CHAPTER 106

QUEEN CHRISELDA
“Evolet! Evolet!! EVOLET!!!” I sparked, slamming my fist into the wall.
“It’s always her! WHY GODDESS?!”
“I can’t handle that girl any more. This is getting out of hand for me!” I groaned, flashing to the look on her face when she glanced at me before leaving the arena.
She once again stolen the hearts of the people, and now she has done it again.
They are talking about how she and her friend sent that Vampire Queen running.
It has been the latest topic since last night’s hunt!
Even this lousy people have taken it to the internet, calling her Wolf Fall’s true Luna.
“She is no Luna. I am the one who will decide who the true Luna and Queen of this pack will be!” I vented once again, slamming my hand into the wall again, but harder.
This time, I made a big hole to the other side, only for me to hear the sound of someone screaming out in fear from the other end.
When I looked, I found a maid staring at me in fear from the opening. Her face trembled before she fled away with speed without waiting.
I stood there gazing into the hole I made when suddenly… KNOCK! KNOCK!!
“WHAT?!” I sparked, turning to look at my door.
“Um… my Queen? You have visitors,” a guard reported from outside.
“I don’t want to see anybody,” I said, rejecting this visitation.
“But my Queen, it’s the elders,” he revealed, leaving me in a tight spot!
“Damn it! Why are they here?!” I grumbled, running my palm across my face.
Even though the elders are just like every other people in this pack, they are still the ones who stood by me when I became Luna of Wolf Fall. I used my bravery years back to win their trust.
They also aided me in the organization of the first hunt, and now that they are here… “I have no choice but to see them.”
“Tell them I’ll be there shortly,” I passed my message to the guard, walking to my mirror to dress myself properly.
I didn’t want them to see the anger on my face. They need to see the face of the beautiful and amazing Queen who saved Wolf Fall from our enemies.
That’s me.
Once I got the right mood, I left my room and went down to the throne chamber to meet the elders seated, waiting for me.
Putting on a smile, I greeted, “Welcome my elders. It’s so nice to have you in my home.”
“Greetings to you, Queen Chriselda,” they returned with respect, rising and bowing their head.
Once we all sat down, I asked, “What brings you here this morning?”
“Luna, we’re here concerning the hunt,” one spoke on behalf of the others, bringing up the topic.
“The game? Oh, my elders do forgive me. You must be offended with me for not inviting you this time around,” I assumed at once, believing they were upset.
“We had little time to organize. It was important for us to get the game on so that the…”
“We aren’t talking about that, Luna,” another said, swaying his head. “We didn’t come to question you on that.”
“Oh, I see,” I uttered, wondering why they where here then.
That’s when they revealed their true mission to my mansion. “We want to know why the Omega with a wolf and her friend didn’t join the damsels in this second hunt. Why were they excluded?”
On hearing that, my hand went tight on my throne!
They are here for that rat? What is all this nonsense?!
“We saw them sitting among the crowds last night and it didn’t feel right.”
“If I recall correctly, the people said every maiden except Fiona, must take part in this hunt so we can see who truly deserves to be Alpha Allen’s Luna, but both ladies are not present.”
“Why aren’t they in the mansion?”
They threw their questions, slowly getting on my nerves.
Holding back, I responded, “I also don’t know. They were supposed to be here when the others came, but they didn’t show up.”
I lied.
“If they really want to be in this game, they would have showed up at the mansion yesterday, and everyone would have seen them taking part in last night’s fight.”
“But if you said they didn’t come here, how come they were spotted leaving the mansion the same time every other maidens were present?” One elder questioned, shocking me.
“What? I… I don’t understand,” I pretended, staring at the old man.
He then points at the old woman at his right and said, “She saw them leaving the mansion with her own eyes.”
“Indeed, my Queen. They didn’t actually leave but stayed close by,” the old lady shared, increasing my anger.
“If you say they didn’t show up then why were they leaving your mansion? I’d have said they had no interest in the hunt if they didn’t come, but they were outside, waiting.”
You old crooked animal. I wish you will just drop dead right now!
She has spoilt it all for me!
