EVOLET
It’s clear.
Scarlet won’t stand aside until she gets what she wants.
And that something is me.
“She wants Evolet?” Mom uttered in a whisper, turning to look at me.
Her eyes were filled with shock. Scarlet’s words has planted a sudden fear in her heart for her only child.
I can’t allow her to feel troubled about this. Nothing bad will happen to me.
“Mom,” I called, sliding off Cadell’s back. “Everything will be fine. At least she’s here like we wanted. Let me just…”
“I doubt if this bat wants to stand and listen to you, Eve,” Trent said with a cold stare for Scarlet, getting out of Cadell’s hold.
That’s because my Wolfy allowed him.
He’s also mad at what the vampire Queen just said.
Growling, Cadell said, dropping both Mom and Derby aside, taking his stance with his eyes kept locked at Scarlet,”She’s a threat.”
“Cadell, no. She just need…”
“Cadell?” I heard Scarlet utter my pervy wolf’s name, gaining our attention.
When I turned to look at her face, I saw a sign of astonishment written all over her face. Almost as if she had seen a ghost.
Wait, maybe not a ghost. I think she remembers that name!
It’s just like Trent. He only recognized Cadell through his form. Maybe this will help Scarlet understand that we’re the good guys here!
Scarlet kept staring at Cadell, looking confused.
Taking this opportunity, I said, stepping forward, “Scarlet, I’ve told you this before and I’ll still say it again. I… I am not your enemy.”
Her wide eyes fell on me, listening to my voice.
“Do you remember when we both fought for the first time? You mistook me for the sorceress of Wolf Fall, until that night at the arena when you attacked my pack,” I reminded her, taking a few steps forward before halting.
“You saw with your own eyes that you were mistaken about my identity. I am not Sorceress Thelma, but Evolet.” I pointed at myself, smiling at her.
Scarlet gasped softly, glancing at us. I noticed how her legs trembled. She wanted to make an attempt to near me, but held back.
“We are not your enemies. We are friends,” I said, giving her that assurance that everything was fine.
I took the bold step to remind her of our first battle and the vision I saw that night. “You and Luna Violet had a relationship when you were a little girl. She was like your friend. And I know that you remember Cadell as well?”
I pointed at him, so she’d see this different wolf in our midst.
“He was close to Luna Violet, just like you.”
“How… How did you know? There’s no way you could have known unless…” she paused, realizing something.
“No… The only ones who knew about this are long gone, even Luna Violet. So, how did you know?” She asked, finally taking a bold step forward.
Seeing this, I felt the right moment was finally here.
It’s time to make Scarlet see the light.
“You might find it hard to believe me if I tell you the truth with just words. But there’s only one way to give you all your answer,” I said, extending my right hand to her.
Scarlet saw this and kept drawing nearer to me.
“Evolet,” Cadell growled, still suspicious of the Vampire Queen.
I signaled him with my left hand to stay calm, believing everything will work out fine for us.
Scarlet drew closer, slowly extending her hand out to mine.
And the moment she got close, my wolf kicked in when it saw what Scarlet did!
Her face switched from innocent to evil!
She suddenly unleashed a dark magic in her hand, launching it at me for a strike!
On seeing this, I was ready to react when my Cadell swiftly pulled me back and grabbed Scarlet by the throat, slamming her hard to the ground!
The impact was powerful!
It made my body tremble at the force he used on her.
His darkness quenched the spell from her hand, forcing Scarlet to go berserk! She was trying to throw Cadell off, but Pervy Wolf showed her he wasn’t like other wolves to mess with.
“Your words won’t get to me, Evolet. You are just trying to deceive me into thinking you are a saint! But I know well that Queen Chriselda sent you to trap me!” she grinned, still struggling with Cadell, who gave her a head slam to the floor, stopping her from moving.
Breathing out heavily while looking straight into my eyes, Scarlet said, misinterpreting everything again, “Not everyone that knew about my closeness to the late Luna died, Eve. Your precious Queen Chriselda knew about little Scarlet and Luna Violet. I was just playing with you, so you’d think I actually trust you!”
“That’s enough!” Cadell groaned, adding pressure on her, making Scarlet scream in pain.
