EVOLET
“Seriously, did you have to make yourself the talk of the pack again?!” Mom vented out, attending to my arms.
When I arrived back home, the first thing that welcomed me from my stroll was a video of my fight with Fiona on Mom’s phone, right in my face.
“You said you were going out for a walk, and in just an hour, Evolet has become the trending topic again!”
“It wasn’t my fault. It’s Fiona that caused it,” I defended myself, frowning my face. “She openly challenged me and I clearly told her to go back home. But she didn’t agree. She saw me as her easy target to vent her frustration on and I wasn’t going to accept that.”
“Narrating the incident won’t change the fact that everyone would start talking about you again. Then that crazy Alpha would come down here to pester us with his madness! Oh Goddess!” My Mom wasn’t happy with this.
She was massaging my arms from the hits after watching the video. I could see the concern that laid within her gaze, as she stroke every part of my hand, just to make sure I was fine.
“Does it hurting badly?” She asked, touching the areas I took those strokes.
But how do I tell her that I’m not hurt? I’m perfectly fine. But she wouldn’t understand that. She doesn’t know about my gift.
“Not too much,” I answered, lowering my head down.
The room went silent. Mom kept on attending to me, checking all the areas she felt was hurting me.
Cadell and Trent were present. All they could do was watch Mom and I in our silent moment, saying nothing. But they mostly had their eyes on me, showing their deep concern for my health.
Lifting my head to look at her, I said, “I had no choice.”
She paused, gazing back at me.
“She was insulting our family, insulting you, insulting our status… I got so mad and attacked her. I just wanted to silence her big mouth once and for all,” I said, expressing myself to my mother.
“You were right about the kind of person she was. I… failed to see it because of my desire to have friends. I was blinded by her words and followed my heart, exploring the outside when you kept warning me time and time again to quit it… I was wrong… And I’m sorry,” I apologized, feeling heavy in my heart.
My eyes were getting teary from just telling her that. We hardly share things like this, and that’s one thing that kind of kept us apart from each other.
Mom stared into my gaze, unable to say anything. She lowered her head down and patted my arm. Then she said, “It’s okay, Evolet. I’m also… also sorry for everything. I got carried away with my role as your mother and… I own you an apology as well.”
“Mom.” I held her hands, touched to see her saying something different from her usual response.
She forced a smile and said, “I’m not angry with you for attacking Fiona. I’m just worried about your safety. You’re my girl and anytime you leave my sight to do something risky… I get troubled, angry, unhappy.”
She sighed, swaying her head.
“But I can see my girl isn’t the little troublemaker of old. She’s now grown up.” She cupped my face, caressing my cheek. “You’re my daughter, and i’m always proud of the steps you take outside this walls… As long as they are safe.”
“Mom,” I chortled, placing my hand on her lap.
“But as long as you are still with me, you’re still under my control. Until the right time comes, then I’ll let go,” she said, referring to my marriage and settlement stuff.
Well, let’s see how long it takes before someone makes his move. And by someone, I mean… you know who.
“I won’t lie, I really enjoyed the fight,” Mom confessed, laughing out.
She talked about Fiona’s face and how it looked funny to her. “She deserves every beating given to her.”
“Yep, every one of them.” I supported.
“And the way you took those attacks was like… Where did you learn that from?” She lifted her brow, looking curious.
“Um… during the hunt when the Gamma was teaching us, I kind of invented that technique.”
“Hmm, not bad. I really love your flow,” Mom praised, pleasing my heart.
She suggested that I get into bed to rest while she prepares something nice for me to eat. “Consider it my reward for putting tears on both Fiona and her mother’s eyes.”
“Mom!” I laughed, dragging myself into bed.
She left the room, leaving the guys and I alone. And once the coast was clear, Cadell and Trent shifted into their human form.
Trent went to shut the door while Cadell came at me, wrapping his arms around my body in a tight embrace.
“That’s my girl,” he said, squeezing me closer.
My heart glowed on hearing his words. I lifted my head to have a look at his face, and said, “I have the best teacher after all.”
“I’m so proud of myself then,” he laughed, planting a kiss on my forehead.
A sweet reward, just what I need.
Trent came over to hug me as well. He couldn’t help himself but comment on how I dealt with Fiona. “It was mind blowing. What a fight.”
“It was also sweet… like revenge,” Cadell pointed, smirking at Trent and I.
We laughed, making more jest of Fiona, until Trent left the room to make sure Mom doesn’t come in to see us.
Well, he clearly left the room for Cadell and I to be alone, when he noticed how Pervy Wolf kept caressing himself on me.
I don’t blame Kitty Cat. He doesn’t want the big bad wolf pouncing on him.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” Cadell asked, taking hold of my hands to check my arms.
I assured him that I was fine and well, but he didn’t want to fully accept that information. “I wish I had snuck out to follow you and Derby. I was tempted to do so, but your mother wasn’t heading to bed anytime soon,” he frowned.
“Still, I’m glad you handled the situation like a true boss,” he praised, kissing my hands.
I smiled at Cadell, pulling myself into his arms to be closer to him. He carefully wrapped his arms around my body, and patted me gently.
It’s good to be back home for a nice relaxing moment, after teaching your enemy a lesson they won’t forget.
