EVOLET
“She did that?” Mom asked, frowning her face.
We didn’t head back home because we were thinking of a new way to get back into the mansion. We met Mom coming down to the arena with other pack members, since it was afternoon.
“Yeah, she just kicked Evolet out so rudely. You need to see the hate in her eyes,” Derby shared, describing the Queen’s demeanor.
I stood there with my back against a tree, watching them while glancing at the arena.
My focus was on that pendant. I need it to stop Chriselda and Thelma from monitoring my location. But it can only be possible if I’m inside.
“That ugly wrinkled woman! She’ll pay for this,” Mom groaned, pulling closer to me.
“Don’t you worry, Eve. We’ll think of something.”
“I hope it’s one that involves ruining that woman’s face, because I want a piece of her flesh in my claws,” Trent vented right on Derby’s shoulder, still raging over the Queen’s words.
Cadell laughed at his anger and said, “Welcome to the club, Pretty boy.”
That made Trent glare at him.
I giggled and said to Mom, “We’ll think of a way for sure. For now…” I directed my gaze at the arena. “Let’s head inside and watch the game.”
They all agreed and we joined the people.
“Hey, isn’t that Evolet?”
“Why isn’t she in the hunt?”
“She’s among the damsels. Isn’t she supposed to be in the mansion?”
Anyone who laid their eyes on me, murmured over my presence in the midst of the crowds.
I had to act like I didn’t hear them while following Mom and the others, but it’s exactly what I want from them.
There’s a chance that the people’s voice might force Queen Chriselda to put me in the game. I am looking forward to that before the today’s game comes to an end.
We took our seat at the front row, waiting for the event to begin.
Derby noticed how most of the people looked at us and asked me in a whisper, “Are you seeing this?”
“For sure. Just act cool, okay?” I patted her on the hand with a smile.
Just then, Queen Chriselda came out with Alpha Allen to begin the event. Their appearance got the people cheering out loudly, raising their voices to the heavens.
Allen, who did the opening, froze at a certain point when he saw me sitting among the crowds. His eyes went large, making him lose his focus.
I sat there calmly, while looking straight at the Alpha.
His conduct changed. He no longer had his cheerful smile but a frown, starting the game without any excitement.
The people cheered without noticing, but Queen Chriselda sensed her son’s sudden behavior and sat him down on the throne, trying to figure out what the problem was.
When Allen’s eyes came directly at my point, Queen Chriselda saw me.
She glowered deeply at my direction while I rolled my gaze off mother and son, pleased with the Alpha’s uneasiness.
“Goddess, make this work. Get me back into the hunt. I need to solve this problem,” I prayed within, reaching for my necklace.
That’s when I felt Cadell’s head on my lap. He could sense my trouble.
I smiled and ran my hand on his head, feeling much better.
The game soon began with the damsels going at each other.
Their fighting skills showed the girls were more advanced and ready that the first battle. They weren’t here to play anymore.
The people were enjoying the games except my family and I. I noticed Alpha Allen wasn’t on his seat any more. Only his mother was there, and she was up to no good.
I saw her talking to a guard, looking at my direction.
“Damn it!” I groaned, patting Mom and Derby.
They both looked at me and I sneakily alerted them of the Queen’s plan. “She wants to get rid of us.”
“Seriously?” Derby gasped and turned to see the eyes of the guard on the both of us. “Ah Geez! The Luna is onto us.”
“Luna my foot. Has she forgotten that we also have a right to this place?” Mom grumbled at this.
“Here in Wolf Fall, it doesn’t apply to her Majesty,” Trent said, staring at the guard.
Cadell drew nearer to me and said, “She’s aiming at you and Derby. Seems she has no clue that Agnes is your mother.”
“Okay, that means she can stay while Derby and I need to make a move?” I asked, seeing the guard leaving while Queen Chriselda smirked at us, dropping her attention back on the fight.
“No, you two need to stay until the game ends. There’s a chance that the people might say something about your absence or Allen might step out and do something. That’s if he has the spine to go against his mother,” Cadell said, looking around.
“But if none of that happens, you’ll have to make the move yourself,” he added, looking right at me.
I understood his plan and felt unhappy. I began to pray for one of the two options to work out, than for me to step out and make a scene like I care about that creepy Alpha.
“Trent and I will handle the guards. Just stay here,” he said, signaling Trent.
Kitty nodded and immediately got off Derby, following Cadell out of the arena.
Mom and Derby asked about their sudden movement and I signaled them to stay put. “They want to buy us some time,” I shared, leaning into my seat.
The battle kept on going.
Allen wasn’t back from wherever he had strolled off to and there was no sign of guards coming, thanks to Cadell and Trent. Queen Chriselda kept glancing at my point, slowly losing her focus on the game.
She made me her area of concentration.
As the evening drew nearer and the game pulled closer to the end, I felt my hand getting sweaty just thinking of the third option Cadell gave to me.
Allen was back but didn’t say a thing to his mother, and the people around me showed no sign either.
“Looks like I have no choice,” I sighed, breathing in and out.
While preparing myself, I began to pick a familiar scent streaming into my nostril. The stench took my mind off the main plan, causing me to shudder at this smell.
