CHAPTER NINETY-FIVE
CATHERINE’S POV
It has been three days since I became conscious, and I am back on my feet, although I was instructed not to leave the hut, which was tiring because I wanted to explore the coven.
Staying with El has not been as awesome as I thought it would; the pressure for me to remember who I am was increasing every day.
“I remember Jaxon loves me,” I yelled, holding my ears, trying hard to reduce the spinning in my head. My nose was bleeding, and my mouth poured out blood as I spoke.
“You need to remember who you are, Child; your pack’s in trouble,” El yelled, triggering the pain in my head.
I fell to the ground yelling profusely, trying to remember everything, but the only person coming to my head was Jaxon.
“El, please stop; I can’t take this anymore,” I wept; the pain in my head was increasing, and my eyes were turning red as well; if this continues, I might transform.
“I can’t stop, you need to remember,” El yelled, still using her magic to trigger my head pressure.
“Ahh, please stop,” I grimaced in pain, falling to the ground. If she doesn’t stop, I’ll lose consciousness.
“El, she said stop,” Nikky yelled, pushing El to the ground; immediately, the arching in my head ceased, and I could catch my breath.
“You say the pack is in trouble and you think waiting for the right would make her remember who she was?” El asked as she stood from the ground.
El didn’t look upset that Nikky had pushed her to the ground; rather, she looked angry that I could not remember who I was.
Tears blurred my vision, and I felt like a failure. El had put all her efforts into helping me gain my memory, but nothing could come to my mind except for Jaxon and the exciting moment we spent together.
“Don’t cry, there’s a way,” Nikky said, wiping the tears in my face with the back of her palm.
Nikky handed me a handkerchief, to wipe my nose, which was still bleeding.
“Thank you, Nikky,” I appreciated and took the handkerchief from her; I wiped the blood away from my nose before looking up at El; she was very disappointed.
“I’m sorry, El; I didn’t mean to make you upset; I just can’t remember who I am,” I apologized, looking at the ground; I could not look into her angry eyes, which looked deadly.
“At least remember your fucking name; we can start from there,” El yelled as she sat on the bed angrily.
El didn’t bother to give me a helping hand, but Luckily Nikky took it upon herself to make sure I felt alright. I hated the fact I didn’t know about Nikky’s mother.
“Tell me my name; I’ll think it would trigger me to remember my past,” I said coldly; I just wanted to impress El.
“We can’t do it that way, you need…”
“Catherine, your name is Catherine fucking Tyler,” El sneered; before Nikky could complete her statement, Nikky immediately glared at her; the little girl is something else when she is angry.
“You can’t do that. It might trigger her memory, but it would be detrimental to her health; her life matters too, you know,” Nikky groaned at El as she raised me from the ground.
“My name is Catherine, and I live in Chicago,” I said, and they stared at me in surprise.
I didn’t know how I knew that, but it felt right like that was where my life was, and my history began from the pack.
“Is that all you know?” Nikky asked, gulping hard.
I raised my head to the ceiling to think of something else, but I was blank. The only thing I could remember was that Jaxon and I had a good life in Chicago.
“Jaxon and I were couples,” I said, looking at the both of them with wide eyes.
Nikky heaved a sigh of frustration, as she looked to the ground.
“Was Jaxon that bad?” I asked because the memories I had of him had only beautiful moments.
“Jaxon is a bad man; he is an asshole; you can’t remember other people?” Nikky asked, trying not to put pressure on me but I felt pressured regardless.
“I’m sorry, Nikky, but I got nothing,” I said plainly.
“We need to take a stroll outside, El; we won’t be gone for long,” Nikky said, grabbing me by the hand tightly.
“It is not safe, you know they are suspecting you already,” El whispered, but it fell on deaf ears. Because Nikky opened the door wide and dragged me outside.
“We would be back before you know it,” Nikky yelled, and I don’t think El would have heard.
“Where are we going?” I asked, giggling as she continued dragging me, the feeling of her hands wrapped around my arm felt familiar, but I shoved it off.
“Herbs, do you know about them?” I inquired and she shook her head in response.
“Nope, but my mother does,” She replied to my question, smiling at me.
I wanted to ask about her mother because they always talked about her, but it would look like I was intruding in their private life, so I shoved the thought off, too.
“Your mother is a smart ass, I can tell,” I complimented.
“I know,” She said.
Soon we got to the forest, and it looked very beautiful. I looked around in awe, the trees were arranged in a circular sequence, making everywhere more beautiful.
“Do you know the name of this herb?” Nikky asked, holding a herb in her hand.
“Oh yes, that’s the almond herbs, dear,” I said, taking it from her, I studied the herb carefully.
“Do you know what it is used for?” She asked, distracting me from my study.
“Yes of course, you can use it for sore throat, and as a facial scrub, it’s very good,” I explained, handing the herb back to her.
“That’s so brilliant, Catherine; how did you know that?” Nikky asked again, and I was almost exhausted from her question.
“I know because… because… ” I did not know how I knew the answer to that question, so I turned to look at Nikky and she was staring at me, waiting for an answer.
“I knew because I am a doctor,” I stated, and my eyes widened at my discovery.
