EVOLET
“Oh my! Where did you get this Cat from?” Mom asked, watching me walk into the house with the little cutie in my arms.
“On my way home,” I lied, so she won’t know that I went into the woods. “He just came up to me and made me his Master,” I added, lifting the Kitty so she’d have a good look at his cuteness and allow me keep him.
I want her to get charmed just like me.
“Isn’t he adorable? I’m going to name him Kitty,” I giggled, hugging the cat.
Mom hummed and said, “All your pets are named after what they are. First you gave this innocent Wolf, Wolfy. Now the cat is Kitty? Waw, mother Evolet in the house.” She smirked, heading for the kitchen.
“You can keep him. As long as they’ll keep you entertained, I’m good.”
“Thank you, Mom,” I appreciated, cuddling the little one close. I think he likes how I play with him because he keeps caressing his face with either my hand or face.
“You’re so cute! Yes you are, my little Kitty,” I played with the cat, only to notice someone glaring at me from the corner.
It was Cadell. And he didn’t look happy with the way I was showering the new member with so much love.
“But he’s cute,” I said in my defense, showing Kitty to Cadell. But he rolled his eyes at me and went into my room.
“Jealous Wolf. First Trent now this innocent Cat.” I stroke Kitty’s hair, slowly going on my knees to drop him down, saying, “Cadell can be stubborn at times, but I’m sure he’s going to love you if you two get to know each other better. How about that?”
“Meow,” Kitty responded, showing his understanding.
Without any other words, he cat walked into the room to see Cadell while I went into the kitchen to see what I can get them to eat. After all, they are my pet.
While I was getting their meal ready with Mom making lunch, I heard Kitty scream out loudly from the room, shocking Mom and I.
“What was that?” Mom asked, looking at me.
Recognizing the screaming kitty’s voice, I ran to my room to check what was wrong. Only for me to open the door and get startled by a terrified Kitty, who jumped right into my hold.
“Kitty, what happened?” I asked, holding him close.
That’s when I looked closely and found Cadell growling at Kitty, with his silver eyes glowing!
“Cadell, what are you doing?” I questioned in surprise, stepping into the room and shutting the door.
Turning around to face him, I was creeped out by Cadell’s human form, pointing directly at the Cat in rage. “Get this animal out of here, Eve! He’s not welcome here.”
“What? No!” I refused, stepping back with Kitty. The little one was petrified. He shivered in my arms, hiding away from Cadell.
“But you were cool with me bringing the cat over. So why the change? What did this poor creature do to you? Just look at his face. You scared out one life from the nine.” I showed Cadell Kitty’s face.
Instead of an apology or iota of sympathy, Cadell growled at the Cat, showing his wolf teeth at the poor creature. And Kitty hissed, struggling to launch his claws at Cadell’s face.
Oh Goddess! I wasn’t expecting this rivalry out of the blue. What am I going to do?
“Send him away, Eve. I don’t like the scent I’m picking from this Cat,” Cadell repeated, flashing his eyes at Kitty. That only made Kitty hiss out angrily.
Having no strength for this sudden battle, I held Kitty close and said to Cadell while taking hold of the knob, ready to leave the room, ” I am not sending Kitty away. He wants to stay with me, and I’m keeping him.”
That made Cadell angry. He puffed into his darkness and vanished out of my sight.
I felt upset with his sudden behavior, wondering if something was wrong with Kitty. But looking at the adorable face of this angel, I was sure nothing was wrong with him. “Don’t mind Cadell. He’s not used to anything Male around me,” I chuckled, pecking Kitty on the head.
He meowed innocently, snuggling in my arms.
“Aww! So adorable! How can anyone get mad at you?” I shrieked, leaving the room.
“I’m sure Cadell will calm down soon. He will come to accept you into the family in no time.”
That’s what I thought, until the next two days. Cadell and Kitty’s fight became intense that I almost ran mad. They refused to get along but chose to fight like the Dog and Cat they were!
Well, I won’t blame Kitty. He has been trying his best to be friendly to Cadell but that Wolf chose Violence!
Yesterday at noon, I was sitting in the living room with Mom watching the TV, when Kitty came laying on my laps comfortably. I was going to pet him on the tummy when Kitty’s body was swept off my laps by Cadell. He dragged Kitty from the tail with his teeth and tossed him to the back of the couch, taking Kitty’s spot on my lap, so I’d pet him.