“Please tell me I’m mistaking?” I hovered around, sniffing the air.
As I was looked around, something caught my attention from the other side of the large stadium, in the midst of the crowds.
It was far but my vision was quick to zoom in and spot… “Scarlet?” I gasped, recognizing the Vampire Queen in our midst!
“What’s she doing here?” I uttered, gaining both Derby and Mom’s attention.
“What?” they had asked, looking at me confusingly.
“What is it, Eve?”
“We have a problem,” I said, still staring at Scarlet.
She didn’t see me but had her attention on both the Queen and Alpha. It was obvious that she has made Wolf Fall her next target.
She wants to bring the pack down!
Just as I suspected, Scarlet boldly jumped into the battleground, causing a scene at the arena. Everyone began to yell at her for interrupting the game, demanding to know who she was.
“What nonsense is this?!” Chriselda sparked, rising to her feet. “How dare you interrupt this event!”
“GET OUT OF THERE!”
“SHE’S INSANE! LET THE DAMSELS HANDLE HER!” Everyone yelled out, venting their anger on the Vampire Queen. But they don’t know the danger they’re about to face.
“Who’s that?” Derby asked, unable to recognize Scarlet.
That’s when I grabbed their hands and said, “You two need to leave this place.”
“Huh?” They both looked at me, puzzled.
I faced them and said, “That’s no ordinary woman. She’s…”
“WOLF FALL WILL MEET THEIR NEW QUEEN, AFTER TONIGHT!” Scarlet announced loudly, making out a loud irritating cry!
Her screech forced us all to cover our ears, disgusting us with the disturbing noise she made.
And just then, from above, vampires came flying down into the arena to attack the people of Wolf Fall!
This was unexpected!
“GUARDS!” Alpha Allen roared as he dived in to protect his mother by fighting off the vampires.
The people began struggling with these flying bats who looked two times stronger than the last time we encountered them.
They were more ferocious!
“They are back?!” Mom uttered in shock, bending Derby and I under the seats.
We had to stay low, looking for a way out.
“Evolet!” Derby yelled out my name suddenly and pushed me forward to the ground!
A Vampire swooshed pass me from above.
When I turned to see, it grabbed Derby!
“No!” I roared, getting off my feet to go after the creature.
But the Vampire didn’t make it too far.
As the Bat struggled with a difficult Derby, Trent swiftly came out of nowhere and pulled the Vampire down to the ground, saving her!
He went rough on the paled skin creature, ripping the wings off and forcing the vampire to run off with a bloody back!
“Let’s move,” Cadell said from behind, grabbing Mom and I out of the blue.
As they made their move, about taking us away from the arena, I felt my wolf drawing me back to Scarlet just like the last time.
I turned over and saw her fighting with the damsels, who tried to go up against her. She was rough on the girls and I feared for them.
Troubled, I said to Cadell quickly, “Put me down.”
Pervy Wolf looked into my eyes when I made that request and immediately understood where this was going. He didn’t look pleased but obeyed.
“Just be careful,” he said, placing me down and rushing out with Mom, Trent and Derby.
“Evolet, what are you doing?!” I heard Mom and Derby question before they were taken out.
But I have to do this.
Facing the battleground, I saw Scarlet making her way to Queen Chriselda and Allen. The Alpha now had a large army of Vampires attacking him and his guards, while trying to shield the Luna.
I really wanted something bad to happen to Chriselda, but knowing it might not go well for my own plan… “Fine,” I groaned, rushing ahead to help.
I ran my fists into the faces of the Vampires that came my way. Since I couldn’t unleash my power, I had to take note of my surrounding, fighting any demon bat that tried to attack me or any pack member ahead of me.
Once my path was cleared, I dived into the battleground and swiftly grabbed the sword of an unconscious guard, aiming it right at Scarlet instantly.
The Vampire Queen, who was surrounded again by the stubborn damsels who refused to back down, caught the sword with her hand, and turning to my direction.
When she saw me, her gaze went wide, showing how shocked she was.
She suddenly pulled out a sinister smile and said, unleashing a dark magic that blasted the girls off her side, “I have been waiting for you, Sorceress. This time around you can’t take my powers from me!”
How did she get it back?
“I know I took it away. Did she go back to refill herself?” I suspected.
She released her power at me and I dodged quickly, avoiding her attack.
I carefully drew closer to Scarlet, who kept mistaking me for Thelma, making sure she doesn’t hit me with her new found magic.
But I look nothing like that old hag!
“You won the last time, but I’ll be the victor in this fight!” She said, aiming the sword back at me.
When I saw this, I immediately caught it and used the weapon to reflect her own attack on her, which she averted easily.
“Leave!” I ordered the damsels who were close, planning on getting back into the fight.
“No, we aren’t running away!”
“This is our fight too!” They claimed, fired up once more.
But they ate their words when Scarlet almost took them out with her. I had to intervene by using the sword to stop her spell from hitting the girls.
But the energy of Scarlet’s power broke the silver sword, forcing the maidens to flee.
She laughed in mockery and said to me, “Give up, Sorceress. You won’t win.”
