CHAPTER 63

EVOLET
If leaving Wolf Fall was the best solution, I would have agreed to the idea in a heartbeat and find a way to convince Mom to listen. But after seeing those dreams in just one day, I can boldly say that the late Queen wants my help in putting Queen Chriselda in her right place for good.
For years, I grew up thinking Luna Violet was attacked by the creatures she showed love and care to, believing Queen Chriselda took over her place for the betterment of every Werewolf.
That’s what she fed the whole Werewolves, making them think she’s a heroine and a true Queen.
But everything is a lie. The whole story is nothing but a fallacy!
If you turn on the TV, you’ll see stations from other Wolf Packs sparing some moment to talk about Chriselda and her bravery in the past. But we have all been leaving in lies for ages.
She is no hero, but a murderer. She killed the late Queen out of greed.
And now I can clearly see that she has been using the late Luna to hide her crime, by always reminding the people to seek blessings from her.
Phony! And she’s accusing Cadell of being a monster when she’s the ultimate beast herself.
“Even if we haven’t met in person, it’s a great honor to help carry out your wish, Luna Violet. I will do my best to let the whole world know who the real enemy is. And… I’ll give Cadell the trust and support he deserves. I promise,” I made a vow wholeheartedly, feeling the necklace around me.
.
Ever since that incident took place, Alpha Allen had increased the number of guards around the forest and other entrances of the pack. Wolf Fall almost looked like a prison ground, just because the great Queen wants to show her superiority and fake love to the people, by claiming the Rogue is hiding in our midst.
“If you see anything suspicious, don’t hesitate to report,” she announced one morning on the TV, alerting everyone.
It was Derby and I that watched it together before Mom’s arrival from her night shift. The announcement was irritating to my eardrums. When Mom heard it, she hissed, seeing it as the Royal family’s everyday drama.
Despite the matter on ground, the Luna hunt didn’t stop. And just like Derby said, the remaining days in just two weeks was all about the games.
With Derby around, Mom didn’t mind if we both went to the arena to watch it together at night, only if I promise to return home early.
We witnessed the games organized by the Queen and noticed the unhappiness on the damsels faces. None of them liked the changes. It felt uncomfortable and way easy for them to lose.
Only Fiona found it satisfying because in every battle, she kept winning with ease, jubilating with pride.
The Queen is clearly favoring her. I’ve seen how she cheers for Fiona, making the other girls feel hopeless when going up against her.
But the person Fiona is trying to impress doesn’t even look at her. His eyes are always scanning the arena until it falls at my direction! Repulsive!
When I noticed this disgusting habit from Alpha Allen the second time, I began visiting the games with my boys, Cadell and Trent. Yeah, their presence brought discomfort to the Alpha. Mostly Cadell’s.
Pervy Wolf would keep his arm around me, just to pass a warning to Allen. And whenever the Alpha sees this, he would look away in anger or walk out before the game even ends.
It’s always fun to see that pervert getting mad, but more tempting when Cadell starts flirting with me.
Despite the crowds around us, this crazy man would carry out risky acts on me! Like one of the nights, he didn’t care about Derby and Trent who where sitting next to us. He had his hand running up my lap, sending tingling vibrations all around my body.
Because of that, I had to force Trent to sit with Cadell while I stayed with Derby.
You should have seen the way Cadell eyed Trent with a death stare. You’d think he’s about to strangle the poor guy, but no, he’s just angry!
And I like it that way.
Haha!
.
The final game would be in three days time. Only six damsels were left for the finale. Many had their mind set on it, but my own mind wasn’t there. I was thinking about myself and my hidden ability.
I finally have a wolf, and it’s a special one.
I thought of all the years people mocked me for failing to summon my beast. It made me so sad and jealous when other girls of my age would shift into their wolf, howling to the night with so much desire within their heart… I’ve always wanted to experience that feeling for long. It has been my greatest dream.
And now that I know the truth… “Please, Cadell. I promise to be a good girl,” I begged, running my fingers on my neck temptingly, trying to get him to accept my request.
We where alone that night. Mom left for work as usual, Derby had an important family matter to attend to, then Trent used this opportunity to return to his pack for something urgent, leaving Cadell and I behind.
