EVOLET
Time was running out and Cadell wasn’t back.
The sky had gone dark and everyone in the pack were hurrying back to their homes to stay hidden, as per the Queen’s order.
She made an announcement towards this evening, claiming that the Vampires were approaching Wolf Fall to start a war.
To the people, the Queen is out to protect and fight for the Werewolves like old times, but to us, it’s just a set up to search fish us out.
She didn’t just make that announcement alone, but told everyone in the pack that the guards would be on the look out for any danger.
Hearing that notice meant we’ll be surrounded with guards once the entire pack is empty of the people.
“Cadell, where are you?” I panicked, holding my necklace so as to send a signal to him.
And just when we thought the Queen’s order would work against us, Cadell showed up.
“Where have you been?” I asked, drawing closer to him.
“Sorry I took so long. I had to clear a path for us to escape. Now we can leave,” He shared the good news with a smile, taking hold of my hand.
At last, the moment we’ve been waiting for was finally here.
We all got ourselves ready and sneakily left the apartment, following Cadell from behind.
The pack now had a few people moving around, getting set to head to their homes and hide.
It didn’t look like a ghost pack just yet, but at least, the number of pack members roaming about was enough to help us blend in perfectly well.
“This way,” Cadell directed, taking a different route we haven’t followed before.
It still led to the forest, but it was a completely hidden path into the Woods.
Without any hesitation, we followed him, and carefully made our way into the forest without any guards spotting us.
They were beginning to make themselves known. All part of Chriselda and Thelma’s plan.
When we all drew a few steps away from Wolf Fall, Cadell said, sharing what he had seen ahead, “There were traces of dark magic circulating Wolf Fall. Part of it was from Thelma, and the other from those Vampires.”
“Vampires?” I was surprised to hear this from Cadell.
Pervy Wolf had picked traces of those Vampires around the forest, indicating those creatures plans to attack Wolf Fall tonight!
“So, Chriselda wasn’t lying about the war?” I said, flashing to the Vampire Queen, Scarlet.
That raging bat won’t accept defeat. She really wants to wipe out this pack
“Since she’ll be attacking the pack, maybe… maybe I should grab this opportunity to talk to her,” I reasoned, thinking about my discussion with the others.
They are already in support of the idea, but only Cadell is left.
I need to tell him before we miss our chance.
But will he be okay with the plan?
“Don’t worry about it. I’ve made a clear path off that area. It’s free of those traps set by the sorceress and the Vampires. We’ll be arriving at the Werecat’s territory in no time,” Cadell said, swiftly lifting Mom and I into his hold, giving Trent the signal to do the same with Derby.
I even forgot that we’ll be needing a destination once we run away from Wolf Fall. At least, Cadell and Trent already got that planned out.
I’m glad to have them both.
“There’s no time to waste. Let’s move,” Cadell said, dashing off with speed.
Trent followed us, taking the path Pervy Wolf went through.
As we all moved through the woods with swift… “Cadell,” I called, hanging on to him.
He couldn’t look at me but made a hum to show he heard me.
“There’s something I want to talk to you about.”
“Can it wait?” He asked, swooshing over a fallen tree.
“I can’t say,” I responded, thinking about it.
“Then let’s talk about it when we get to the pack,” He said, still keeping his focus ahead.
I didn’t know if telling him about the plan now was the best idea.
I was going to stay silent and wait for the right mother when suddenly… “Cadell, is there a way we can get to those Vampires?” Mother asked, surprising me and Pervy wolf!
He was confused and had to ask, “Why?”
I felt my heart beating when Mom’s eyes fell on me. Looks like she saw my attempts to tell Cadell about our plan.
“When you left, we all came up with an idea that’d help us in handling those two once and for all.”
“A plan?” Cadell uttered, turning to face me while taking a powerful leap off a tree branch.
My words got stuck in my throat. All I did was nod my head, to confirm Mom’s words.
