EVOLET
“Did you see that?”
“She didn’t even beg the kitty like we did. It just jumped right on her.”
“I knew we were wasting our time. She didn’t even lift a finger,” The girls murmured, staring at me.
I tried my best to look away from them and focus on the cutie in my arms, but Fiona’s face wouldn’t let me. She was dying of jealousy and struggled to hold it in.
I was enjoying this moment.
Even the others failed to see that their words were annoying her by the minute. I could tell she was going to erupt any time soon.
“I told you she’s gifted, but Fiona said it was a lie.”
“SHUT IT!” Fiona yelled, frightening the others. “She’s not gifted! She’s… There’s… I’ll show you all that there’s nothing special about her. Watch!”
Angrily, she walked up to me and tried to take the cat out of my hold. Only for the kitty to hiss at Fiona, scratching her hand away from it’s side.
“Ouch! You little monster!” She roared.
“Leave him alone,” I intervened, protecting the cat from her rage. “It’s not the little one’s fault that your soul is as dark as coal.”
“Excuse me? What did you just say?” Fiona questioned, widening her eyes at me, thinking I’ll get scared on seeing her wolf eyes.
With no fear, I said, “The truth. He already picked your aura that’s why he’s running away from you. You’re the reason why he’s stuck in that tree in the first place.”
“Just keep your lectures to yourself, Eve! You’re only saying this to make yourself feel good,” she said, chuckling proudly.
“Just say it, Eve. You’re still sad that you’re no longer in the hunt. You can’t be the Luna if you aren’t in the game. How sad,” she mocked, wiping off fake tears.
To her, it was funny. But to the others, through their face expression, I could tell they were fed up of her nonsense.
As Fiona was crying fake tears to mock me… “Evolet, where are you?”
“Cadell?” my heart skipped, forcing me to turn around and see Cadell approaching us.
“Who is that?” I heard from the girls.
Turning around to look at the girls, I was left surprised by their frozen faces. They all gazed at Cadell like they had just seen a… a god!
Even Fiona’s voice ceased. She gawked at Cadell in shock, lowering her hand down from her eye.
“Eve, who’s that? He’s so hot!” Derby whispered, biting her lip seductively.
She wasn’t the only one. The others began to sweat, dressing their hair for Cadell to see their faces.
Holy Moly! I guess Cadell wasn’t joking about making ladies fall at his feet! They are totally lost in his charm!
“I was looking for you. What’s going on?” Cadell asked, wrapping his arm around my shoulder.
“Oh my!” the girls gasped, watching us.
Cadell and I looked at them. They were acting like dummies, trying to compose themselves in front of the charming god next to me. Even Fiona!
“Um… Friend of yours?” Cadell asked, pretending not to know them.
I had to play along, saying, “Sort of.”
“Hi!” Derby drew closer, waving her hand at Cadell. “My name is Derby. I’m Evolet’s friend.”
Oh my goodness. Derby is tripping too?
“Derby? Evolet’s best friend? Oh my, It’s really you! Evolet has mentioned you to me. She talks about you a lot.”
“She has?!” Derby’s mouth dropped, glancing at me then back at Cadell, who now had her hand in his hold, saying, “I must say, you’re beautiful in person.”
“Really?” Derby’s grin became wide, as she watched Cadell peck it with his lips, leaving her melting like butter.
“Waw! This is entertaining.” I smiled, almost laughing at Derby’s face.
She froze like a statue, walking up to me. “Eve!” She squeaked, hugging me. “You’re so lucky! He’s so handsome! Ahhh!” She shrieked softly in my ear, squeezing me tightly.
I giggled, patting her on the back. “Yeah, I’m lucky,” I said, looking at Cadell, who stared back at me with a smirk across his face.
That’s when he noticed the cat in my hold and asked, looking confused, “Eve, where did you get that?”
“Oh him? He just came to me. I think he’s all alone,” I said, petting the adorable angel in my hold. It meowed, caressing my hand.
“Aww, so cute. Can we take him home?” I asked Cadell, showing him my googly eyes and waving the kitty’s little paw at his face.
But this was all a plan to show Fiona that Evolet isn’t after that Pervy boyfriend of hers. I now have my own man. His name is Cadell.
Giving his charming smile, Cadell agreed, cupping his right arm around my waist in front of the others. I know my body vibrated to his touch, but it felt like the others felt his icy grip as well.
The way their body shook when Cadell held me, felt like their system was attached to mine.
“Of course, Eve. Anything for you.”
“Thank you… dear,” I uttered, just in time to see the sparkles in Cadell’s gaze when I called him that. His lips slowly crept into a curve, carefully leading me away from the others.
“It’s time to head back home. You don’t want your mother searching for you in the woods.”
“True.” We both chuckled, acting like a couple.
Seeing we were leaving, Derby said her goodbye to Cadell and I, joyfully. “I hope to see you again. Bye Eve. Bye HANDSOME!” She yelled that last word out, still melting in her spot.
“Bye,” Cadell and I chorused, ready to leave when… “Hold it!” Fiona stopped us, walking up to Cadell and I.
She took a good look at Cadell then at me, unable to believe that we were together.
“What kind of game are you playing, Eve? Who is this.. this man?” she questioned authoritatively.
What nonsense. Just when I was about to open my mouth and speak, Cadell responded instead, “And who are you?”
That question felt like a slap to Fiona’s face. She chuckled and answered, dressing her hair to the back, “My name is Fiona. You must have seen me at the Luna’s hunt.”
“No one gives a damn,” Cadell slammed at Fiona, bruising her ego in seconds.
Her eyes popped out in shock, turning to look at the others who were cackling secretly.
She felt humiliated and tried to redeem herself. “Excuse me, but… but you can’t…”
“Can’t what? Speak the truth? You want me to lie?” he asked, lifting his brow at her.
“I.. I meant…” Fiona stammered before Cadell. She lost her boldness in a blink of an eye!
“I said no one gives a damn. Even the poor cat had to bury his head away from you. Come on Eve, let’s go,” Cadell delivered the final blow, pulling me along.
I followed him from behind with my mouth wide opened. I can’t believe he serviced Fiona nastily.
Turning back to look at the girls, I saw Fiona yelling at the others and causing a tantrum, while Derby was still waving at Cadell and I, throwing air kisses.
“No one gives a damn? Cruel,” I laughed, facing Cadell.
He had a mug marked on his face, clenching my hand. “She’s lucky I delivered that tiny blow. I had a lot in my system, ready to baptize her.”
“Wicked!” I laughed, clinging to Cadell’s arm.
When he felt my hold, Cadell looked at me with a smile, poking my nose.
That bloomed my heart, leaving my cheeks blossom red.