I decided to use this chance to do something new in my life, but this stubborn old man didn’t fall for my act.
He strongly disagreed, reminding me of the danger that would befall us, if Sorceress Thelma picks my scent. “Instead of wasting such talent on something that will kill you, how about you entertain me in the room, huh?” He smirked, drawing closer. “It’s just the two of us. No one to interrupt,” he winked, biting down on his lower lip.
Since he refused my request, I refused to give him any entertainment. “It’s best we call it a night and sleep, because you aren’t getting anything from me,” I said, snapping my finger at Cadell.
He scoffed at me and said, adjusting his jacket, “Fine then. I guess I’ll have to head out to work. Can’t keep my customers waiting.”
“Work? Since when did you get a job?” I dimmed my eyes at Cadell, who was making his way to the door, giving me no answer.
“My secret job, of course. I’m the boss of my own business and the customers love me.”
“Secret job my foot. The only job you’re good at is measuring the shapes and sizes of a woman’s body! Maybe you should open a store and start designing wears for women. It will fit you good,” I mocked, hoping he would get annoyed and change his mind.
Well, it did the opposite.
“That’s not a bad idea. Why didn’t I think of this before?” He smiled, walking up to me and grabbing my hand for a handshake. “You are very smart, Evolet. You have shown me my true calling. I will make sure I start tonight. Thank you.”
“Are you crazy?! I was only joking!” I exclaimed, watching Cadell race to the door with so much excitement.
Now I felt like an idiot for putting such thought in his head. What if he succeeds in getting a place to start this mad business? He’s Cadell for heaven’s sake! I fear he’ll get so many ladies to surround him, showing off their bodies while he’s touching and feeling the hidden parts, and those witches will want more and… “No, I don’t want that. Too much women means no more Cadell and Evolet time. Argh! I’m so stupid!”
Quickly, I stopped Cadell, using emotion to trap him down. “It’s okay. You can go. I’ll be all alone in this house with no one to talk to. Maybe I’ll call Trent and see if he can come over. I’m sure he’ll stay with me in my room or take me to his pack.” I sniffed, turning my back on Cadell and pulling out my phone, so he’d think I’m serious.
“I’m already missing my Kitty Cat. I bet he’s missing me as well.”
“Give me that!” Cadell yanked the phone out of my hand and placed it in his pocket. He frowned at me and said, pointing at my face, “I know an act when I see one. Still, you are not calling anybody to stay with you.”
“Does that mean you’ll…”
“No,” he rejected before I could finish the question.
Desperate, I grabbed Cadell’s arm and begged him again. “It’s just for tonight, Cadell! You know how long I’ve waited for this moment. It’s going to be outside Wolf Fall now that the barrier is gone. A far distance makes a slow sorceress. Before she finds me, you’d have placed my necklace back and cleared my trail. And besides…” I leaned closer, whispering into his ear, “I’m trying to fulfil one of my promises to you.”
When he heard that, his eyes came wide. He asked, looking at me excitedly, “Really? Are you going to put on the lingerie and entertain me in secret? Now you’re speaking my language.” He grinned.
This man! He will never change. Is that the only thing he remembers?
“No, silly.” I poked his nose. “I meant the adventure outside Wolf Fall. Remember I promised to follow you when the time is right. Well, tonight is the night, Cadell. I want you to take me to a place you feel your Evolet would be safe. Just the two of us… alone,” I spoke with a seductive tone, taking hold of Cadell’s hand and caressing my lips on it slowly.
He stared at me cunningly, curving his lip into a smirk, and saying, “You start dirty to get what you want from me. But when we get to the point where you’ll have to fulfil your end of the bargain, you play the cat and mouse game.” He chuckled, sounding creepy.
“It’s fine then. I’ll take you to a place where you can unleash your wolf before that old witch picks your scent.”
“Really?” I gasped, getting excited.
But it faded into heat when Cadell said, taking hold of my hand like the way I did his, “And as soon as you get what you want, get ready to entertain me, because I won’t let you off tonight, Eve. I deserve a reward, and I want it this night. Do we have a deal?” He pecked my hand, smirking.
Ah Geez! I should have thought of this before tempting him to agree with my request.
He’s not going to spare me.
