CHAPTER FORTY-SIX
HARLEY’S POV
I was dragged to Burke’s Mansion and made to kneel in front of him; All my hard work was about to go down the drain for nothing.
I looked at Ava, and my anger increased; Ava denied me in the presence of everyone; now all fingers are pointing at me for Ethan’s death; the only luck I had was that I was with Burke and Catherine at that time.
I was taken to the torture room and was getting prepared to be tortured when one of the guards raised me angrily.
“You have a visitor,” He said and didn’t wait for me to respond before handcuffing me.
“If I get out of here, I’ll make you take your tongues out for talking to me rudely, and then your hands would be next,” I threatened, but the guard was frightened by my threat; rather, he ordered me to walk, which I complied to immediately.
“I pray it is not Burke I get go see,” I said to myself as we headed to the waiting room; I didn’t want to see triumph in his eyes; the only joy I had was that I took someone he loved dearly, which is Catherine.
“I want to talk to my best friend alone,” I heard Ava say as I entered the waiting room.
“Traitor,” I muttered to myself as I sat in the opposite chair; Ava heard me call her Traitor, and she didn’t say anything, probably because that was what she was.
Soon the waiting room contained only Ava and me.
“You bastard, you stabbed me in the fucking back,” I said, not bothered if I yelled, They wouldn’t believe me if I said Ava was my accomplice.
“Shut your mouth, Harley, you fell into Burke’s trap, and you want me to go down with you; that’s not happening; I still need to be Alpha,” She said, looking angrily at me.
“How would I know your brother set a trap for me? I didn’t know I would get followed,” I replied with defense in my voice.
“I thought you were smart; when Burke saw blood stains in your hand, he started suspecting; you need to learn how to read body language,” She said harshly, but she was right anyway; that was a fucking wrong move.
“At least Catherine’s dead,” I stated looking to the ground.
“She isn’t dead, Burke save her sorry ass,” Ava said, and I stared at her in shock; Burke fucking lied to me; he told me she was dead.
“I would have just shot her when she called my name, but you stopped me; this is your fault,” I told Ava harshly, and she rolled her eyes in response.
When Catherine noticed I was her kidnapper, I wanted to shoot her immediately, but Ava stopped me, saying we shouldn’t kill her till after her father’s burial, just to pay her father some respect.
So I ended up torturing her, and that was why there were blood stains on my hand when I went to the burial.
“That was my fault, but we need a plan, and I think I have one, but you must follow my instructions,” She said, and I nodded in response.
I am now like a puppet to Ava; all my men are dead, and she was the only partner I had left.
“I’ll make sure your punishment isn’t death; you will get banished and lay low before we strike again,” She said, and I nodded to it immediately; that was something simple to do.
“But you would have to confess everything you did,” Ava said, and I looked at her in surprise; I knew there was something added to my punishment.
“Is that necessary,” I asked, and she nodded in response.
“Leave your involvement with Ethan’s death out of it, it would implicate me, and if I go down, we won’t be able to get the power we are craving for”, she said, and she was right; we can all go down.
“So when is my trial? So I can confess all I did,” I asked, preparing my mind for the worst to happen.
“Now,” Ava said, and immediately, two guards entered the waiting room.
“It’s time for your trial,” They said.
Ava gave me a silent nod before leaving the waiting room.
I followed the guards to my trail, which would be held in the market square.
Soon, we were at the market square, and it was surrounded by almost all the members of both Crescent and Haong packs; my pack members had to be there for my trial.
I was taken to the middle of the market square and made to kneel in front of everyone.
“Whore, Witch, monster” were most of the names the pack members called me; some even threw dirt at me.
I was angry, but I had to suck it all up, I needed patience, and I had to follow what Ava said diligently; I’ll surely come back for these masses that think it’s nice to throw dirt at me.
Soon, Burke came into the market square with Ava and Jack by his side; it seemed like Jack had been released.
My anger increased Because I had paid the Alpha’s advice to implicate and involve Jack in the death of Ethan.
“Bastard,” I said to myself when I sighted the advice at the back of Burke.
Burke sat on the chair decorated for him and raised his hands, and soon the market square was silent, that was the kind of power I needed.
“Today, we have Harley Poland, from Hoang pack, accused of attempted murder; guilty or not guilty,” The pack’s judge asked in a loud voice.
I looked at Ava and she gave me a slight nod, which gave me more courage.
“Guilty,” I yelled, Which earned the pack members to throw more dirt at me as they yelled, “Whore”
“Do you still have what to confess to the caught member?” He asked and I nodded in response.
The crowd yelled more, and Burke raised his hand for silence, and everywhere went silent immediately.
The pack’s judge ushered me to confess.
“I injected Catherine with wolf’s bane, making her unable to feel any mate bond with Burke because I suspected she was his mate,” I said, and the crowd gasped in surprise.
But I enjoyed the shock in Burke’s eyes more.
