QUEEN CHRISELDA
“Allen, Son… Are you okay?” I asked, drawing closer to him.
We all returned to the mansion a few minutes ago, looking all dull from the visit.
The one who was down the most was my son, Allen. He hasn’t said a word since we left the hospital. And as his mother, I can understand how it feels to see someone who’s close to you, in such a terrible state.
My son is in shock.
That’s why I’m here to help him take away his worry. I’m his mother.
“Talk to me, Allen. Don’t stay quiet,” I said, sitting right next to him with my hand falling on his shoulder.
The moment my hand landed on him; Allen spoke without looking at me. “I don’t know what to do or say anymore. Are we just dealing with a Rogue or an evil spirit?” He asked.
I didn’t even bother to answer that question but ran my fingers in his hair, showing him my support. If only he knows that the beings we’re dealing with are way beyond him. I bet he would lose his confidence as an Alpha in a blink of an eye.
But as his mother, I won’t allow my son to grow weak at heart. He’s my blood.
“I saw the state Dave and the others where in, Mother. Would you believe that when I stood in that room with them… I couldn’t feel their wolves. They laid there like empty vessels! Empty vessels without a wolf! How… How’s that possible?” he asked, swaying his head in confusion.
This is a question I know the answer to, but Allen can’t know about it. Not yet, until I’ve gotten what I deserve.
Thelma told me about their missing wolves and how Dave got the worst punishment. I wasn’t surprised when I heard that from her. After all, we both laid our eyes on the spirit wolf. She’s the only one who can carry out such an act on any Werewolf. That’s why I’m desperate to get her powers.
Imagine me, Queen Chriselda of Wolf Fall, taking away the gifts of every creature that think they can stand against me. I’ll become unstoppable, powerful, strong.
“You can’t hide forever,” I muttered, only for Allen to hear that statement from me. He looked at my face in a puzzle, and I said, caressing his cheek, “That monster can’t hide from us forever. We will get him and make him pay for what he did to Dave and Dean. He will regret ever crossing paths with Wolf Fall’s Alpha.”
There was a smile on my son’s face, even if it wasn’t bright. He felt strong again and decided to focus fully on that Rogue’s case. “I am the Alpha, and this is my pack. That demon will fall at my feet when I get a hold of him.”
“Yes, he will,” I supported, smiling at my son.
Rising to our feet, Allen asked for Thelma. “I noticed how slow she was walking both at the hospital and when we arrived home. Is she okay?”
“She is, son,” I nodded. “Just like you, Thelma is upset with Dave’s condition. She’s looking for a way to help him recover better,” I lied, hiding the real truth from Allen.
After carrying out that ritual, Thelma lost her strength. Her skin became paled and wrinkled, leaving her with no choice but to shield herself with her cloak, hiding her skin.
She went too far in her search, and it affected her in a bad way. “I’ll go and check up on her now.” I drew from him.
“Okay, mother. Good… night,” Allen said, walking out of the living room.
As soon as he left, I rushed out of the room to go and see my Sorceress. She said she would be at the chamber making plans for the search, and that’s where I’m heading to.
But when I arrived there, Thelma didn’t open the door. I knocked four times but got no response. Worried, I forced the door open with my strength and went into the room to find Thelma gasping out for air on the floor!
“Thelma!” I yelled, running up to her.
She was on her knees, struggling to breath. I had to pull her up and into her seat, trying to help her.
This is the first time I’ll be seeing her in this state. What’s wrong with her?
“There… There…” She heaved out, pointing at the table next to her shelf of potions. There was a black bottle with a red string around it. Thelma beckoned me to get it for her.
I immediately grabbed the bottle, opened it and handed it to Thelma, who covered the mouth with her wrinkled lips, gulping whatever was inside.
Once she was done, I saw her paled skin fading back into her real skin color and a few of the wrinkles vanishing. She sighed out heavily, relaxing her back against the seat she was on.
“What happened to you?” I asked, keeping the bottle aside.
Thelma dropped her gaze on me and gave a response, “The ritual carried out took something from me, and it’s because of that Wolf. A part of her afflictions on the Gamma got to me. Now I can’t make use of my powers properly without choking.”
“What?” I gasped, stunned by Thelma’s words. That will explain the pale skin and wrinkles. It was as if she was getting way too old, adding more wrinkles to the once she already had.
“Still…” She pulled herself out of the seat and walked up to a drawer, opening it and bringing out a black pendant. “I was able to craft out the tool before falling weak. This is it,” she said, placing it in my hand.
My eyes shimmered at the jewelry in my palms, curious to know how it works and when to start my search. That’s when Thelma shared with me, saying, “That pendant contains the little glitter you got from the Spirit wolf. When you see it glowing purple, it means the Wolf has activated her power. That way I’ll be able to locate and send an attack on her.”
She closed my palm, passing out a warning. “Do not lose this, Chriselda. This is the only piece that can get you your desire.”
“You should know me by now, Thelma. I am always careful when it comes to things that will benefit me greatly,” I said, carefully placing the jewelry around my neck. “I will protect it with all my life. No one can stop me from achieving my goal. And when I do gain its powers, I’ll give you all the strength you need,” I promised, taking hold of Thelma’s hands.
She smiled but began to cough, rushing up to the black bottle again.
She’s in this state because of that beast. She went too far for my sake and got me the key to a brighter future. Now, it’s up to me to reward her with what she deserves… when I find that wolf.
“What are we going to now, my Queen?” Thelma asked, turning around to face me. “The shield… We can’t create another one like the first.”
“Thelma.” This news didn’t please me one bit.
“I’m sure you remember how hard it was for me to create such a force to pick up that Rogue’s energy. With it gone, we can only depend on that pendant around your neck.”
“But Thelma, what if the enemies learn of this?! It’s going to become a problem for us!” I panicked, thinking of all the dangers that will befall the pack when those creatures learn of the truth.
“Then we’ll have to pray to the goddess to bless us with strength for any battle, my Queen. And pray your pendant lights up quickly, before it becomes too late for Wolf Fall,” She said, pointing at the piece around me.
I held the black ball close, tightening my hand around it.
“It must, Thelma. It must.”