And the commanding gaze he gave me, pointing at his tummy… Gosh! I felt like smacking him right there! But Kitty came jumping on Cadell, getting into a battle with him.
What about night?
Oh! That was the worst night of my life!
Cadell wouldn’t let Kitty sleep next to me. He kept dragging the poor cat off the bed and right on the cold floor.
He almost forgot that Kitty has learnt how to fight back after all the torment. That’s how I watched Cadell and Kitty wrestling on the floor, shouting!
Mom had yelled multiple times that I should keep them quiet. “Mother Evolet! Tell your children to stay shut!” she had yelled out to me.
“You two stop fighting! God!” I cried, burying myself under my pillow, until the angel of sleep visited and showed me mercy.
Now here we are again. Another fight.
I sat outside the house watching Cadell and Kitty struggle to get my attention. When Kitty tried to impress me by meowing and jumping around, Cadell kicked him away and took the spotlight, trying to do better than him.
All I could do was rub my red eyes tiredly and watch them attack each other again.
“Goddess, show me mercy. Who have I offended?!” I cried, covering my face.
“Maybe the Goddess is finally teaching you a lesson for all your past stubbornness,” I heard Mom respond from behind.
She came and sat next to me, watching the two go at each other like the animals they were. That made her laugh.
“Honestly, it feels like I’m watching two men in a wrestling match,” she laughed, pointing at Kitty who was on Cadell’s back biting him, before Cadell tossed him to the ground, chasing him around.
“Yeah, like two men,” I agreed with Mom on that. If only she knows that the big guy is a full grown man fighting a poor animal.
I would have helped Kitty and kept him away from Cadell, but that will bring the attack my way and I don’t want that!
Besides, it seems Kitty is handling everything like a pro. He’s a brave male Cat. He isn’t afraid of Cadell like the first time. He’s a fighter.
“Won’t you handle them, Mother Evolet?”
“Huh?” I faced my mother, who pointed at Cadell and Kitty, saying, “I’m talking about your children. As a mother, it’s your duty to correct them.”
“You make it sound like I gave birth to them.”
“Well you did. The day you took them in was the day you gave birth to those fighters.”
“Then doesn’t that make you their grandmother?” I dimmed my eyes at Mom.
She went silent at my question and gave me a surprise knock on the head. “Ouch! Mom!”
“That’s how to correct a stubborn child as a mother. Now let this grandmother show you how to straighten this kids,” she said, rising to her feet.
Cadell and Kitty, who were fighting each other, suddenly composed themselves when Mom yelled, “ENOUGH!” They stopped their fight and sat on the ground, looking at her with fear in their eyes!
“Wow. They look like me when Mom shows her scary side.”
For the first time since the beginning of this battle, I could hear birds singing. It felt like freedom!
“Now if you two don’t stop this fight and become friends, I’ll send you two into the woods where you can resume with your Cat and Dog match! My home isn’t a wrestling ground! Got that?!”
Quickly, they both lowered their head, submitting to Mom’s order. I was impressed. Why didn’t she do this sooner? They took two days sleep from me!
“Good. Now Wolfy, hug Kitty,” Mom commanded Cadell.
He sat on the ground and looked at Kitty, rolling his eyes in disgust.
“Hug him, now.” Mom made her voice sound strong, forcing Cadell to do what he didn’t like.
He ended up placing his paw around Kitty, pulling him close for a hug which Kitty accepted sweetly.
“See? Now you’re buddies again. Wasn’t that easy, Eve?” Mom asked, turning to face me. But I saw what Cadell did behind Mom’s back.
He slammed Kitty’s head to the ground, grinning at me.
“Yeah, I see. Thanks Mom.”
“Any time. Now if you don’t mind. This lady is on her way to the market. We’re almost out of spice,” she said, picking up her purse which was next to me.
I didn’t even know it was there.
She patted me on the head and told me to use my motherly fire on both Cadell and Kitty. She keeps forgetting I haven’t given birth yet.
“I’ll see you later. You two, behave,” she said, talking to us three.
Cadell and Kitty kept a straight face until Mom left. Once she was out of sight, they began with round two.
“Forget it,” I groaned, heading into the house to get away from their madness.