Now they were expecting answers from me, believing I did something. I didn’t know what to say due to the stress in my brain, so I ended up venting out. “Heavens! Fine, they came!”
They all stared at me in shock.
“So it’s true?”
“Why didn’t you allow them in?”
“I drove those two bad-mannered girls away! I don’t need such ladies to pass bad examples to my people. Look at the way they have been casting themselves around, fighting up and down!” I pointed out, giving my reason for kicking them out.
But It seems these old wolves had something covering their senses!
They were supporting those girls!
“Are you talking about the fight between Evolet and Fiona?” one asked, chuckling.
“My Queen, that fight shows nothing negative about that Omega but a clear truth to what the people have been pointing out. That fight showed us that Evolet never lost her match because Fiona cheated.”
Goodness! I can’t take this.
Everything today seems to be going in the wrong direction.
“In fact, that girl got to show us a different side of herself despite having difficulty unleashing her beast.”
“Let’s not forget that she was the one who stopped that Alpha Werecat from bringing war on us. Our own guards committed a crime and she solved it along with her wolf. I mean… no one could do that, not even our own Sorceress.”
“What about last night? Are we going to ignore their battle with the Vampire Queen?”
They all smiled and began to speak of yesterday’s heroic act by those girls, painting Evolet as a warrior Goddess sent from above to help Wolf Fall.
And the more they speak of that weak Omega, the more I see… I see Violet in her!
She’s just like her. The same praises and attention!
The Luna sent from above.
I hate hearing things like that!
What about me?!
I’m the one who made Wolf Fall the most popular and powerful pack it is today! I deserve all these praises!
The elders told me to put aside my complain and take them back.
“This isn’t just our request but the people’s. They have gone to the net to make so many demands that you yourself can not turn away from.”
“What do you mean?” I asked, hovering my eyes from one elder to another.
That’s when an elderly man handed his phone to one of the guards, who brought it to me to show exactly what they were saying.
I was shocked!
The people of Wolf Fall were throwing a debate between Evolet and that friend of hers, craving to see who among the two will take my throne.
One called Evolet Wolf Fall’s next Luna and said the game should be canceled!
“Either we see her in the games or the Queen cancels the hunt and make Evolet Alpha Allen’s bride. She’s… Queen material?” My body shivered at the comment of someone.
It got a lot of support!
The guard took the phone from me when he noticed how my mood had changed.
“You need to do one Queen Chriselda. It’s best you bring those girls back into the hunt and make this fight a fair one or do what the majority wants,” the elders tabled, rising to their feet.
They bowed and soon left me alone in my throne room to think about this. But I don’t want to think of anything!
“ARGHHHH!” I roared, throwing my throne to the ground!
The guards didn’t dare to draw closer to me. I could no longer focus or compose myself again.
“Evolet! You forbidden brat! You can not take over me!” I stormed, puffing out steam.
This is the time that I need Thelma more and she has chosen to stay in her chamber like the dead in the grave!
“I need her help,” I groaned, storming out of the room to see her.
On my way, I met Allen coming.
He was looking angry, heading straight at my direction.
Before I could calm myself and ask what the problem was… “I told you, didn’t I, mother?!” He grabbed my arm strongly, venting his anger at me!
“Allen, what is wrong with you?!”
“No, what is wrong with you?!” He threw back the question disrespectfully!
“You are the one who noted all the names of the damsels for this hunt. You told me to make sure everything goes well, yet you removed Evolet and her friend just because you don’t like that girl!” He pulled my arm hard, forgetting his manners.
“I asked you yesterday why she was sitting there in the crowds and what did you say? She’s not welcome. And thanks to your decision, Wolf Fall thinks I took out her name because of what happened that time!”
“ALLEN!” I exclaimed when my son pushed me aside.
He was furious with me.
“Thanks a lot, your Highness.” He glared and walked out on me.
Now this was getting out of hand. It feels like a storm is about to take place or something disastrous is about to fall on me!
“Thelma,” I gasped, rushing up the stairs to meet my sorceress.
I need her advice.
What am I to do?
