CHAPTER 71

ALPHA ALLEN
I mean every word I said to Evolet. My feelings are true. I do love and want her as my Queen.
But she’s making a mockery of me. She thinks I’m mad!
It’s thanks to her that I’m like this. I was never obsessed about someone before. Only women drool over me like crazy. But now, I’ve been cursed by Evolet to crawl and beg for her attention.
She has made me a fool out for her heart. A fool who’s madly in love with the same woman I tried to get rid of!
If only I had waited patiently before reacting, by now I wouldn’t be in the mess. Evolet would still be at the arena, struggling to be my Luna. And my coming to the arena would be about her only. Then every night and day, she’d be by my side, in my arms… and in my bed, giving me the satisfaction I need.
If only I could turn back the hand of times.
“Evolet… My Evolet,” I sang her name, leaning against the wall in my Beta’s room.
He stayed silent, watching his Alpha crave for an Omega he never liked before. And I hope he’s just looking and not doing more than that.
“What did I tell you about being around Evolet, Dean?” I asked, turning over to face him.
Dean was still in his wheelchair, sitting in the corner with his head bowed. He didn’t dare to utter any word after disobeying my command.
“Wherever you see her… No matter the location…” I drew nearer, causing him to shiver in his seat. “You are to keep your distance away from her. Wasn’t that my instruction?” I asked, placing my hand on his shoulder.
He gulped down and responded with a trembling voice, “Alpha… I… I didn’t know she… she was here. I just saw her passing and thought she needed my…”
“Did she call out to you?!” I squeezed his shoulder, causing him pains. “Did she call out to you, dean?!”
Dean groaned, unable to stop me from torturing him. His hands just shook, falling back on the arm of his wheel chair. He wasn’t fully recovered from that Rogue’s attack. His bones still ached him when someone hits a part of his body. And I made that my weapon, to deal with him for trying to touch my Evolet behind my back.
“Alpha… I’m sorry,” He begged, lifting his hands again, but nothing.
“I warned you, Dean. If you want my forgiveness for what you did, then start by taking your eyes off Evolet. Stay away from her!” I pushed him into the corner, leaving him trembling.
He kept his head down and said, “Alpha, you know I wouldn’t do anything to offend you? I told you this before. I was only trying to stop her from snooping around. But I lost myself and followed my urges.”
“That’s why you’re like this today.” I pointed at his state, so he’d remember. “Weak and pathetic! To the extent that the people have almost forgotten that Wolf Fall has a Beta,” I mocked, scoffing at him.
Dean slowly lifted his eyes at me and said, “You didn’t even give me the chance to tell you what she was doing that night. You are allowing that woman to take over your senses.”
“It’s the same way you felt when you tried to force yourself on her, Dean. So, don’t lecture me because I don’t care.” I smirked, opening my arms wide to demonstrate it. “I don’t want to know what she was doing or were she heading to. As long as I have feelings for her, you will keep your dirty paws to yourself, otherwise…”
My hand carefully fell on his head, clasping it with my fingers with my nails digging into his skin.
He hissed, squeezing the arm of his chair. That grip alone is enough to pass the warning to my Beta.
He gave out a heavy sigh and said, “I’ve heard you. I… I won’t look at Evolet any more. Even if I see her on the way, I’ll pretend she doesn’t exist.”
“Better,” I smiled, patting him on the head.
He was uncomfortable with my order. I know he still wants to get closer to Evolet despite what he went through. But I’ll add to his pains, if he disobeys me. I’ll forget he’s my Beta and end him for good.
Soon, I left Beta Dean in his room and decided to head back to the arena to watch the game, just to make my mother think I care. On getting close, I heard the crowds cheering out loudly, singing one person’s name. “Fiona?” I picked, drawing closer to the door that led out to mine and my mother’s seat.
Without stepping out fully, I stood at the door and saw my mother with Fiona at the center of the arena, cupping her face before the people.
The sight of this gave me my answer immediately.
Fiona… She won the hunt! The game is finally over and Fiona emerged out of the battle as the winner of the Luna hunt.
This means she’s going to be my wife. But… but I don’t want that. I don’t want her as my Queen!
If a different damsel had won the hunt, I would have found a way to manage them, but Fiona… She’s mother’s favorite and it irritates me.
“Fiona doesn’t deserve that title. That spot belongs to Evolet.” I held the door tightly, glaring at Fiona who wept innocently, embracing my mother before all like some ideal daughter-in-law.
My mother announced an after party to celebrate Fiona’s win, assuring them that I’d be present to receive her as my Luna in their presence.
The thought of it provoked me. I furiously stormed back to my room to vent out my frustration on the furniture.
“This is unfair, Goddess! This is unfair!!” I roared out, kicking the bed out of my path.
I sat on a chair to ease my rage, thinking about my mother and her threat. Even though I’m the Alpha, she still controls my life like I’m a child. She’s the Queen after all. The people’s beloved Luna Chriselda, who brought the werewolf kingdom peace after the late Luna’s death.
I can’t challenge her otherwise I’d lose.
I have done a lot of things in the past that didn’t require her decision. She didn’t even mind! But when it came to finding me a mate, she made it her goal to frustrate my life and stand against my choice.
She broke her own promise and refused Evolet when I selected her. And If I dare to go against her wish, she’ll disown and take my position away from me.
“You can do what ever you want, mother. Make Fiona your ideal daughter, because I will never accept her wholeheartedly. She is not my true Queen. Evolet is.”