I will not be affected, never.
.
Towards the evening, I was getting ready for another fresh bath that will calm my blood pressure from those two.
I was alone in the house with them. Mom had returned with the spices but left for something urgent which she didn’t tell me. I decided to treat myself well, now that those two were asleep.
Well, Cadell fell asleep first before Kitty. I had to place Kitty on my bed to sleep while Cadell stayed on the couch, drifting into dreamland. That gave me the freedom to do breath again.
Stepping into the bathroom, I took off my clothes and got into the bubble warm bath I made, relaxing inside.
“This is the life,” I said lazily, slowly submerging into the water when I heard, “Meow,” from the door. That got me lifting my head to see Kitty watching me.
“Oh, you’re awake?” I said with a smile, seeing him staring.
His tail moved from side to side tilting his head to have a good look at my face.
“Do… do you want to join me?” I asked, suspecting his behavior. When he heard that, Kitty’s eye’s lightened. “Oh, you do want to bath with me.” I smiled, pleased with the fact that I could read his body language.
“Come on, Kitty,” I said, stretching my hand out to get him.
Kitty looked worried at first. He kept looking back to make sure Cadell wasn’t coming, before approaching me slowly.
Just when I was about to pick him up, darkness filled the bathroom in an instant, terrifying Kitty and I.
“Oh no,” I uttered worriedly, knowing this won’t go well for me.
That’s when I heard Kitty scream in the darkness with the dark cloud clearing up, revealing Cadell in his real form, holding the poor cat from the neck.
He was furious.
“Cadell, stop! Why do you keep fighting with this cat?” I questioned, unable to step out of the foamy bathtub.
That’s when Cadell flashed his glowing silver eyes at me and said, “Don’t allow this animal to deceive you, Eve. If you want to see what is really hiding under this skin, then follow me to the kitchen.”
“What? Why the kitchen?” I asked, suspecting Cadell.
The creepy smile he gave before dashing out of the bathroom, made me realize that Cadell was about to carry out something brutal on Kitty!
“CADELL!” I screamed, forcing myself out of the bath tub and wrapping my body with my robe.
Quickly, I went to the kitchen and found a boiling water on the stove, with Cadell holding Kitty above the steaming pot.
Kitty was crying with those innocent eyes falling on me, while Cadell didn’t care.
“Cadell, leave him alone!”
“Oh, I will. After he sheds himself out of his skin.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Your Kitty Cat of course. He’s no mere Cat, but a man.”
“What?” I was stunned, finding this hard to believe.
“You heard me. He’s not a normal Cat. And if he doesn’t show himself, I’m going to make Cat meat for the whole family,” he threatened, slowly drawing Kitty to the steam.
This can’t be true. Kitty is no man. Cadell is just assuming things.
“Three,” Cadell started the countdown.
“Cadell, drop him down! He’s not a man!”
“Two!” He lowered Kitty down again, causing the poor creature pains.
I felt my heart aching for the little one, as I begged Cadell to set him free.
“Cadell!”
“One!”
“AHHH!” A manly voice came screaming out from… Kitty?
And in split seconds, I saw Kitty bursting out of Cadell’s grip and charging at him! It went so fast that I began to notice through the struggle that Kitty was changing into a man!
“Oh… Oh my Goodness!” I stared in horror, as Cadell pinned this man to the ground, making him submit.
“Now can you see your Kitty is no Cat but a Pervert?!” Cadell groaned, slapping the head of the fellow he had under his custody.
“I am… I am not a pervert!” The man struggled, turning his face and giving me a clearer view at him.
“Wait, I’ve seen you before,” I said, drawing closer a bit.
“Don’t you recognize your pretty boy? Look closely,” Cadell said, turning him over so I’d see properly.
That’s how the wave of shock went around me, causing my body to shiver. I recognize him. “Trent?!”
It was Trent! He has been pretending to be a Cat?!
“I think you need to look closer Evolet. Don’t you recognize this Kitty Cat?” Cadell asked, dragging Trent’s hair, causing him to groan out in pain.
I was too freaked out by this sudden revelation that the option of looking at his face again, bothered me. But when I did as Cadell said, I noticed something about his eyes.
I looked closely and realized who Trent really was.
“Oh my God. You’re… You’re the Werecat. You’re the Alpha Cat!”
