EVOLET
“We are surrounded. Any plans, Big dog?” Trent asked Cadell, carefully getting Derby to stand next to Mom and I, taking his position next to Cadell.
The speeding figures moving from one tree to another in the dark, showed how ready the vampires were for this battle.
They must think we didn’t see them and expect us to come closer. But that won’t be happening.
We aren’t falling for that trick.
Thinking about them, I flashed to Scarlet and thought of my plans to get her on my side.
“She can’t be far from us. If I…” I stared down at my necklace and carefully held the wolf with my finger. “If I can just take this part off, then it’ll be easy to trace her real quick. But once my aura is released…”
My mind went to sorceress Thelma and Chriselda.
“We are still close to Wolf Fall. That old woman will pick my scent and trace me down here,” I reasoned, thinking about the consequences that will follow if I release my wolf.
“But Scarlet… I need to get to her. Now is the best time,” I viewed, contemplating on what to do.
On lifting my head to look at the others, my heart skipped on seeing Cadell looking at me.
He must have sensed my plan and turned immediately to see things for himself.
Narrowing his brow down, Cadell swayed his head and carefully took my hand off my necklace, stopping me from taking that step.
“Don’t do anything, Eve,” Cadell said, holding my hand tight.
I gave no reply but did as he ordered.
Then he said to Trent, giving Kitty the response he was waiting for, “We move ahead and try to keep those bats off our path. It’s better than staying here to wait for the Queen and her army.”
“I agree. There’s no time to waste,” Trent supported, pulling Derby close into his arms.
Cadell did the same with Mom and I. He held us tight and dashed forward, running towards the same trees those shadows were hovering around in the dark.
It’s the direction we were supposed to follow before this ambush. We have no other choice.
Trent did the same, following Cadell side by side.
And the moment we got near, both men gave a powerful leap right into that road, creating a huge distance between us and the starting point!
When I turned back to look at the gap, I was stunned to see about twenty Vampires coming after us!
Their eyes glowed red, and their hands had signs of active dark magic.
“Goodness! They were really waiting to attack us!” Mom shrieked, looking at the Vampires chasing us from behind.
“This way!” Cadell yelled at Trent, changing his direction.
There were more vampires coming from the front, forcing Cadell to change his route.
The guys were really fast and careful. They made sure the vampires didn’t get to us, especially the ones who started releasing their spells from above.
The seriousness in their attacks. Aren’t they supposed to save all this energy for the war?
“Look out!” Derby alerted Trent when a demon bat came flying towards them!
Before Trent could react to this, Cadell intervened, stepping into his battle mode.
It went really fast, but I saw it all.
There was a flash of darkness that came covering us, along with the demon bat. I felt Cadell’s body expanding while this was happening.
When he swiftly placed me right on his back to hang on, I saw my pervy wolf in his full transformation.
Cadell went full Werewolf _not the main scary beast_ and grabbed both Trent and Derby with his arm, delivering a brutal judgement to the demon bat.
He had his large teeth sinking into the wings of this vampire, before swooshing him right into a tree with force, ripping the wings off.
“Oh my Goodness!” Derby exclaimed at Cadell’s swift move. It came as a shocking surprise, since she wasn’t expecting it.
“I could have handled it myself, Grandpa,” Trent frowned, squinting his eyes at Cadell.
That’s when he said, speedily dodging the vampires from getting anywhere near us, “I know that, Cat. Trust me, I don’t enjoy carrying you in my arms either. I only want to get us out of this place fast. If we give these bats our full attention, they will only delay us from leaving.”
He made a good point there.
If we stand to fight them, we won’t get to safety, and that will only buy our enemies more time to get to us.
“Don’t worry. We’ll be out of here in no time. Just hang on to me, okay?” Cadell said, turning his head a bit to look at me.
That’s when I knew he was talking to me.
With a smile, I nodded at him, wrapping my arms tight around his neck for a strong lock.
Cadell gave the Vampires no room for a fight. If he wanted to combat with them, he would have done that without holding back. But for now, our safety was more important to him than anything.
Dashing faster, we finally spotted an opening ahead of us. Trent was swift to recognize the road, directing Cadell towards a route which he felt was faster to his pack.
He’s the Alpha after all. He’ll know all of these.
Just when Cadell was about following this road… “EVOLET!” Derby suddenly yelled out, stretching out her hand to grab me!
Her scream made my heart skip. I had no time to understand what was happening until the unexpected took place.
The bracelet around Derby’s wrist suddenly released a strong white energy that swooshed pass my ear, hitting… someone!
“AHHHH!” I heard a scream from behind. It sounded like a woman’s voice!
When I turned back to look, I was shocked to see the Vampire Queen falling hard to the ground, trying to wipe something off her face!
“Scarlet?” I gasped, realizing that the Vampire Queen almost snatched me off Cadell!
She came after me?
“Evolet, are you okay?!” Cadell called, sounding worried.
My eyes were still fixed on Scarlet. The raging Queen lifted her head at our direction and shimmered her red eyes right at me.
When I saw this, a sudden intuition came to my mind. “Is she going after Wolf Fall alone or me?” I suspected, sensing something troubling about Scarlet’s action.
“Evolet!” Cadell yelled out my name, jolting me out of my thought.
“Yes?” I answered, finally relieving him from his worry.
“She’s fine,” Mom said, placing her hand on Cadell to calm his mood.
Trent had to repeat the say thing Mom just said. “Evolet is okay. Derby… saved her,” he said, looking at a stunned Derby.
My bestie was gazing at her bracelet in shock. She couldn’t believe that the gift I gave to her just saved my life.
“Eve, did you know it could do that?” She asked, looking at me.
I couldn’t answer that because I wasn’t expecting such a show from the bracelet either.
Only Trent gave her an answer by telling her his sorcerer handed it to me for a reason.
“It’s a good thing you had it on, otherwise that bat would have taken her.”
“That Bat? Trent, that wasn’t an ordinary vampire. That was the main head herself!” Derby pointed out, glancing at me.
She recognized Scarlet’s face.
“That Queen came after Eve. Now I’m beginning to have second thoughts about this union stuff,” She said, expressing her discomfort towards my plan.
Just then, a blazing light appeared in our way like a wall, stopping Cadell in his track!
He didn’t stop because of the dark magic before us, but because of the person who came out from this light, standing in our way!
“Scarlet,” I uttered, staring at the furious Vampire Queen.
Her eyes… They were locking with mine.
“Going somewhere, Evolet?” She grinned, chuckling out.
When Cadell heard my name from her mouth, he turned to look at me, understanding the problem on ground.
“The battle hasn’t begun and you’re already taking a vacation out of Wolf Fall? Nah!” She swayed her head, tilting it to the side.
“You aren’t going anywhere.” She said, sounding creepy.
“My preparation for tonight will not be in vain, Eve. I won’t be at peace until you’re out for good. I’m going to make sure you don’t live this place alive. Only then will I have Wolf Fall to myself,” She said, revealing her main plan.
What a twist.
Her plan wasn’t to fight the sorceress and the Queen to take Wolf Fall, but me!
She sees me as the main challenger, not Chriselda and Thelma!
