate, it means you are planning something, so I’m here to know what you are hiding,” Harley said, getting off the bed, relieving us of the weight we once carried.
“I didn’t retaliate because I don’t have enough dirt in you, but when I do, I’ll retaliate and you will pay so damn well,” El spat out, and I was certain her eyes were filled with terror as she spoke because her voice was filled with terror.
“Then what is Catherine’s daughter always doing at the coven? Are you helping her get dirt on me to pay back,” Harley yelled.
“I don’t know who Catherine is, and if I see her daughter, I’ll work with her to get dirt on you, but I don’t know who Catherine’s daughter is,” El lied, swallowing hard.
“I don’t believe you, El, and newsflash; siding with Catherine’s daughter is siding with the losing team,” Harley groaned at her, stamping her feet on the concrete floor, making me think it was a habit she had.
“If I’m siding with Catherine’s daughter, what are you going to do about it?” El asked, poking Harley in the face.
Harley gave a short sarcastic laughter, and suddenly, we heard the trigger of a gun.
“Are you going to kill me? Have you forgotten you can’t kill… ”
“An elder, I haven’t forgotten, but have you forgotten you were stripped of her title because you went after the wolves,” Harley said, her voice sounding devious; she is the devil.
“I did that for you, and now you are going to throw it at my face; the coven was against fighting the wolves, but I broke a law to serve you, and you want to kill me?” El asked with pain in her voice.
“Drop the emotional blackmail; I can kill you now because you aren’t shielded by your ancestors anymore; you were stripped of your powers, magic, and spells; what is a witch without those, though,” Harley mocked, laughing at her joke.
“I’m going to kill her,” Nikky whispered to me as she tried to leave our hiding place, but I held her back.
“Leave me alone; she is mocking El and might put a bullet into her head if I don’t help her out,” Nikky said, trying to break loose of my grip, and I held her tighter.
“Think Nikky, there is a gun pointed to El’s head; if you leave here, she will pull the trigger and shoot you as well, but if we stay here, El has the chance to negotiate with her,” I explained, and Nikky relaxed.
“That’s a coward, although it’s the safest thing to do,” She sneered at me.
“You want to kill me, then shoot me, and get it over with,” El said, and I hope she was joking about that.
“That’s too easy, although I would like to snoop around your house for anything implicating before I kill you,” Harley replied to El’s request.
“You can’t search my house,” El said with a shaking voice.
“You mean hut and not house? yes I can, and I will check your house,” She said, and I could imagine a wicked grin on her face.
“No…”
“Raise the bed,” Harley instructed.
“We are fucking fucked,” I said, burying my head on the ground.