“Cadell, don’t!” I stopped, sensing where my Pervy wolf was heading to.
He turned to look at me and said, shimmering his silver eyes, “I told you we’ll handle this topic later. This bat isn’t ready to listen.”
“Cadell.”
“Trent,” Cadell called out in a strong voice, signaling Kitty to do something which I didn’t grab real quick.
Only Trent understood the message.
“Time to go,” Trent said, shifting into his Cat form to easily grab Mom, Derby, and I, in one goal.
When Scarlet saw his form, she was stunned!
“Alpha Trent?” She uttered, recognizing the Alpha of the Werecats.
“I see what is going on here. So, you have joined hands with these wolves to wipe my kind out, huh? Well…” She grinned, turning to look at me. “Better get your running shoes on, because you’ll be needing it.”
“What is she yammering about?” Derby asked, frowning at Scarlet.
To our greatest surprise, Scarlet gave out a loud irritating sound that made our ears ring with disgust!
Only Cadell wasn’t affected by her cry.
Pervy Wolf had to clip her lips with his hand, yelling at us, “GO!”
Without hesitation, Trent dashed out of that spot, racing deeper into the forest without looking back.
“Cadell!” I called out loudly, scared of what my pervy wolf would do to Scarlet.
His eyes showed it back there, and I don’t want to believe it.
All of a sudden, Vampires began appearing from different corners and in the air, trying to get us.
That’s what the cry was meant for.
Scarlet called her armies to get us!
“I don’t think we can escape them!” Mom alerted on seeing how vicious these bats were jumping and flying, just to get us.
With this number, Trent alone can’t handle them, unless… “Trent, let me go!”
“What?! No!” He refused, skillfully pouncing from a tree to another larger one far from the starting point, dodging the vampires in the air.
“You have to allow me to stop them, Kitty. Let me handle them, please,” I begged, glancing back at the Vampires chasing us.
Trent didn’t want to let me go, but when Mom tapped him and sided with me… “Damn! I will not be answering to Cadell after this!” He grumbled, delivering a swift smirk.
He agreed!
I told Trent to let go off me when he makes his next jump. “Take Derby and Mom to safety. I’ll join you guys,” I promised, placing my hand on the wolf on my necklace.
As soon as Trent took his next jump from a great height, my body slipped out off his hold, falling to the ground.
That’s when I pulled the wolf of my necklace, unleashing my wolf.
With a quick move, I made a perfect landing, before lifting my head to see the Vampires going after Trent, Mom and Derby.
“Looks like they didn’t see when I dropped off. That makes it even more easier for me.”
As planned, I went after the Vampires and caught up with them before they could get to my loved ones.
When a bat had his hand almost touching Trent, I dived in with a powerful punch to the jaw from below, scattering their group in an instant.
My presence became a problem for the bats, especially the ones that recognized me from our last encounter. I saw how they all drew back, clinging themselves on different branches, flashing their bloody red eyes at me.
“Make it snappy, Eve. You need to catch up with the others,” I muttered to myself, glancing from one tree to another, waiting to see who’d make a move.
And as expected, they took their steps, attacking me.
Now that I had a clear understanding to this level of my power, it was easy to put this bats down without much stress.
Unlike the fight at Brook Wave, I was brief with this one.
The vampires, not all of them, came falling to the ground with bruises, while the others fled back in fear, after witnessing my attack.
I know when Scarlet sees this, she’ll be extremely furious. But speaking of her… “Cadell, please tell me you didn’t hurt her?” I feared, holding my necklace lightly, so he’d feel my worry.
Just then… “I never knew how pretty your necklace was, until now… Evolet.”
On hearing that voice, my whole body shivered!
“I recognize that voice. That’s… Goddess!”
Turning to the spot where I heard that statement, and saw a red glowing chain coming at me from behind!
Quickly, I flipped over, dodging this spell that almost had me locked in its clutches, before making a landing on the ground.
I lifted my head at the direction where this dark magic had spun out from and saw… “Thelma,” I groaned, glaring at the sorceress.
She sat comfortably on a tree, smirking at me!
“Evolet, my beautiful Omega.” She chuckled, crossing her legs. “Good to see you again.”
