ARAWN
The memory of Nerthus screaming my name in pleasure while I slam into her lying on the poker table is the only thing that has me grasping onto my sanity.
I finally got her to agree to come back to work for me, and I can’t wait to get out of here to make up for all the time we had lost while playing cat and mouse.
I know that she was going out with her friends tonight, but even if she tried to reject me, she knows exactly that I will be waiting for her as soon as she comes home. We had been entwined into each other sharing another cigarette as we were discussing our schedules. She had rolled her eyes at it, but I could see how she had to force down her smile. My heart blooms at the thought of her being as desperate for our intimacy as I am.
The look in her eyes as I told her how she was lucky enough to not be tied to a bed for me already, would be able to fuel my lust for years.
I love how she overcame her discomfort with me, and I can’t wait to have her in every possible way and also tied to a chair.
I’ll have her lose every fear and insecurity to replace it with lust and pleasure.
Dario clears his throat as he turns pages back and front onto his little booklet while I am leaning in my seat behind my desk, doing my best not to shoot him.
He is a good soldier, replacing him would be a nuisance.
“We resolved the issue at the port and were able to find the source of the leak between the couriers. Aurelio already took care of it,” he recites relieved. “Stefano is now reorganizing the deals with Mattia. He told me that in a few days, everything should be back to normal.”
He closes his booklet with a grin, and I close my eyes with a sigh. “Perfect.”
“Something the matter, boss? Did we miss so-?” he asks, making me interrupt him with a groan.
“Keep that damn thing closed.” He closes his booklet back up and straightens his spine.
“You did everything alright. No string is still loose. Keep me updated on the matter. If they still have issues in two days, send Stefano to me. We have to get the cargo on track, or it would be bad for business.”
He bounces on his feet as he goes about how he is securing everything possible to keep us from facing even more losses.
Scratching my chin, I block out the feeling of talking to a schoolboy. “And that Kyle guy?”
“Nothing, boss.” I spot the micro movement he makes before he forces himself from opening his booklet. “We are still looking into it.”
I hum as he fidgets with his notebook nervously. “Go ahead.”
As if stung by an adder, his arms shoot up and he opens his notebook like an addict that finally got his drug.
“He disappeared several months ago,” he breathes out as he scrolls through his notebook and reads the information off the scribbled pages.
Listening carefully, I try to find a sense in the matter. “The dates don’t ring a bell. Is there something you can link to in my calendar?”
“I checked with Elinor,” he nods. “She provided me with a list of your appointments that week.”
I take the sheet that he passes me and check the names on it. As I’m scrolling through the names, I halt on one that practically screams at me.
“I saw Nerthus in that period?” I ask him, my eyes still glued to the sheet.
“Yes,” he confirms, turning a page. “You had booked her a few days before he was last seen.”
He seems to have a little epiphany as he suddenly starts to scroll a few pages back hastily.
“Huh!” he breathes out as he ponders over something, comparing his notes.
“What is it?” I ask an uncomfortable feeling expanding in my chest.
He takes a deep breath. “I have a memo from the time when we were keeping her under surveillance, and there is a note that tells me that he was seen entering her building on a Sunday. Just a day after he was officially seen for the last time.”
“I beg your pardon?” My eyes widen as I watch him nod while turning the page.
“It was just the Sunday before you went to dinner with her. You had seen her at the club before and you told me to make sure the restaurant was secured.”
Laughing to myself as the memory of our table crosses my mind, I shift in my seat. “So, this was around that time? It’s been ages already, isn’t it?”
He nods, causing me to click my tongue. “Has the police looked into it?”
“Yes, but not very thoroughly. His employer has made several reports on him going missing, but they always closed the file as voluntary disappearance as they didn’t find anything of interest to think of something else.”
He hands me a file which I open on my desk with a hum. “He also isn’t the type you would spend any energy or resources on.”
“That’s exactly it, boss. As I was going through it, I found enough evidence to think that something was strange. As an officer, I would have taken a closer look.”
Breathing out, I close the file. “Do it then. Find out everything you can about this disappearance. Something doesn’t quite sit right with me.”
Dario starts noting everything down as my mind spirals back to our table that evening. I never went out of my way that far to have the privacy I wanted to have with her. I felt like a little boy as I was waiting for her promises to come true which she had made me in that bloody janitor’s room in the club.
I remember that we also had dessert in a bar situated on the top floor of a skyscraper. I couldn’t take my eyes off her even if the view around us must have been breathtaking, as her eyes were sparkling while she was admiring it. I couldn’t wrap my head around what was happening to us.
There I was still surprised at how much I desired her, and how I loved how she would cling to me while I was fucking her.
And I eventually fucked her against one of the panoramic windows, as if wanting to show the world how fucking beautiful she was as well.
But I also remember Nerthus telling me how he had attacked her. And that she had strangulation marks around her neck.
She kept me from going after him, saying that Saman already had enough trouble because of him. And that she didn’t want to see her disappointed.
But that doesn’t make any sense. She said he ran away as her neighbor was chasing him.
Where did he go?
I’m still pondering over the fact as my phone rings, and I pick it up with a groan.
“Boss,” Bernard shouts over the blaring music. “I have something here you might want to look at.”
“I’m busy, Bernie. What is it?” I spin my pen in my hand.
He laughs, making me distort my face. “We caught a little bird that was trying to steal.”
“A drug thief? Really? Why should I have to look at something like this? Just take care of it. I don’t care.” I say annoyed.
His laughter rumbles through the phone once again. “I would have already taken care of it. But believe me! You want to come and take a look at it.”