At this point, I felt like pulling my necklace off to face her, but the risk was just too high.
Still, I was sure I could handle her.
“Scarlet, I’ve told you before. I am not Sorceress Thelma. My name is Evolet,” I said, drawing closer to her.
She scoffed at me and stretched out her hand, releasing a chain aura that surrounded me.
From the way she controlled her hand, I assumed she was trying to pull me in with her powers, but nothing was happening.
“Cadell,” I remembered what happened when Sorceress Thelma poured that potion on me that very day. It has to be the necklace. It neutralizes any form of magic or spell from harming me.
Since Scarlet haven’t noticed, I had to play along and fake captivity, drawing closer to the Vampire Queen.
“And I’ve told you that I can’t be deceived. I know it’s you,” she said with confidence, taking me back the chin.
With a grin, she shared her plan, “After killing you, I will take yours and the Queen’s head all around to show every creature who the new ruler… WHAT?!”
Scarlet gazed to the side where the throne was and froze. I turned my head and saw Sorceress Thelma using her powers to attack the Vampires from harming Allen and Chriselda.
She was looking weak and pale!
“How’s this possible? If that’s the Sorceress then..” She looked at me, still in shock.
“Is that enough to show you the truth?” I uttered, moving amidst her chain force.
That startled Scarlet when she realized I was pretending.
“What exactly are you?!” She drew back, staring at me!
“Scarlet,” I called calmly, putting on a smile. “I’ve told you this before. I am not the sorceress, neither am I your enemy. I want to help you out of the rage you’re feeling, and the pain you are dwelling in.”
I stretched out my hand to show my seriousness, while she looked on.
“Give me a chance to help you, Scarlet, please.”
Despite my words, the Vampire Queen frowned at this and said, “I rather die than allow myself to trust a werewolf. I don’t care if you are good or not, you are all the same to me.”
Abruptly, she attacked me with speed, throwing her fist at my face.
I moved aside, averting her attack, and that only spiked her hate even more.
“Is that how it’s going to be? Alright then. Maybe this will sit you straight.” I took my stance and launched at Scarlet, going head to head with the Queen.
From her fighting skills, I could tell that she came fully prepared for anything. But in my eyes, she’s still unmatched for me.
Scarlet and I went rough, battling and tossing each other around.
She roared out in frustration, flashing her red glowing eyes at me. Her speed increased, as she attacked and tried to get a scratch on me.
Seeing this, I launched several strikes right in her stomach and her face, forcing Scarlet to her knees in pain.
She coughed out blood and lifted her head, growling at me.
She wasn’t ready to back down.
“I will kill you. I’LL KILL YOU!” She roared, forcing her wings out from her back!
Her hands glowed, emanating her red aura again.
She screamed and tried to grab me when out of nowhere, a silver chain came around her neck, holding Scarlet back.
I was surprised and thought the guards came to pin the Queen down, but I was wrong.
It was Derby!
She stomped the chain, forcing Scarlet to the ground.
“EVE!” She called, tossing the other end to me.
I grabbed it quickly, only for Scarlet to start flapping her wings, trying to lift us both into the air and break loose.
Her strength had increased. I could feel my body slowly levitating from the ground.
“Not this time!” Derby’s sparked. She unleashed her wolf strength and pulled the Queen down with force.
She fell hard to the ground, lifting her head right at Derby’s point.
When I saw this, I immediately warned her, “Don’t let her get close!”
Scarlet used her magic to break the chain and attacked Derby!
Since her wolf was active, Derby was able to fight back without fear, proving to Scarlet that she wasn’t an ordinary wolf she could mess with.
“Evolet!” Derby called, kicking Scarlet’s face and sending her to my direction.
To end this fight before it gets out of hand, I carefully reached for my necklace and unhooked the wolf a little, feeling my power circulating my body.
When Scarlet came close, I grabbed her neck and slammed her to the ground with my strength, ceasing the magic in her.
She felt it. Her widened eyes showed it while breathing out heavily.
I carefully hooked my necklace back and said to her, “Go.”
Scarlet stared. Her anger had subsided.
When my hand came off her neck, she immediately rolled away and flew into the sky, forcing her vampires to retreat.
I watched, feeling upset with her deep rage and distrust for me.
She needs someone to pull her out from the darkness she’s dwelling in.
She’s lost.
“Damn! You should have killed her,” Derby frowned, looking at the sky.
I smiled at my tough bestie and pulled her close, roughening her hair. “I thought Trent took you away?”
“He did, but I came back to help my best friend. Can’t leave you after my promise,” she said, bumping my arm.
I chuckled at Derby but stopped when I saw eyes on us, especially the Queen and Alpha.
Our intervention to the problem had marveled the people who where still in the arena.
They were amazed.
The sight of this pleased my heart.
This is the sign I was looking for. The Goddess used Scarlet to make a way for me!
I looked towards a shocked Chriselda and met her staring at us in astonishment.
“Evolet, let’s go,” Derby said, pulling me away due to the onlookers.
The dread all over her was satisfying.
She knows she can’t do anything now.
She has no choice.
