CHAPTER FIFTY-THREE
CATHERINE’S POV
“We did the same thing and you are here judging me?” Jaxon asked, I could see jealousy in his eyes.
Jaxon had always loved gaslighting, so trying to gaslight his way out might be his next move.
“Yes, Jaxon, that was why I came to the city to give the fuck of your life since another woman was fucking my husband,” Sereca yelled, and I quickly checked if she had woken my kids, but luckily for me, hadn’t.
Jaxon looked at Sereca in surprise,
“You are a freaking married woman,” he questioned Sereca and she gave him a slight nod, which was a lie.
“I am the Luna of my pack,” Sereca said with pride, raising her head high.
“You are not a married woman, Sereca; you are a divorcee; Burke divorced the living daylight out of you,” I corrected Sereca, and she gave me a frown; she looked embarrassed.
“What happened? Like what was the cause of your divorce?” Jaxon asked, interested in Sereca’s life making me think he was starting to like her, even with Natasha and his son.
Sereca was adjusting her dress nervously, ashamed to say the cause of the divorce. She knows if she lies, I’ll call her out and tell Jaxon she was telling a lie.
“I… I… I can’t remember,” She stuttered, which made me live. She came to my house to hurt me, but now she was the one getting uncomfortable when I did nothing to her.
“I know the reason, though,” I said, and Sereca started looking at me with pleading eyes; it was obvious she had grown a soft spot for Jaxon and wanted to impress him.
“Please share with me the reason for their divorce, I would love to know,” Jaxon said, looking at me.
I could see how Sereca grew restless every minute that passed by.
“She cheated on Burke and gave birth to children that weren’t his, but she claimed they were his for over seven years,” I explained, and Jaxon’s mouth fell open; he turned to look at Sereca; her face was flushed with embarrassment.
“Why would you do that? Who is the father of your kids then?” He asked, folding his arms on his chest and giving Sereca a judging look like he hadn’t done the same to me.
But the question brought life to Sereca as she raised her head to speak.
“His name is Travis, and he will soon get me back into the pack, and then he will be Alpha after Killing Burke in a duel,” She said with pride as she looked at me, smiling widely.
“They have done the duel; I hope you know that,” I said, and Sereca was shocked.
“So Burke is already dead; that was why you left the pack then because Burke is no more, I’ll soon be getting back into our pack,” She said, and her joy knew no bounds, although it would soon be crushed when I told her the truth.
“No, Sereca, I mean Travis is dead; Burke killed him in the duel,” I said, and as I thought, her newfound joy crashed; she could only enjoy it for a few minutes.
“Travis is stronger than Burke, how the fuck did that happen? There was a foul play,” She yelled, as tears gathered in her eyes. I did not feel pity for her, she was just like Harley.
“I think both of you have overstayed your welcome; it’s time to go back to your kids,” I said, and Serena looked at Jaxon in surprise.
“I thought you said you don’t have kids!” Sereca yelled as she walked towards her car.
“I thought you said you weren’t married,” Jaxon said in defense, and soon they were already in an argument.
I closed my door behind them and walked to the kitchen, where I was cooking something for my kids and me.
I could feel Burke’s presence as if he was in Chicago, and it grew stronger as the clock ticked, probably because he was thinking of me, and I missed him so much.
“Is this how the mate bond works?” I asked myself to break some eggs in a bowl.
“Mum I have something to ask you,” I hear Dikky’s voice, I turned to see him standing by the doorway, he had been sad since he got back from school, and all my efforts to make him tell me the reason for his sudden change of emotions were a total waste, as he kept mute.
“Please ask me, darling,” I said reassuringly, hoping he would tell me the reason for his sadness.
“Is our father dead?” He asked and I stood shocked, unable to say a word.
My triplets had never asked about their father before, probably because there was a father figure living with them, and now that Jaxon’s fine, they are feeling the emptiness.
“No baby, your father is alive, strong, and healthy,” I said, trying to sound reassuring, but that didn’t change Dikky’s mood.
“He doesn’t love us then If he is alive and has not come to see how we are faring,” Dikky said angrily.
How was I going to tell him that his father doesn’t even know of his existence, and might not even believe it if I tell him about them? But if he had known, he would have loved them with all his heart.
I stopped what I was doing and bent In Front of Dikky.
“The kids in school always laugh at me that I don’t have a father and the one that took care of us didn’t love us; that was why he took us to an orphanage home,” he said before I could speak up.
I wondered how the kids at school knew about that when I realized that news spreads like wildfire.
“Your father is the most loving man you will ever meet; he will put your needs before his, but he isn’t… “Before I could finish my statement, I heard a shout for help coming from Rikky’s room.
Immediately, Dikky and I ran towards there, only to see Nikky crying over Ricky’s unconscious body.
“He was cutting himself with a razor blade,” Nikky said, crying, but my heart stopped beating, and I couldn’t see properly.