“What’s this plan about and how does it link with the vampires?” He asked, getting uncomfortable.
Mom boldly shared it with Cadell, telling him how I organized a way scheme to get both Werecats and Vampires to side with me in taking out Chriselda and Thelma.
“If the whole werewolves witness this strong union from both sides and see the same ability of the late Luna in Evolet, they’ll come to realize the real truth,” Mom pointed out, delivering the message to Cadell on my behalf.
When he heard this, Cadell came to a stop right below a tree, and turned to look at me again.
The expression he gave, got me worried. I couldn’t tell if he was displeased with the idea or not.
Trent and Derby came halting next to us. They wanted to know what the problem was.
“You want to get the Vampires to work with you?” Cadell asked, lifting his brow at me.
I nodded with a lump in my throat, forcing out words, “Yes… That’s the plan.”
I thought Cadell would stand against it, but my pervy wolf took away my fear by smiling at me, saying, “That’s not a bad idea.”
“Really?” I grinned back at him, feeling relieved.
My Cadell’s behavior has been troubling me lately. Ever since we decided to come back and carry out our plot against Chriselda and Allen, he hasn’t been himself.
Now, thanks to those two women and the late Beta, they have added to my Wolfy’s worry.
He can’t rest without thinking about my safety.
It’s like saying history it’s repeating himself once again, and this time, he wants to make sure everyone, mostly me, is protected from Thelma and Chriselda’s clutches.
That’s why I was troubled about sharing this idea with him. But I’m glad he’s seeing the positive side of this plan.
“Scarlet and Luna Violet have a past connection with each other. If I can get to her now, then I…”
“I know that, Eve. But now isn’t the right time for all that,” Cadell interrupted, objecting at once.
“We are talking about the Vampire Queen, Eve. That woman doesn’t look like someone who’s ready to have a conversation, especially at this period.”
“But Cadell…”
“Evolet, your idea is nice. But if you want to make it successful, we need to get to our destination first and plan things properly. Here isn’t the right ground for that,” He argued, making a point.
Trent also agreed with him and suggested we get to his pack to have a better conversation on Scarlet.
Having no other choice, “Okay,” I agreed, giving Cadell a light smile.
“Thank you. Now we need to leave. We aren’t out of Wolf Fall yet,” He said, grabbing Mom and I again, before dashing ahead into the woods.
In less than five minutes, we were crossing the path that demarcates Wolf Fall from the other part of the world.
What we saw left us stunned.
We found about six to seven unconscious Wolf Fall guards, scattered about that area in a disturbing manner.
They looked badly injured with no strength left in them.
No need to ask how this happened, because Cadell’s face showed it all.
This is his doing.
He had to clear the path for us to escape. They were a stumbling block, that’s why he did what he had to do.
Thinking of all his efforts to protect me, my heart glowed sweetly for my pervy wolf. I felt really drawn to him and carefully held on to my Cadell, squeezing him close.
He felt my grip and gave me a quick smile, before concentrating on the road.
Suddenly… “Careful!” Cadell alerted Trent, swiftly releasing his darkness to quench a dark aura that came out of nowhere!
It was a strange barrier that almost engulfed us from above. Cadell was swift to sense and remove it immediately.
But I thought he said this pathway was free from dark magic?
How come there’s one here?
Just then, I began to pick a familiar scent around us.
The smell of… “Vampires,” Cadell, Trent, and I chorused on recognizing the odor of those bats.
It was clear that they were close. Not one, not even ten… but a large number.
“Can you see them?” Cadell asked, looking right into the darkness ahead of us.
I hummed when I saw movements running swiftly from one tree to another.
An ambush.
They saw us coming.
Scarlet wasn’t joking when she said she’ll come back to take Wolf Fall out. That woman is desperate to overthrown the Werewolves.
I know Cadell says we’ll discuss about her when we get to Trent’s pack, but it seems the heavens want us to settle this right here and now.
If that’s the case, then so be it.
